Rutherford's writing; he liked the phrase 'to wit'
He should have said 'half wit'
watchtower august 15th 1935 - "...the greatest of all tribulations mentioned in the scriptures must come after the great multitude appears and must be that which is mentioned by christ jesus as “tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time.” that tribulation period began with the “day of jehovah”, to wit, in 1914, when the war started against satan’s organization in heaven, and reaches the great climax at the time of the battle of armageddon, the great day of god almighty.
110 years - and counting!.
other denominations claim the great tribulation is only going to last for 7 years.

you read this correctly.
as i explained in an earlier post, i am a "ghostwriter" for the original resetter.
i'm a woman, a pimo regular pioneer working for my friend who was redsetter1 on reddit.

Thanks red 1 and red 2. There is a lot of speculating and guessing going on. Clearly the WT leadership is struggling with legal pressures and membership decline. What will happen is anybody’s guess.
I for one don’t believe there is a ten year, five year, or any year plan; the GB is too stupid for that. They simply react to what they perceive as an immediate threat.
i’ve noticed a pattern where things don’t go the way i expect them to go and/or whenever i realise there is a trend and, i mentally adjust for the idea that the trend will continue, the trend stops in its tracks.
so on that basis, and given many people, including myself, and active jws, have been asking ‘what changes will the governing body make next?’ perhaps the (disappointing) answer is: ‘nothing much for a while to come’.
maybe they’ve made the changes they want for now, and will wait a while and see how it’s received.
I'm still looking for an expanding role for women. It's long overdue.
i am thinking that the "ten year plan" that some have spoken of is the most likely scenario.
the org.
has to both attract new members and retain as many existing ones as possible.. so i think they will let the recent changes "bed in" for a while, maybe a year ?
I doubt they have a ten year plan, five year plan, or any plan at all. They just react. I expect more changes pretty soon; practically anything is on the table. I think it would be easier to identify things that they most probably will not change.
What they won't change, in my opinion:
Core doctrines like use of name Jehovah, the name Jehovah's Witnesses, soul sleep, eternal life on earth, non-trinity, war neutrality, general congregation organization (elders, ministerial servants), circuit overseer arrangement, an emphasis on recruitment/preaching, I'm sure I've missed some.
Anything outside these sorts of things is on the table for change.
there's been a lot of discussion about the changes in the org.
you might think all this would shake things up, especially for the older or super dedicated jws.
but remember when gb decided all the khs and the bank accounts needed to be transferred/managed from the top?
you heard me correct, this is not a joke, and it is not april fools day!
the asl portion of the governing body updated #2 (march 2024) has been released a bit early and someone caught it.
summary: .
In my opinion the age of baptism should be raised to the legal age required for entering a contract, which I think is 18 in most US States.
i remember the story going around the traps (here, perhaps?
) a couple of decades ago, about a country formerly behind the iron curtain.
when the soviet union crumbled, the jws were able to re-establish contact with the underground jw movement.
I concur that it was Romania. I listened to Losch speak about it one assembly. He was instrumental in holding the WT line and getting rid of the ‘apostates’. I got the impression that was where earned his chops and proved his WT loyalty. Ten years later he partakes and presto he’s on the GB
1970's photo of the russell pyramid.
the picture was sent to us by a former bethelite who was also the person who took the picture.
of course, the pyramid is not there anymore.. .
I have read that the pyramid was vandalized several times over the years. There was a time capsule inside at one time, which was removed/stolen decades ago. Supposedly it contained nothing particularly important or valuable (time capsules seldom do). I visited the site a few weeks ago. It's a shame it is gone, but at least they replaced the name markers of the individuals whose names were carved on the pyramid.

jones was a principal investor in the knickerbocker bank of new york city.
there was an earlier and defunct bank of the same name.
the bank issued its own currency, a common practice at the time.
Wasn't he the one who funded the printing of a few of the early peripheral Bible Student books, like "What Pastor Russell Said', 'What Pastor Russell Wrote", "Gems from the Mine"?
