Sure many bad things have been done in the name of religion AND it can impede free thought but some religion and religious people do good for our communities. Many volunteer their time and energy to help the poor and needy, put on drives to help sick kids, and get people together to discuss common problems such as chronic illness and loss.
Personally I've met both good people who were religious and non religious. It's all the same but clumping all religion into the same mold just isn't true.

Not all religion is bad. We have friends of many faiths and there are some genuinely great people who are religious.

What We Truly Deserve Is...Death, Really WT?
by JW_Rogue ini have seen this statement or similar ones popping up in the study edition of the wt lately.
whenever they talk about undeserved kindness or jesus ransom they add this little gem to get the point across.
this is sick, why do they feel the need to tear down people's self esteem?
-

I not so fondly remember older brothers and sisters making such statements during the meetings. What did we personally do to "deserve" death? Did we kill someone? No! Did we rob a bank? No! Did we steal from an old ladies purse? No!
I can never understand someone feeling such contempt for their lives. Life is precious. These people hate living.
I made this observation in the past but it's worth mentioning again: I know a couple who have a beautiful home by the lake. They are both very successful and are die-hard JW's. I stopped by on a beutiful sunny day to check out a garage sale they were having. I asked the wife how she was doing? She said, "Just trying to make it another day......" Its like really?!! Life is that bad???!!!
Anyways they also feel they deserve death and that's too bad. What a waste of a good life.🙄

Does Anyone Know The "Real" Attitude That JWs Have Towards "Inactive Ones"?
by minimus indoes the rank and file or the elders view us as disassociated or disfellowshipped or simply "weak" or possibly a "prodigal son" type?.

We are treated like lepers, even by our own family. Its ridiculous but then again, who needs those kinds of people in life?

What is the alternative to JW?
by Formerbrother ini mean this with all due respect, i would like to hear from genuine people who think jw have it wrong and then what is the truth?.
im not talking about silly little quibbles here and there.. is jehovah real?
the the bible is word?

There is no "truth" with regards to religion, especially bible-based religion.
Just live your life and do good things for others. Karma is your friend.

Looking forward to going to Memorial this year!
by kpop ini have some tricks to play.
i know it may sound childish but i feel that creating havoc and forcing the memorial to be postponed will be the highlight of the night!
wish me luck!.

You want to disrupt their Memorial? Do it by refusing to attend. Show by your not attending that you will have nothing to do with their satanic black mass ritual.

The "Paradise" as promised by the Watchtower
by Saethydd ini was thinking today about the descriptions of the future "paradise" presented by the watchtower, and i was struck by something about it.
most of us are aware that the watchtower promotes an interpretation of the apocalypse that would result in the immediate execution of 99.9% of the population with no hope for resurrection.
additionally, we have been told about the large group of people that are supposed to side with satan at the end of the thousand year reign of christ.

Interesting subject, something I have thought about many times. Revelation says that those numbered and killed after the millennial reign would be "as sand on a seashore." So if that many AFTER the thousand years don't like their future prospect then how can anyone feel like they will indeed live forever in paradise? As you observed, one wicked, independent thought means swift destruction. Census numbers during such a period would be interesting to follow.

Follow up: the baby did not survive
by Captain Schmideo2 init was always a long shot anyway.
but, after a week of emotional pain for the mom, and extreme physical pain for a helpless infant, the baby's body finally succumbed.. all those prayers from the parents, from family, from friends, were absolutely worthless.
that is a deity for ya!

Very sorry for your loss. There is no comforting a parent who has lost a child no matter their age. Sadly time doesn't really help either. We are approaching the two year mark of our daughter lost at 20 weeks with no explanation and all I can honestly say is you never forget. The saying: "Always on my mind, Forever in my heart" are the truest words ever spoken. Just be there for each other.
The paradise hope the JW's vomit out as comfort is nothing but an empty promise from an impotent nonexistent deity. Comfort and healing can come with friendship with those who have shared similar loss.

The Rainbow Promise
by Funchback inone day, the biblical god decided all humanity, less 8 individuals and some animals, should die via mass drowning, including infants, children and physically and mentally disabled people.. he expected rational people to listen to a seemingly oddball old man and enter a giant box filled with wild animals.
"god told me to warn you.
enter this thing and you will live".

So I wonder if God will feel regrets after the other thousand years and want to take his promise back and start killing humans again? Clearly he enjoys watching humans suffer.
