I remember reading something in an old 1800's book somewhere an argument that the metric system of measurement was 'profane' because the English standard of measure was inherited from God (through the design of the Great Pyramid and the supposed Pyramid Inch).

Is There (Was There Ever) an Anglo American Dual World Power?
by BluesBrother inif you live in the u s a or the united kingdom, this is how the wt society views your government, your nation :-.
yes, as an ugly, evil terrifying beast !
this is based on the book of revelation chapter 13 , quoted as follows in the revelation climax book.

I don't know the origin of the term 'Anglo-American' world empire, in particular its connection to supposed prophecies in the books of Daniel and Revelation, but the WT didn't invent it. I have seen it elsewhere ( the now-defunct Armstrong World Wide Church of God used it in the '70's). It seems likely to me that it came out of the 1800's end-time writers.

What useful piece of literature have the JW produced?
by HowTheBibleWasCreated inseeing on another post here about former jws throwing away literature.
i am curious as to the various opinions on there value.. for me i have been inactive for 3 years almost 4. i still have alot of books and of course all their bibles ever produced (except a few from the 1800s.).
in my opinion i think there are four books the jws produced that are useful:.

As others have noted, the Aid book, the Kingdom Interlinear, the All Scriptures books have some lasting value and use outside the JW mindset. Besides that, they used to distribute, and in a few cases printed, some non-JW books that are worth keeping. The Byington translation of the Bible for one. They had no part in the translation, but simply published it after the translator's death. I think they printed Wilson's Diaglott for a time, and it was not JW of course. Likewise they printed the King James and American Standard versions on their presses at one time.

It's just a combination of bad art, blown up, reduced, etc to get to a certain print size, then printed with cheap ink and cheap paper. Nothing more than that, in my opinion.

What country are you in? I seem to remember that they are organized under different names in the various countries, usually for legal reasons. I think in Mexico they were a cultural organization for many years so they could hold title to property.

Congregation Letter - 2021 Magazines Delayed???
by JWTom inwe had a letter read in our cong.
last week that said the public wt and awake would be delayed during the beginning of 2021. meaning we would just use the 2020 version into 2021 and there would be no new ones at the beginning of 2021 until an undetermined time sometime during the 1st half of 2021. at least that is the gist that i remember.
it was in what atlantis provided but there was no further detail....very brief.. any more intel or speculation on this?

The ministry any more is pretty lame, at least in the US. My pioneer-wife spends a couple of hours most days writing letters out in longhand that are then mailed along with a tract in the US Mail. That, or an equal amount of time looking up addresses on the internet and trying to match names to the addresses. A good 20-30% of the letters come back as undeliverable, since the addressee has moved.

I'm looking at the jw app and it looks like the study edition of the WT for Jan 2021 is out there, which is for the WT study up to April 4, 2021.

This song is one of the few that doesn't use the name Jehovah, but does mention both Christ and Jesus, as well as God. So a non-JW editor seeking a song which may be palatable to evangelical Christians may have picked this song for that reason.

The 1950s NWT (1984)
by HowTheBibleWasCreated ini did a video on this subject once but feel this is a noteworthy topic.
to be honest the old nwt has come under sonsiderable attack from fundie morons attacking it's nt which was translated with a few revisals in 1950.the truth is john 1:1 and 8:58 and other texts, though despite being odd, are within the translation rules as are the inclusion of the word {other} since this was stated in the forward as an interpolation.
jehovah in the nt is odd but certianly lacking as other translations have added more yhwh.. so the ot?

The OT of the pre-2013 NWT was very literal, to the point of being overly tedious to read. I have an interlinear Hebrew Bible (Jay Green), which is laid out similarly to the NWT Greek interlinear. It has Hebrew to the right side of the pane with interlinear word for word and the Strong's number, and the Green literal translation in the left side of the pane. It reads very much like the NWT OT. Literal, wordy, long run on sentences and awkward verbs. It was a very formulaic approach that may be good for some study applications, but not for reading.
The NW NT was not as literal, with a lot more doctrinal bias.
