  Did You Ever Think That The Demons Were After You?

  i know so many jws that love to think satan and his demons are after them.

  if they were being "persecuted", it was because of the devil and his demons.

  if they got an ache or pain, it was because satan was trying to "discourage" them.......did you think the demons were trying to get you, too?

  I remember having a copy of a record that I was sure was posessed. Actually took it out back and burned it. Too bad because it would probably be quite valuable now. My aunt told me whan I was planning on dropping our of the borg "The devil really got you".

  I gotta go back to the mention of chess. I had never ever heard of that before so I just looked it up in the CD rom and indeed they did make a big deal about it at one time. The Awake from March 22 1973 had a rambling article that sums up this way... Then, too, grown-ups may not consider it proper for children to play with war toys, or at games of a military nature. Is it consistent, then, that they play a game noted to be, in the opinion of some, an ?intellectualized equivalent of the maneuvers enacted by little boys with toy soldiers?? What effect does playing chess really have upon one? Is it a wholesome effect? Surely chess is a fascinating game. But there are questions regarding it that are good for each one who plays chess to consider.

  i know there has been lots of discussion on this issue in the past year but i have been unable to find it.

  i need to know where to find the questions from readers that talked about it being okay for people to vote if their concience allows.

  i brought this issue up with a couple of people, one a rank and file dub and the other an elder.

  I actually registered to vote for the first time because of this article. I am one of those on the fringe of the congregation. My wife is a dub but I quietly left it years ago. I go with her to book study and sunday just to please her.So far I have not been hassled about it except by my wife and I just refered her to the article. Like the rest of you, I think it is all crap.

  i need to know where to find the questions from readers that talked about it being okay for people to vote if their concience allows.

  The questions from readers I am refering to was only out in the past year or so and I remember reading it and being shocked. It didn't say anything about viewing anyone as sick if they voted but that it was entirely up to an individuals concience. It did say the individual would have to think had about what he was doing or something along those lines. Thats why I want to read it again. my memory isn't what it used to be. I did tell the elder what the publisher said about it being a smoke screen and he said "absolutely not the society doesn't do things like that". He never did get back to me like he said he was though so maybe he had a bit of a rude awakening himself.

I brought this issue up with a couple of people, one a rank and file dub and the other an elder. The publisher said he "sort of remembered it" but he thought it was a smoke screen for those lands where the work would be banned if they didn't make such a statement. The elder said he remembered "something about it but not the details and would have to get back to me". I find it interesting that in both cases something so strikingly different than previous statements in the WT would not have made more of an impact. Maybe the both of them are a little remiss in reading the "food at the proper time". Anyway, I need to see it again to refresh mu own memory, so if anyone could post where it can be found and better yet the exact text i woud be ever so gratefull.

  Rats and Rap Music
  
  A traveling overseer was visiting a congregation recently, and had this interesting experience to
  relate about 'RATS & RAP MUSIC'.
  
  The brother said, "Yes, I've heard people say with regards to Rap Music. . "Oh!, I don't listen to the
  words, I just like the beat. I don't know any of the words, . I just like the rhythm of the music."" He
  then asked the audience, " Are you one of those people?"
  
  Then he continued, "Let me tell you about a an experience I just heard. There was this young guy
  who did an experiment with rats. He had a group of rats, and he taught each rat to go through this
  maze he had set up. After a while he would time them, to see how long it would take the rats to get
  through the maze. One the average, he found that it took this group of rats about 10 minutes to get
  through the maze.
  
  Then he divided the rats up into 3 groups.
  The first group was kind of a controlled group, so he did absolutely nothing to change their
  routine for two weeks.
  With the 2nd group of rats he put a speaker on top of their cage, and for 10 hours a day he
  exposed them to classical music. He did this for two weeks.
  However, with the 3rd group of rats he put a speaker on top of their cage, and exposed them to
  hardcore Rap music for 10 hours a day for two weeks.
  
  After the two week period, he took the first group of rats and had them go through the maze
  routine just as he had taught them to do. It took them 10 minutes to go through the maze, just as
  they had always done.
  
  The 2nd group of rats that were exposed to the classical music went through the same maze,
  and he found that it took them only 8 minutes to do it, . . .. so it had shaved 2 minutes off the time it
  had originally taken that group.
  
  Then he took the 3rd group of rats that had been exposed to Rap music, and had them go
  through the same maze routine. The brother asked the audience, "Do you know how long it took
  that 3rd group of rats to traverse the maze?"
  
  The congregation was very quiet. The brother astonished them when he said, "Would you believe it
  took that 3rd group of rats 20 minutes? The exact same maze they were originally able to get
  through in 10 minutes now took them twice as long.
  
  Do you see how the Rap music slowed them down mentally, . . . and the rats didn't know what the
  words were either." Interestingly, he then continued on, and said that the young man couldn't
  continue the experiment any further, and he asked, "Do you know why?" The audience was quiet
  again, and the brother explained, "The rats that had been exposed to the Rap music for 10 hours a
  day for two weeks started to kill each other!"
  
  Then the brother.concluded with the thought provoking question, "Do you really think that such
  vulgar, profane Rap music has no effect on you?"

  Brother Kavelin injured in Santa Monica?

  injured in the run away car incident at the farmer's market in santa.

  injured in the run away car incident at the Farmer's Market in Santa
  Monica (we visit that), one brother got struck. Brother Kavelin, a
  friend of ours who wrote the song "Make The Truth Your Own", got struck
  and has both his legs badly broken. It looks like he is going to survive
  and we are so thankful, but what a horrible situation that has been.

  Oh my God!! 8 people killed in Santa Monica farmers market

  occasionally i go with friends to visit the santa monica farmer's market, and it is a good area to hang out in the summer in the evening.

  some 80 year old man just plowed through the crowd in a car for 2.5 blocks and ran over 8 people, injuring about 30+ others.

  a two-year old baby was killed.

  Intersting to see everyones input on this letter.

  Someone a few posts back suggested that this event never happened at all and I as well suspect that this could well be the case.

  I for one don't believe much that is forwarded in e mails. I just started this thread for entertainment value.

  Maybe it happened and maybe it didn't but it is fascinating to me to see how these stories and urban legends start.
