It just went on and on. One courting couple I knew believed that anal sex was OK as it was a non-divorceable offence if performed outside of marriage so therefore obviously not a disfellowshipping offence either. No confession required!
Man talk about making the BEST out of a hard situation! Kudos to them!!!

LongHasirGirl - I have to disagree a bit. I think the confidentiality depends on the congregation and the elders.
I was an elder a long time, and we did very well not talking out of turn.
True it's not foolproof, and some people like to show they are big shots about what they know.
I think what happens more often is that people put 2 and 2 together and think someone f#cked around. And that's true 90% of the time.
Don't get me wrong - JWs are the BIGGEST Gossip Whores you will ever find.
I have experience that to a large degree after fading.

One thing you learn as a JW is why all other religions are FALSE.
You get to see all their contradictions and lies and stupid beliefs.
Now when you come to realize that the WT is the same as them, it's hard to not think of organized religion the same way as Marx did.
The reality of all this hits you hard.

Yes I realize I drank the Koolaid. When you are a kid you believe what ever your parents tell you. I was an elder had pioneered, used on DC for big talks a lot, was very respected in the circuit...

Now like others I am embarrassed at some of the things I said and did.I also have sympathy for those still in (to a degree - some are just assh*les).
I don't like acting like they are all idiots because they are IN - since I was THEM for almost all my life. -

Lessons learned from the wife of lot drama
by purrpurr inthe video drama shown at the recent comvention was called "the wife of lot".
i noticed some stuble lessons being taught in this soap opera style video.... firstly, all the bad influence comes from women, its the wife and the mother in law whose pushing for more money and a better lifestyle.
while the men remain loyal to god, can't show the men going astray now can we?.

honesty
by midnight inregarding the recent 1975 video at the convention it hit me !.
when reasoning with people about the inspiration of the bible we used the bible writers candor ie/ there honesty when recording bible accounts about there personal mistakes .. how come the governing body despite its claims to be spirit directed are not honest about there mistakes ?.

I was impressed by part of today's symposium entitled ' Safeguard your children from what is evil'
