I heard the same story from an old time witness I knew in the '80s.

Thanks for finding this Terry!
A couple of observations/ comments:
I didn't know TIME was around back in 1930, but sure enough, it started in '23.
The TIME author states that there were 1 million members of the IBSA and WT back then. Maybe that's what Rutherford told him, but I think by any measure it was nowhere near 1M in 1930.
TIME categorized the Bible Students as a 'California Cult' even then. Pretty smart!
sorry if this has been discussed before but on quora someone asked if rutherford had said that dinosaurs had been taken to venus .
i assume that the questioner had heard it somewhere and wanted to check it out.
i've never come across this before is it true ?
The screenshot linked by Atlantis also contains the words 'cloudy envelope', which suggests that the previous page of the quotation was a discussion of the then-believed vapor canopy. They believed at the time (and into the '60s) that the predeluge earth was surrounded by a canopy of water, sometimes called the Vailian theory, which supposedly created a hothouse effect on the earth. Totally discredited scientifically, it was popular in the 1800's as it seemed to support the flood ideas.

I'm glad to know that the Venus-Dinos are happy. That makes my day!
we had 2 fancy dress parties in our congregation...before the ban.
it was the best fun we ever had together.
problem was some came as pirates with swords!
There was a formal dress party in this area (midwest US) in the '90s. There were several young ladies who were exceptionally good looking and it seemed to draw the young guys like honey. Some drove upward of 500 miles. I wasn't there, but it caused quite a stir and a crackdown on open invitation parties of any sort.

Wow, that is really out there.
One thing about the Golden Age quotations that I have noticed is that some of the most outrageous ideas found their way into the Golden Age. Whether they were official WT dogma, commonly believed ideas among the JW/Bible Students, or simply the rogue rant of the Golden Age editor (Clayton Woodworth), I would like to know.
fyi: not sure if new message notifications are working right now, seeing a lot of errors in the logs.. investigating ....
I just today received two pms that were sent 16 days ago. No problem, I used to work for the USPS, so 16 days is fast!
'sins of the father', a recent book by lily dunn, whose father joined the rajneesh cult in the '70s.
an interesting perspective of an intelligent woman who struggled with the issues of having a distant and separated parent in a destructive cult.
worth a bit of time to view the interview:.

there's an article posted by william dalton at the andover townsman on steven t. byington, translator of the bible in living english.
there are some interesting tidbits about the man which i didn't know, including the fact that he was an anarchist!.
you might want to head over to the comboxes, because there's only me (with a neutral post) and a couple of rah-rah jw posts.
I was in Andover MA about ten years ago and visited the historical society there. I donated a copy of Byington's Bible to their historical documents library. They seemed pleased to get it.
as some of you might recall, i self-published a novel last fall.
i hoped “armageddon’s disciples” would be successful as my previous works (an alternate history trilogy) had done well.
not so with “disciples.” i’ve sold a total of nine copies.
Jeff, I received your book today. Autographed too! Give me a couple of weeks to read and digest it and I'll PM you.
