I know it may sound strange to have a post like this in this forum but as I've always got good answer to my questions here and because I find this forum therapeutic, I ask you if you know a good website or a book to learn to play guitar? As some of you know, I have some problems with my self-esteem and I feel that if I do some developing activities like this, it will help me. And, finally I wish that I didn't made any faults because I still have some difficulties with my english...

On shunning
by joelbear inon shunning.. the watchtower basically points to two reasons to shun people:.
1) it will make the wrongdoer think about their course of life and help them to come back to "the truth".. 2) it will protect your faith in jehovah and will keep you from being stumbled.. i think there are really 2 other reasons.. 1) fear of being shunned themselves for associating with you.. 2) to punish you for not thinking or being like them anymore.
kind of a revenge thing.

I would add that they try to make us believe that we are the one who lived (the outsider) and if we are shunned, it is our fault. But instead, it is their choice to shun us and and they punished themselve because they don't have the freedom to do what they want.

the wicked evil smurfs
by ring inwhen i was young, there was a rumor through out our circut, that the smurfs were demonized.
we were told at once to destroy all smurf toys, dolls, and figures.
there were storys flying around about talking smurf statue figures, that would get up and walk across the floor, ect... does anyone remember this, or did it only happen in my part of the world?

I were in the org as a child from 1989 to 1994 but I don't remember the urban legend about the smurf in my region. I was reading a lot of their books and there was no problem.

Guilt
by FreeFallin inthought i should post here as my problems are miniscule compared to what's going on in the world right now.
i feel so disloyal to jehovah by reading all the info on this web site, but what got me to post here in the first place was the information on the un.
i guess i'm trying to tell myself that it's reaally not that bad, that they had a very good reason for forming a slight alliance with the disgusting thing, etc.

The only one thing I can say is that this feeling of guilt is "normal" when you are told by an organization to be perfect and to always do more work. With them, you are never good enough. However, it's great to see that god don't love you because you are in this religion instead of another. The WatchTower himself is saying that on their site at http://www.jw-media.org/beliefs/beliefsfaq.htm . Here is a quote: "Jesus said that we should not be judging one another. Humans look at the outward appearance; God looks at the heart. He sees accurately and judges mercifully. God has committed judgment into Jesus' hands, not ours.?Matthew 7:1-5; John 5:22, 27."

What would YOU do, knowing what we know?
by Bendrr inknowing what hijackers are capable of now, what would you do if you were on a plane and a group of hijackers began taking over?.
would you stand and fight, calling on your fellow passengers to fight with you?.
what if the terrorists were armed with guns or claimed to have a bomb?
-
Nicolas
I think, I would try anything to stop him because anyway, you know that you'll die if you don't do something when the hijackers want to crash a plane into something.

The site jw-media.org
by Nicolas indid you read the faq on the belief section?
here is what they've wrote: .
"do you shun former members?.
-
Nicolas
Did you read the FAQ on the belief section? Here is what they've wrote:
"Do you shun former members?
Those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned. In compliance with the Scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions. Disfellowshipping does not sever family ties. Disfellowshipped members may continue to attend religious services, and if they wish, they may receive pastoral visits. They are always welcome to return to the faith.?1 Corinthians 5:11-13."Lol, when I saw that, I almost wanted to hack their site. Some members of my family are still in the borg and I know how they can broke a family. I also read it:
"Jesus said that we should not be judging one another. Humans look at the outward appearance; God looks at the heart. He sees accurately and judges mercifully. God has committed judgment into Jesus' hands, not ours"So, why do they say that we have to be a jw, if we want to be save at Armageddon?

He he, you could almost describe me with your story. I know the feeling of being different of the others at school. I know the feeling of having no friend at school because you are "not part of the world". Like you I find a lot help with my non-jw family. I think that the time will slowly cure our problem.

I said it because I don't know if the bible itself is a true book. Should we believe in the theory of the evolution or should we believe in the bible. Personnally, I have difficulty to believe to all of what is said in the bible.
