Why are there two Watchtowers published? The real reason

so i talked to my dear aunt who is disfellowshipped but still has to interact with my elderly jw witness and masquerading jw aunt (really doesn't agree with the jw doctrine, but lives with my grandmother to take care of her) and she told me that there are now two watchtowers published, one that they use for congregation and the other for their "field service".. why do you suppose they are really doing that?

is it because they are trying to keep things from the public eyes?

i was really surprised to hear that..

I agree with metatron. It's all about the cost. The cult-speak in the study version is a secondary reason. The next cost-cutting change I expect to be to include the study WT and the publishers Kingdom Ministry in the same magazine, eliminating the need for the KM

What is the difference between what the WT has written and this statement:

We are Christ's anointed brothers, and we are your Saviour.

or:

"My Saviour is Christ's anointed brothers"

They are very close to supplanting Jesus entirely and putting the WT society/ Governing Body in His place.

All the debris can be shipped to a new dump site in the US which I hear accepts just about anything. Its called WALLKILL

today i added a new article to my blog sharing the whistleblowers letter to new yorks department of environmental conservation (dec) disclosing watchtowers pollution sites and incidents related to it.

This dumping issue has great potential for a number of reasons I can think of:

The clean up alone will cost large sums of money, at a time when they can least afford it.

Property value of the Wallkill farm is greatly devalued.

Potential/probable lawsuits from former Bethelites, neighbors, indeed anyone who drinks water from that watershed. Can you say 'class action'?

This kind of news makes headlines, especially in a state like New York, with major metro areas downstream. The negative publicity will be hard to live down.

Tarnishes the squeaky-clean image that the Society has tried to build up and maintain.

Proves that they are and have been hypocrites. Bring to ruin those ruining the earth, indeed

Even die-hard witnesses will have a hard time explaining this one. There is simply no excuse for burying chemicals in the New York countryside.

If a firm/corporation is breaking the law in one area such as this, they are likely also guilty of other infractions, which the increased governmental scrutiny may bring to light.

The notoriety of this case will bring increased government attention to other printing facilities in other countries. There are likely to be environmental or other violations at other Bethel printeries.

Closing down of all non-native congregations in The Netherlands

this weekend serious sources told me that in the netherlands the society is closing down all non-native congregations.

because of the mixed population of this country, there are >100 non-native congregations like english, france, dutch-caribian, arab, chinese, italian, russian, spanish etc.. my source was backing the dissision of the society because "these non-native congregations are islands on their own, with group-thinking and not allways listening to the society..." and concluded "these non-natives has to learn dutch instead of we are learning their language".. strange: some years ago many jw's learned a foreign language (like arab or chinese!

) and now they are all closing down.

Something about this report seems fishy. Either it is incorrect or there is information that is missing. Can someone independently confirm?

In the US there has always been a number of non-English speaking congregations (mostly Spanish, but some others), but in the last 10-15 years this has branched out to be much more organized, and many of the larger metro areas will have congregations for Russian, French, Portuguese, etc (ASL too). Most of the people in the congregations are the more zealous of the JWs, who are frankly bored to death with the increasing drudgery in the US English congregations. It is a way for these ones to be excited again to be JWs and the ones I know seem really glad to have made the switch. It matters little to them that they spend countless wasted hours in service, mostly driving around for hours to get to a few addresses where the English congregations say they found someone for their language. I have one family member in a French congregation in a US midwest city... they have never had a single French-speaking convert to accept to point of baptism. But they love it, there is a zeal there that I haven't seen since the 70's... not saying that is a good thing, but it shows that the Society is onto something here.

I am wondering if this is simply a money grab on the part of the Society, to get free funds to help clean up a site, thereby making it re-saleable. If I understood more about the Brownfield Cleanup Program and what it entails I could be more sure of what they are up to.

my father learned to hate catholics at home (a russian orthodox mining town) and at bethel.

he seemed to have no fervor pouncing on a protestant.

preaching against catholics at work put him on notice that he would be fired if he continued.

The Encylopedia of American Religions, editor J Gordon Melton Volume II, 1989

for some reason, though simply an encylopedia, it opened an entire new understanding about the JW religion and its roots for me

The more I think about this, the more significant I think this will be. It depends on how extensive the contamination is. Unintentional contamination is one thing, but to intentionally bury 55 gallon drums of chemicals??? What were they thinking?

When did printing start at the Farm? I distinctly remember going to visit there abt 1979-1980 and they were printing some of the WT and Awake at that time, but not any books, if I remember correctly

thanks Revealer for the link. I didn't know that the WT study edition was available for download as a PDF.

Having read the article, it strikes me as really curious. Being timed just before the Memorial, I would have expected the usual 'don't partake unless you're really sure', but I don't see it. Instead they don't seem to discourage it at all, do not mention anything about the number 144,000, and the drawing of anointed ones looks like people of middle age... certainly not the 85+ group usually pictured. Also not a single Asian or Hispanic pictured... hmm.

Really a curious article, I wonder where they are going with it.
