George Milton from Of Mice and Men is more just than Jehovah as when he kills lennie, he at least sees a need to let Lennie day dream about a better time before putting him down, and when I say "putting him down" I'm talking dispatching him. Jehovah does not want you to day dream about paradise when he would be putting you down, he wants you to know it was him that did it.

Can you take someone with you in Judicial Committee?

i've heard of a couple of cases of a person being present (maybe wife, or friend) for support at judicial committees - is this commonly accepted by the elder committee or is it just a rarity?.

The elders book is clear on what is allowed to happen within a JC.

If I remember correctly, a person can bring a witness to testify on behalf of the accused but cannot jut sit there for the actual trial, if I remember reading this correctly.

I think a husband can ask to be in the room if and when his wife is the accused, but no the other way around.

I could be wrong, but that what I remember reading.

Would like your input on creating a Quiz regarding failed Jw doctrine

for the benefit of my children and others that you think might enjoy it.. i recently bought a 40.00 program that allows a teacher or other person to create a quiz or test for students.

i can enter all the info into the quiz and make it available to any and all that want to visit it online to take the quiz but i need help in coming up with some good questions and also the right answers.

the objective is to be able to relevent info into my childrens minds so that they will have less of a chance of being brought back into this cult in the near future.

I think that showing them the failed history, prophecies that did not come true etc will help clear out any cobwebs that may be in their minds. You know we truly don't REALLY know what internal struggles they may be having as far as doubting if leaving the WTBTS was the right thing to do, or if it was just forced upon them by their parents, me.

Multiple choice, fill in the blank, etc,.. can also put in pics and media like a url to a webpage if needed.

I really could use some help in the ideas department here if you can think of things that would be important to know regarding the WTBTS in general and then some that would help settle the childs mind that the WTBTS was a lie.

Could also lean into the area of where some of the things said in the bible conflict with what we know about the world now and how it conflicts with science.

Really enjoyed the CONvention....why?

i remember when i was a mind cleansed(tm) jw i would listen to the talks when i wasn't napping.. on the long tiring drive home i'd say how i ''enjoyed(tm)'' the sessions and felt ''encouraged(tm)''.. .....and yet i couldn't recall a single ''point(tm)'' made.

i couldn't remember what it was that actually made me feel good.. on one occasion i asked the family what they found ''encouraging(tm)'' or interesting.. tumble weed.

Need help finding a watchtower!!

hi everyone, i was hoping someone could help me with this!.

yesterday my husband talk to his jw sister (they haven't talked in years) she found out by her other brothers that we no longer go to meeting .

she grew up as a jw then left and married a "wordly person"got divorced and recently started going to the meetings.

I would also mention that the current WT CD Rom contains and article that encourages looking into older literature from the organization.

Here is snippets from the article that someone compiled key points. I look at it as a "foot in the door" so that you can justify using the older publications.

w57 5/15 p. 313 Appreciating Basic Christian Publications

"Their zeal for knowledge may even prompt them to dig back into things that were published long before they came into the truth, expanding and deepening their understanding, and ever growing in Christian maturity. Do you dig into our older publications to expand and deepen your knowledge on subjects about which questions arise? Have you really studied these earlier publications? Fear of Freedom

when a long term prisoner is released in to society, they are often bewildered and at a loss what to do.

for many years they have been told what to do, now they have to make their own decisions, and make their own way in life, more often than not with little or no support.. the same is true for those leaving the j.w religion, in excatly the same terms as the last sentence.. do you think that is why some stay within the confines of the prison like wt ?

I have heard to that if you take a small animal such as a kitten or a puppy and continually pick up the animal when it approaches the threshold of a doorway and set it down on the other side it will stop at the threshold and wait for you to help it across as it does not know that it can simply cross the doorway on its own.

I think in a way we can be that same. If we get to the point where we depend entirely on others it can cripple us from being able to move forward.
