I have read alot of the advice offered on this board and was hoping to broaden my thoughts on my problem any opinons will be appreciated. I have been married for 3 years. I don't have any children by this man but have 3 from a previous marriage. He has one child from a previous marriage. My husband was not in a good financial state when we married. I was not aware of his financial problems until after we were married. I have a good paying job, more than he makes. For the past three years we have dug him out of his hole. He doesn't appreciate it but acts like it was my job to do and his money to spend since we are married. He collects Nascar memorabilia using joint finances because he doesn't believe in keeping them seperate. he says married people should have a joint account. Now the straw that breaks the camels back...he yells at my kids. not as in discipline but just riding their butt about stupid stuff, almost like he's jealous.this has been going on for three years and when I get fed up and decide to leave he promises to change and does for a bit but as soon as I let my guard down we are right back at square one. After 3 years someone's probably not going to change, right? I have pretty much made up my mind to leave but would like to hear someone else's voice of reason Just a little background, he has no idea about anything witness related...he's not religious at all, not spiritual either.he does not understand the effects of leaving the cult. Thanks for your two cents.

overcome by emotion as a parent.......
by scootergirl inthis afternoon i was sitting in my kitchen watching my three year old son playing.
he was humming to himself while playing w/trucks.
i watched his little hands as they moved the toys around, i listened to his sweet little voice.

I had one of those moments the other day when my 16 year old son said he was writing a poem for his homework and when I asked him what it was about he said "The person whom I admire the most". I said OK. He said I am writing it about you.
Edited because my fingers type faster than my mind spells!

Overseer's Visit & Hypocrisy
by JH inwhy is it that when the overseer visits the congregation, that just about everybody shows up to the meetings and they all go in the field service?
a whole week of endless zeal just to prove that they are all so spiritual.
is gone, they all come back to normal.

Nelly..
What I always enjoyed was the ones who had not been in the hall for months walking around and shaking hands with everyone...helping the old ones around...picking up the little kids....come to think of it , I guess the co never knew any different about them. They put on a good show. I hated when they took up money for the co's expenses...he had everything provided for him.

Well when I was new to the org. I couldn't understand all the fuss over the co's visit, to me the guy seemed like a celebrity the way everyone talked about him. After being in a few years I hated his visits because my husband always drug us out in service all week. We never did get to go out in service with him though....we had kids....he avoided us like the plague. I agree with you though...we would see people at the hall we never saw usually....memorials and co's visits.

Yours was the first post that I had read this morning, I have seen the angel trees in the past but were never really sure what they were there for. I am going to try to find one near me. Thanks for a great morning start.
Merry Christmas!!

How Long....
by WildTurkey inwhen i look back on my years as a jw, i cant believe how i accepted so many of their teachings without proof.
as i think about it now, i sometimes really feel like a dumb ass.
i was watching a video of our ministry school from a few years ago and there is no way in hell i could sit and listen to that bull anymore.. when they say the faithful slave, my stomach turns.

I couldn't do it, I even hate to read the quotes from the literature that are some times posted on this site. I can't imagine sitting through a 45 minute talk.

JW kids & Dec. stress
by wheelwithinwheel indecember used to be the worst month of the year for me.
i still remember making a santa out of a toilet paper roll, red crepe paper and some cotton in one of my first years of school.
when i brought it home, knowing it probably wasnt right, the parents reaction convinced me i was a real sinner.

I used to hate December, I hated always having to say "I don't celebrate Christmas" everytime someone wished me Merry Christmas. When I was closer to leaving , I substituted Thank-You
