I have also read that the concept of the Devil came from Zoroastrian beliefs which the Jews picked up when they were in exile.

Why Jehovah`s Witnesses are wrong emphasising the name Jehovah.
by smiddy3 inhi friends, feel free to correct me where i`m wrong with this post.after all it`s just my observation of jw`s and the bible.. in the beginning of gods dealings with adam it was on a personal level , god to man so to speak.. god then dealt with humans via the patriarchs , then with the levi priesthood ,then judges ,( and a woman was a judge ) then kings ,somewhere in between all of this prophets played a major part ,and then came jesus christ the messiah.. and to my knowledge god has not validated a successor to him with any evidence i`ve seen .. jehovah`s witnesses claim to be christians but have with no new testament backing usurped jesus with jehovah.. this period of time ,until god says otherwise ,christians are to give honour and glory to none other than jesus christ .. that is the name that is above any other name until god says otherwise.
phil.2:9-11. not the name jehovah .the bible never says anything about a kingdom of jehovah ,the coming kingdom is the kingdom of jesus christ with his associate 144,000 earthly subjects.. this is just my understanding of what the bible actually says .. whether i believe it or not is another matter..

Somewhere in Acts it says the name of 'Christian' was chosen in Divine providence. The JWs have for the most part lost sight of Jesus and the basic identity of Christianity.

Judge Rutherfords brother was very naughty.....

Worth a mention is that the 'California' mentioned is the name of a town in Missouri rather than a state name.
I find it a little curious the newspaper would bother to mention JF Rutherford, as if to slight the family name. Newspapers back then often had a political party affiliation. Maybe this one was was from the opposing party. I seem to recall that Rutherford, though not elected as a judge, had run for office a time or two in some capacity at the county level.

What is REALLY behind the destruction of the Postal Service? I decided to research it ...
by Terry ini don't know about you - but i never know when i'm being lied to or told the truth any longer.
partisans are tribes warring on truth.
i decided to see what i could find out historically and this is what i've come up with.

I also had to report illegal activity to the Inspection Service. In this case the managers were involved as well. They were fired eventually, but it took two years. I quit there largely because of retaliation.

I worked for the USPS for over 15 years, and I can say from personal observation that it is poorly managed. Some good people, but a lot of bad ones. They are doing a pretty good job of destroying themselves, without the added assistance of politics.

Baptism during Covid - pool must tough the ground?
by jwfacts inthe july 2020 announcements mentions that baptism can be held in an “inflatable pool” as long as it touches the ground.
the pool must not be “on a terrace, flat roof, balcony, etc.”.
has anyone ever noticed that as a requirement?.

Must surely be for safety. Water is really heavy, and if anyone put a pool on a terrace or balcony it would exceed the weight designed for.

The “simplified” congregation donation arrangement
by slimboyfat indid anyone else experience a nostalgic throwback to the 1990s when the latest watchtower announcements presented their demand for increased donations from congregations as a “simplified” arrangement?
5. adjustment to resolved congregation donations: in the past, the congregation was presented with multiple resolutions to donate funds to the branch office in support of vari- ous activities cared for by the organization.
this arrangement has been simplified.

Transparency in Field Service Hours
by Earnest ini notice that in the recent instructions for new regular pioneers (2020-08-s-236-e) it lists a number of assignments for which a pioneer can be credited (up to 75) hours in a month.. these include:construction oversight, assembly hall oversight, assembly oversight, and convention oversight, as well as serving as temporary volunteers at bethel, commuter bethelites, remote volunteers, bethel consultants, hospital liaison committee members, patient visitation group members, disaster relief committee members, local design/construction department field representatives and maintenance trainers, and so forth.
approved assignments also include assisting with kingdom hall construction when such is done at the request of the branch office or its representatives overseeing the project, assisting with pre and post-assembly or convention work, assisting with work at assembly halls, conducting or participating in congregation meetings held in prison, as well as attendance at a theocratic school or class .
when i was pioneering and doing pre and post-assembly work i was told i could include the time spent working in my monthly report, which i did.

Likewise, the ones who are in Bethel are classified as 'fulltime' ministers, whether or not they actually go in preaching field service or not, yet they are required to spend some time in the actual ministry anyway. I personally observed Brother Poetzinger in the service once back in the '70's. He and his wife were doing street witnessing in Brooklyn.
