  yesterday he was jailed for 13 months for reporting outside a court in the uk.

  his was a non violent offence.. what no community service?

  I am horrified by the crimes perpetrated against young women in the UK. Their age prevents me from characterizing the crimes as pedophilia, but harming vulnerable people is not ever right. Crime is crime. Sexual abuse is among the worst of crimes.

  I think there is a part of this often glossed over. These young women came from care homes, broken families, the street. They often had a "reputation" or history of trouble. They were truly the most vulnerable and their plight was ignored by all those in the established justice system for the same reason they were exploited and were able to be . They had no value in the community and they had no one sticking up for them.

  • A third of people believe women who flirt are partially responsible for being raped (Amnesty, 2005)

  So, where do fact, fear, sexism, bias and tribalism(by any tribe) intersect? Right here, apparently.

  I am wondering what is keeping the silence regarding all the small children and young women who have been abused by men of every race in the last decades? Churches, religions like the WT, teachers/school districts, cops, politicians have been covering up and silencing those who speak up and those who are bullied into silence.

  The me too movement reminds us that those with even the smallest degree of authority of seniority or physical strength can and will use it to the disadvantage of others when they have a chance. The church finally taking steps. . .what are their race and religion? How did they exercise their faith or perverted culture in their abuse? What religions are they defying while they abuse the vulnerable? There has long been a subculture existing in every large city filled with men and women who take advantage of vulnerable teenagers. Grooming gangs in the UK are the same kind of perverts that exist in every city and culture-,those who have access to vulnerable young girls. And if you think they represent any religion and that all Muslims are similarly evil, then perhaps all us ex JWs should turn ourselves in for our complicity. The prosecutors are going after historic crimes these days.

  i was going to those conventions in cornwall before (ontario, canada), and i had seen that pastor who was preaching.

  He seems a divisive character. I'm not going to comment on how the city has restricted one man. My comments mean nothing. For people in Canada who object to the city's stifling of speech, I would remind them that no one else is restricted by Cornwall from speaking their peace about JWs, religion gun rights or muppets. Show up if you can and kindly advertise your deeply held beliefs.

  this is the spot where most of washington state and even parts of oregon have had thier regional conventions.

  there would be as many as 4 conventions during the summer.

  this year none.

  The Puyallup assembly hall will be grossly inadequate. The regular assemblies used to have terrible strains on parking and restrooms even when it was new. Did they expand? Puyallup will be overrun for months between that and the fair.

  I work as a vendor to that district and spent time at the school in January. I had a long conversation with the resource officer. Or one of them. It’s a safe quiet suburban rural area. I work with these folks. I am shattered with this news. I work with local high schools in debate events also so this is cutting too close .

  hey i was wondering if maybe someone who is an ex elder or who knows a lot about these things could help me.

  my dad is an elder but i need to be cautious with questions i ask.

  now that i’ve been woken up from my brainwashed love of this corrupt corporation and from my belief in the bible, and my fiancé is starting to wake up as well, i really don’t want to have the sexist, overused, impersonal talk outline used for my wedding ceremony by some elder who is trying to show off his talk giving skills.

  I had a lovely mildly spiritual vow exchange at the local justice of the peace. It was absolutely perfect and would not offend any believer (,and I'm sure he would have adjusted nicely if we were unbelievers.)

  It got the job done. It was short, simple and sweet.

  Still married!(So it worked, I guess😌!

  It’s a lot more entertaining than any Jw wedding and I love all weddings even Jw ones.

  Indian weddings have more spectacular visuals but the grandeur of a royal wedding is pretty entertaining .

  The GB just like the Chilean bishops didn't need to physically abuse. They did nothing to end the known abuse.

  The problem is that in this scenario, the GB is the pope. All the CO's and elders are more in the bishop (power level) position.
