How do you feel about your JW childhood?
by Emily1987 ini was 5 years old when my mother was baptised.
we went from celebrating xmas to no presents or decorations.
we would still go to my unbelieving aunty's house on xmas day, all of my cousins would be playing with their new toys and would wonder why i didn't have any.

I was also about 4 or 5 when my Mom got Baptized.
I am going on my 3rd Christmas this year, and I am living thru my kids. I hated the excuses as a kid and always had a hard time explaining them. But now, I am cramming as much Santa in my house as possible. I am also decorating the outside more then I did the past 2 years. I am still not DF but my wife keeps saying "If you do all those decorations, be prepared to be DF". I am done anyway, so let them do whatever they want. I Have posted pics of my family in front of my tree, and the only ones that said anything was my Brother, who said to never contact him again, and I know my Elder Dad knows and my mom, and also my wives elder cousins all know. We have been inactive for over 3 years so maybe thats why they have not really asked to talk with me.
Emily1987, Have a great Christmas with your family. As well as the kids birthdays and Halloween, and also Have a Great Thanksgiving.

Changing Name from Jehovahs witnesses to governing body followers?
by LovingLifeNow infirst off, they are not changing there name.
but i was thinking this morning that it wouldnt be that far fetched to do so.
i mean they could use the spin, " we have so much new light and the times are so close, that we need to be obedient to the fds," there have been many changes in the organization so we don't want to be associated with the old name, but again more then ever we need to be obedient" .

Think something like this is possible?

Expected pain
by former2free inlast week was a big week for me in terms of coming totally clean to my wife and her being more than on board to leave the jw’s with me.
we know what to expect but things happen from family and it still hurts just as bad.
last night my wife got a long text message from her brother that has seemed to be in the fence and he told her that same guilt tripping rhetoric that the wt uses about life in the paradise etc.

Formertofree,
You are going thru what alot of us probably went thru at first.I was in similar boat, my wife followed my lead very shortly after I showed her what this religion is really all about. It was very difficult at first. We decided to fade, and I have a few uber dubs in my family, and they decided it best not to associate with us anymore. I have also told my Uber parents (dads an elder), They said they will never stop talking to me, but then again I never disassociated nor was DFed , I have 2 children that I want to have a normal life , so we do all the holidays now, They have friends at school, they do sports, It is still odd for us, because we faded about 3 years ago. My parents know we do Christmas and Birthdays (I told them). But yet they still talk to me. So you never know. We are here if you ever want to talk.

My Dissociation letter
by TJ Curioso inhi to everyone!i was summoned to the judicial committee and went.
it was a respectful conversation from one side to the other.
in the end i handed the dissociation letter in hand and a binding to each of the elders, with an article i wrote on the subject, "are jehovah's witnesses a destructive sect?

Wow, Most powerful and accurate letter I have ever seen. Great valid points. If one does not sit back and say "Hmmmmm" after reading that, then they are truly blind to this cult.
