  The JWs don't like Chess

  i can remember when i joined the chess class in middle school.

  my mother brought out an older watchtower article about how chess is a game of war.

  since i left the cult in 95 i have slowly lost any connection to the cult.

  Will JWs get DFed if they are caught with old JW publications?

  i was told that if a jw now gets caught reading or with old jw literature they can get dfed.

  i doubt this is true but wanted to know for sure.

  I predict that they will reach some sort of agreement out of court and then we'll hear no more about it.

  As an aside, I think it is kind of sad that the WT would waste their time and resources to prevent one of their songs from being recorded and distributed, especially when the artist was doing it in a positive way. I know it is part of their doctrine and belief system to be 'separate' and all that, but this issue just underscores how stupid that belief system is.

  I also liked Aled Jones version better than the original. The arrangement modulates into a different key, for the last verse I think, which has a nice effect. It takes a good singer and orchestra to do that well, and he does a good job with it.

  The premises security at WT headquarters (and at local Kingdom Halls too) are something I understand. 9/11 and then all the shootings over the years since then have made it necessary. Workplaces, churches, movie theaters, schools, nothing is safe from the looney with a gun. It's awful, but necessary nowadays.

  Interesting. He has had significant contact with the Witnesses to be able to make his presentation so factual. At least he has JW family members or close friends who were JWs.

  I remember sometime back in the '90s there were some really nice recordings of the then-current Kingdom songs circulating, some in English, others in German if I remember right. They cracked down on that pretty quick, which I thought was a shame.

  On another note, I seem to remember a couple of the Kingdom songs being recorded by some of the music professionals who were witnesses. I think George Benson recorded one. Maybe someone can recall which song it was.
