An offer in exchange for some help.
by JeffT inas some of you might recall, i self-published a novel last fall.
i hoped “armageddon’s disciples” would be successful as my previous works (an alternate history trilogy) had done well.
not so with “disciples.” i’ve sold a total of nine copies.

When did JWs stop reciting the Lord’s Prayer together?
by slimboyfat indoes anyone know what year?

Thanks, I was totally unaware of this, though I was attending as a child since the early sixties and I thought I had heard of everything.
I suggest they dropped the practice about the time the NWT supplanted the KJ and ASV in JW use. The NWT really butchered the poetic cadence, I doubt they would have wanted to recite 'let your name be sanctified' in unison.

News to me. I’ve read a lot of the Bible Student material pre-1916 and I don’t recall any discussion of it. Probably went the way of the Chatauqua Salute and the Love Feast.

Thanks for finding this Terry!
A couple of observations/ comments:
I didn't know TIME was around back in 1930, but sure enough, it started in '23.
The TIME author states that there were 1 million members of the IBSA and WT back then. Maybe that's what Rutherford told him, but I think by any measure it was nowhere near 1M in 1930.
TIME categorized the Bible Students as a 'California Cult' even then. Pretty smart!

by jhine insorry if this has been discussed before but on quora someone asked if rutherford had said that dinosaurs had been taken to venus .
i assume that the questioner had heard it somewhere and wanted to check it out.

The screenshot linked by Atlantis also contains the words 'cloudy envelope', which suggests that the previous page of the quotation was a discussion of the then-believed vapor canopy. They believed at the time (and into the '60s) that the predeluge earth was surrounded by a canopy of water, sometimes called the Vailian theory, which supposedly created a hothouse effect on the earth. Totally discredited scientifically, it was popular in the 1800's as it seemed to support the flood ideas.

There was a formal dress party in this area (midwest US) in the '90s. There were several young ladies who were exceptionally good looking and it seemed to draw the young guys like honey. Some drove upward of 500 miles. I wasn't there, but it caused quite a stir and a crackdown on open invitation parties of any sort.

Wow, that is really out there.
One thing about the Golden Age quotations that I have noticed is that some of the most outrageous ideas found their way into the Golden Age. Whether they were official WT dogma, commonly believed ideas among the JW/Bible Students, or simply the rogue rant of the Golden Age editor (Clayton Woodworth), I would like to know.
