Having been an Elder I can tell you that TONS OF TRAINING = Call the branch.

NO OTHER TRAINING!!!!!

JWs' love to brag about preaching but.....

if what they are preaching about is untrue and false, does it really count?

i mean over the 100 years plus we have been going, how much of what we taught was absolute crap.

how many things taught about never came true.

Yea what's to brag about?

It takes 7,000 hr to convert 1 person. Keep in mind that is really low balling it!!!!

Why? Because most people baptised these days are family members - not people off the street.

Now 7K hrs is about the class time someone needs to get a BA degree in just about anything.

Embellished assembly interviews/"experiences"

oh how wonderful those experiences at assemblies and "schools" are - not.

at times it seemed as if these "experiences" were scripted.

the speaker gets criteria in the outline regarding what the experience or interview has to be about.

What is also a shocker is when you are giving some of the more major talks at DCs and you start to actually look up the outside references (often to some obscure journal or report) to find that it actually is the opposite of what the Outline is saying it is.

I tried successfully for a few years in using only real facts, and highlighting not the 'magic' but the practical (i thought at the time) value of the scriptures mixed with real life circumstances.

It did not take long to start to question everything though.

does serving as an elder make one a bad family man.

with all the demands placed on those serving... how can one make time for family life?

as we know, there were at least 2 ways to enter the un ngo bldg : 'ground pass' and 'library pass'.

and the 'ground pass' matters was dealt by many posts in old times.

basically, the policy of 'library pass' had not been chaged before 9.11 as we read.. however, some pro-jws have been insisting that it was not the un ngo bldg.

Barrold Bondsan As far as I'm aware, they never did explain it to the flock. The only way I'd have even known about back then is because I was in bethel at the time when they announced it during morning worship.

Possibly they could have sent someone to the Library of Congress instead, since it hold ALL published works.

By the way - what was SOOOO important they could only find it there?

Are Witnesses really "Bible Students"?

we were always told that as witnesses we were "sincere bible students".... carefully examining the scriptures.. yes, we were indeed taught much about the content of the bible, it's history, prophecies etc..... but it was always from one perspective....that of the society.

when the society changed its interpretations, we had to do the same..... so were we really "bible students", or "society students"?.

just a thought.....

Yes they are because none can ever graduate!
Students are the best you could call them. Go over the same crap every week, and almost none of them could stand up against any one who really knows the bible.

The Elders of the congregations make for the worst possible "shepards".

the main goal of a shepard, is to keep the flock as safe as possible.

the loss of just a single sheep, could be devastating to a flock, and a shepards financial well being.

every sheep is valuable, from a monetary stanpoint, and future strength of the flock.

Having been one - they are COMPLETELY UNTRAINED AND UNQUALIFIED to be involved in any way in people's lives.

They 80% of the time don't even know the current policies.

They almost all the time NEVER understand motivating factors in people's lives

And they almost NEVER do any real (non WT) reserach when it comes to dealing with difficult issues like Depression, BiPolar...

They are worse than useless - they are often HARMFUL!
