Interesting experience while protesting at district conventions

for three weekends this summer, a friend and i protested outside district assemblies being held in the tucson convention center.

our approach was very low key and completely non-confrontational: we just held our posters and smiled.

this was our experience at the first two assemblies (for the third assembly, see the next paragraph).

I think that a pole holding up the sign for more people to see and so that the bodies of the Attendants would not be able to block it out would be much better.

I also think that the message would have to be short and east to remember.

My all time favorite would be " JWFacts.com " as it is easy to see to a glancing eye and viery short and easy to remember. States that it contains facts and if and when visited, it would allow the reader to easily navigate to something that interst them.

I think that when a person puts too much info on a banner, sign etc trying to explain UN/NGO, Mexico vs Malawi it get too crammed and hard to read at once. And you know that a true JW does not want others in the area seeing that they are taking a peek.

When a few elders showed up at my door in the past and tried to use Proverbs 4:18 on me to "relieve all that ails you". I asked them if

Proverbs 4:18 was a prophecy that was written to let us know here in this century that gods chosen channel would continually get things wrong?

No good comeback on their part.

One of them brought up "present truth" so I added the comment "if what is being taught now is present truth, then what was taught before if not "present, it must be ""PAST",... and if not truth, it must be,..."........" (I left a pause for them to fill in the blank) just looked at me and smiled, there was no way in hell that their mind would allow them to think "Past LIE" there mind would not let them go there.

this morning i get a frantic call from my sister (who has been baptized 1 year and one month and never attends meetings anymore).

in tears she tells me that this morning my father picked her up in the car and told her that i was am apostate.

that i no longer loved jehovah and that i was going to be disfellowshipped.

How is this going to fall out with the new Jw employee? Did I miss something here lately about that?

Use the meeting to go in and be decent, act if you have to, and record it and put it on here for all to hear what goes on in those backrooms.

If you do decide to go in and record, try to give some logical reasons to not beleive the the GB as gods channel. If they asked me the question about "do I believe the GB are gods channel" I would tell them that the onus was on them to show that they were. Then I would share the fact that in any other facet of the world, when a company or person has a track history of failed predictions wise people tend to use that info to make a determination as whether or not to decide to "do business" with them. Tell them that if it any other entity other than this religion, they themselves would NEVER decide to follow them. Its because they have so much to lose, if they are not true that keeps them tied to the WTBTS.

I feel that I may be coming down to a meeting like this in the future and am just rehearsing outloud.

Satan is an apotate, right? Ex Jws are JUST LIKE Satan, but happen to be human.

So, in the minds of the loyal, brain dead, JWs, we are as close to Satan as a Human can be.

there's a lot of rumble in the grapevine of jws that there difinitely is a new bible that 'mother' is releasing at the upcoming agm.. it would be awesome if we could get a sneak peek at some of the changes.

sure would be nice if some of the lurkers on this forum who work at bethel in the writing, shipping or printing department could help us out.

this would really irritate 'mom'!.

Wait on Jehovah - What does is it truly mean?

good evening folks!

we have encountered this advice countlessly on wt study articles.

this especially comes out to ease the waiting pain of brothers eagerly waiting for god's new world and the end of the old system of things - with all the sufferings that go along with it.. i also noticed this being floated to try to extend the patience of brothers who are jumping ahead of the organization in terms of thinking - as if they are pre-empting the organization on certain sensitive views and issues.. if a brother has gotten an idea or insight that is far more superior than the present affairs in the society, or regarded as way in advance - he can be branded as a brother "not in order".

Recently read where a poster commented that the "Wait on Jehovah" that the JWs use could be likened to the

"God works in mysterious ways" from non Jws. It's a way to "pigeon hole" those doubts that crop up from time to time.

Keeps the cognitive dissonance down to a minimum.

Last night the one cool elder calls me

i figured he was going to arrange the committee and try to get me kicked out after the whole "big pile of books" labelled "take this shit".. well his call made me realize that more and more people ... elders included no longer take this religion seriously.

after he told me he heard what happened he actually laughed and said i would never expect that.

he then told me that it is apparent that i no longer want to be connected to the organization.

If you really want to tee them off, give them the check with Loan Written on it and then when they deposit it, put a stop payment on the funds, leave them hanging. Not sure you might get into trouble on that one.
