  the articles on the jw-cd which only go back to 1950 where we fought back the attacks.

  i do not understand why they did not continue to blast our bible since it is such a fraud....down south in usa churches teach members how to refute dubs at their door.....but why did they stop blasting the nwt?

  it is sooooooo easy to show a dub there is a bunch of made up crap in it.....i may have to help my local chruches.....if you need more info about the horrible fraud parts, feel free to pm me.........................oompa......even elders dont know

  There is an extensive and detailed support of the NWT by A. Byatt and Hal Flemings: Your Word is Truth: Essays in Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the New World Translation. It is worth a read. My mom detested Byatt, seeing him as a self-important man. Flemings is a professor at UC Santa Barbara who teaches ancient languages, and is someone Uncle B knows.

  I know nothing of Greek or Hebrew. So I do not know if any of the arguments are good. Mom, who had two years of Biblical Greek, saw it as a mixture of amateurish and really good essays.

  I don't follow him on twitter. But I sometimes read his twitter feed. He bans bunches of people. He's a self important troll. His twitter feed may add to his troubles instead of bringing stability to a self-created bad situation. One can hope more of his patrons leave him.

  It is obvious that Evans didn't leave the Witnesses because of an intellectual rejection of doctrine or practice. He ran away to avoid the consequences of his immorality. That makes his opposition to the Watchtower fraudulent.

  Discovering that "it wasn't the truth" after being kicked out for immorality and stupidity is self justification. It is not intellectual honesty. Too many X-Witness activists follow this same pattern. They pick on anything to justify themselves. Find something in the 1940 Watchtower! It's a scandal!

  Some youtube makers need a real life.

  You mean Massimo Introvigne? Why is he your 'pet hate'? I've read some of his stuff. He has a web 'magazine.' I don't find it offensive, even if I don't always agree. My uncle B belongs to the same scholarly society as he does, but I've never asked him about Dr. Introvigne.

  jws believe that today, the time we live in is the worst time ever in history.

  i know cause i just had a jw tell me yesterday this was the case.

  he pointed to covid, the russian-ukraine war, the high gas prices and the food shortage happening.

  My mother's constant criticism of the Watch Tower was that they failed to educate their clergy. My mom was a long-time teacher, one time professor, and exceptionally well educated. She spent a good portion of her life analyzing WT beliefs and practices. I have read their 'material,' their kingdom ministry school texts and such, and I have to agree.

  My grand uncle and a few other Witnesses I've met are exceptions. Two of my uncles by marriage are elders, both college educated prior to conversion. The congregation I sometimes attend [to take notes and enjoy the people - They're quite nice] is populated with more college graduates than normal for Witness groups. But I would say only two of their elders are capable of handling complex situations. Being a teacher, an electrical engineer, and a scientist - the professions of those elders - does not equip one to deal with complex mental and social issues.

  Mom knew some of the WT Society 'big boys' and thought them very competent. I don't know any of them. My impression is that other than making videos, they hide out.

  I've had the same experience. My Grand Uncle can tell you exactly what he believes and why. But my aunt cannot. To her "it's the truth and that's all I need to know." I don't know if that's a function of her age - about 80 - or her stroke. But it may be that she was once convinced and does not want to face the possibility of error.

  The one thing Lloyd has done that is worth while is provide us with hours of entertainment. It's a Tragi-Comedy. I hope paetreon deletes his account. Then he can go back to window washing or what ever he did before.
