I thought it was funny seeing this in the latest awake in the article about Aristotle.
I am sure there are greater ironies in WT literature - but at the moment I can't think of one.
"The read to much into the bible" WOW!

starting this thread because of katewild's post.
(from where came god?).
the unanswerable questions of life are usually attributed to: "we are imperfect, so cannot understand.
If anyone thinks we only use 1% or 10% of our brain - please tell me what part could I remove from your head?
WHY DO STUPID THINGS LIKE THIS PERSIST?
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/do-people-only-use-10-percent-of-their-brains/
Though an alluring idea, the "10 percent myth" is so wrong it is almost laughable, says neurologist Barry Gordon at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. Although there's no definitive culprit to pin the blame on for starting this legend, the notion has been linked to the American psychologist and author William James, who argued in The Energies of Men that "We are making use of only a small part of our possible mental and physical resources." It's also been associated with Albert Einstein, who supposedly used it to explain his cosmic towering intellect.
The myth's durability, Gordon says, stems from people's conceptions about their own brains: they see their own shortcomings as evidence of the existence of untapped gray matter. This is a false assumption. What is correct, however, is that at certain moments in anyone's life, such as when we are simply at rest and thinking, we may be using only 10 percent of our brains.
"It turns out though, that we use virtually every part of the brain, and that [most of] the brain is active almost all the time," Gordon adds. "Let's put it this way: the brain represents three percent of the body's weight and uses 20 percent of the body's energy."
if god is the creator, who created god or how did he evolve?.
So - how can you believe in something that
A. Humans can not grasp.
B. Can not be proven
C. Shows NO evidence existing (other than a convenient answer to questions you can't answer or understand)
D. That is not part of our Universe (convenient for someone not wanting to show evidence)
How does belief in Leprechauns differ from the above?
P.S. The bible states that god has a dwelling (heaven) and it's a specific place.
Who created the place he lives in? Did it also always exist?
since i'm only an "inactive", i still have plenty of jw friends on facebook and instagram.
here's a few samples of what they are posting regarding the remain loyal to jehovah conventions (note some of my friends are spanish speakers):.
what an amazing fulfilling day with these people .
It was a HISTORIC Event!
Once in a lifetime!
kinda just like every event ever.
this came up recently with my dyed-in-the-wool jw pioneer mother, who swears up and down that there are no scriptural instances of this happening.
i seem to remember a couple passages, but can't remember where they were..
Vidio - my brother - you must remember Dog made allowances for his people because they were Stiff Necked.
Jehober was showing love allowing innocent women to be raped.
He is a Dog of Justice afterall.
having been out of the cult for a few years now, i can finally sit back and accurately access the good, bad and the ugly, especially as it relates to education and having a sense of self-worth and realizing your potential.
in my opinion, religion is a total crock, but at least in some religions there is at least some value that you can translate your experiences and education gained in such into the real world.
for example, the mormons have their own accredited university where you can obtain a degree and you can actually put that down on your resume and use it in the real world.
Remember there were talks and perhaps an article going around years ago, that being on the Theocratic Ministry was like being enrolled in a college course?? Or that reading the Watchtower and Awake magazines was akin to getting a university education??
I know it was so crazy - they only people who could really think that's true - where people who had NEVER gon to college or university.
the organization never ceases to amaze.you've got to see this video for yourself so i won't say much about it.
i wonder if this practice has been endorsed and sanctioned by the governing body and if we will see more of it in the future.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbuxbx1ktci.
Disturbing.
2 groups of Cultists battling each other.
Religion is poison.

I have heard "brothers" expound on how going to the KH is like like getting a Harvard Degree the education is so good. Even when I was "in" I thought that was a joke, especial since usually they could barely speak in complete sentences. (of course elders all).
What you get from sitting in a meeting like the TMS that you cant ever graduate - nor be thought sufficiently to speak on your own at a door, is a false sense that you actually know something.
The whole JW experience leads people to this: The Dunning-Kruger Effect.
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which relatively unskilled persons suffer illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability to be much higher than it really is.

Also it was common for Israelites to take captive women as wives and concubines.
Thats pretty much Legalized Rape.
