As an aside, I think it is kind of sad that the WT would waste their time and resources to prevent one of their songs from being recorded and distributed, especially when the artist was doing it in a positive way. I also liked Aled Jones version better than the original. The arrangement modulates into a different key, for the last verse I think, which has a nice effect. It takes a good singer and orchestra to do that well, and he does a good job with it.

The premises security at WT headquarters (and at local Kingdom Halls too) are something I understand. 9/11 and then all the shootings over the years since then have made it necessary. Workplaces, churches, movie theaters, schools, nothing is safe from the looney with a gun. It's awful, but necessary nowadays.

I remember sometime back in the '90s there were some really nice recordings of the then-current Kingdom songs circulating, some in English, others in German if I remember right. They cracked down on that pretty quick, which I thought was a shame.
On another note, I seem to remember a couple of the Kingdom songs being recorded by some of the music professionals who were witnesses. I think George Benson recorded one. Maybe someone can recall which song it was.

if you accuse people of being stuck in jw mindset or "cult-like" mentality simply because someone has a different view of politics than you, you'll be deleted.. it's insulting and a lazy substitute for having any real argument for a proper debate.. what next ... "you smell" ?.
I think that cult behavior is seen more on a spectrum rather than all-in or all-out. A book which changed my thinking on it was one by Arthur Deikman, 'The Wrong Way Home; Uncovering the Patterns of Cult Behavior in American Society'. (1990) He doesn't mention JW's at all, and most of his case studies are non-religious, but it is a an eye opening book.

I read a book recently called 'How the Great Pyramid was Built' by Craig B Smith (an engineer) that I found very interesting. He also presented evidence that the labor was mostly paid laborers, not slaves.

Russell's belief in the Pyramid prophecy measurements is one of the most embarassing and damning of his teachings. Rutherford, for all his faults, at least had the sense to ditch the Pyramid. It lives on however, in a way. The first time the term 'Jehovah's Witness' appeared in WT literature was in the Studies in the Scriptures in reference to the Great Pyramid.
