"Mankind's Search for God" book

this book was published around 1990, but was never studied (to my knowledge).

does anyone know the reason why?.

As I understand it, the book was designed as a study book for newly interested. There are Kingdom Ministry articles advocating starting studies in the book. I do not know how successful that was.

It wasn't meant to be an academic study. As far as I can tell, no Watchtower product was meant to appeal to academics or meet that kind of standard. They're all meant to gain adherents and to project the Watchtower's theology. So It's no surprise that someone expecting an academic product is disappointed.

Micah 6:8

i saw this in a video sometime back ( don't remember now ) but it caught my attention...micah 6:8 was changed in the "silver sword" ...they changed the words in that scripture from " to love kindness" or in some versions to "love mercy" or "love grace" or "love goodness" to nwt silver : " to cherish loyalty".

sometime afterward there would be articles about being loyal to the organization.

some of you may recall this.

) anthony morris iii protzte, vor der kamera, in seiner zeit als mitglied des inneren ordens der wachtturmgesellschaft, immer mit seiner rolex (die seine frau, aus dem spendenshop von einem nachlass eines verstorbenen bruders abgriff) und den goldenen protzringen (die er ebenfalls, als erster, in der spendenshop hierarchie, geierte).. wenn er in seinen vorträgen damit prahlte, das seine eltern wohlhabend waren, stimmt das so lange, solange er auf kosten der brüder lebte.

als er in den kreisdienst wechselte, verkaufte er sein, durch die militärhypothek finanziertes, haus und zog in eine kreisaufseher-wohnung.

The original post reflects mental health issues. Most of these complaints are made only to find something, anything, about which to complain. Is A. Morris a 'good guy'? I have no clue. Are most of the complaints in the o.p. worth making? nope.

Does he have a Rolex watch? So do I. I inherited it. I also have an 18K antique watch, also an inheritance. And I do wear them. Does that mean I'm a braggart, demeaning everyone else? I hope not. I'm a poor post graduate student who happens to have a few nice things left to me by my mother.

Is the original poster envious of Morris' supposed wealth? Seems so. This post is more about envy and hatred than it is about valid complaints.

Bait and Switch "Bible studies"

mark jones, a witness for over 30 years describes what jws call bible studies offered to the public.. .

"they (jehovah's witnesses) offer you a free home “bible” study - which turns out to be a study of a watchtower publication with the bible brought out as an afterthought to try and prop up whatever current idea the governing body are claiming is “the truth” this week.. i think it’s underhanded.. when my parents became jehovah’s witnesses and they offered people a free home “bible” study, this is what they brought to study with them:.

what, did you think they were going to study the bible with you?.

I've read that book. But it's been a while. What predictions and claims? The first ed. of the Truth book made some. That book? I have no memory of any. Explain, please.

Nelson Barbour, for all his weirdness, has some excellent thoughts on the nature of spirit beings as revealed in the Bible. See his Three Worlds.

Other than historical interest, that's probably the ONLY thing he wrote that is worth while.

Does anyone actually believe that Russia blew up its own gas pipeline?

the claim that russia blew up its own pipeline functions, whether intentionally or not, as a test of our collective intelligence, and it’s worrisome how many fail the test.

as a former pentagon official put it, “a child could tell you that doesn’t make sense”.

they talk a lot about russian propaganda and suppression of their media, which i don’t doubt for a minute.
