There is only one way to be influenced by the Holy Spirit. Either one is in the flesh or in the spirit.

Romans 8: 5 For those who are in accord with the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those in accord with the spirit on the things of the spirit. 6 For the minding of the flesh means death, but the minding of the spirit means life and peace; 7 because the minding of the flesh means enmity with God, for it is not under subjection to the law of God, nor, in fact, can it be. 8 So those who are in harmony with the flesh cannot please God.

9 However, YOU are in harmony, not with the flesh, but with the spirit, if God’s spirit truly dwells in YOU . So all of those members of the JW Great Crowd... are already not influenced by the Holy Spirit at all.

Need help showing a family member the real truth behind the Society

hey everybody im pretty new on this site, but i need help.i just got into a 30 minute debate about religion, jehovah's witnesses mostly.

now i was in the trooth for 20 years, but ive been dissed twice.

the last time i was dissed for five years.

LOL I researched age of the earth stuff very recently in fact. It was my passion. I practically lived it for 2 and a half years. I still enjoy reading about science and history, but don't have as much time as I did then. I was very rarely going to JW meetings and wasn't a Christian, and I noticed that the evolutionary materials put out by the WTBTS were crap, so I decided to start my digging there.

It is SO depressing when you just can't get through to someone

i have been hitting a brick wall trying to pry my boyfriend away from this stuff.

it just makes me cry that it's so obvious to me how wrong it is, and he's not even batting an eyelash.

he knows about all of the scandals, all of the false prophecies, the coverup of sexual predators, that elders tell abuse victims to stay with their spouses, that they dishonestly use sources, and he just doesn't care.

Here is a link to my conversation with my Dad. This conversation was designed for him, as he is also disabled and in a situation of domestic abuse. My goal was to give him hope and confidence. I couldn't break away from the org without the help of Christ and I don't want him to have to do so either. I want to strengthen him first.

i really don't think we are in the last days.

i came to the conclusion that 1914 is false and is no more than another year in man's history, so hence we are not living in the last days prophesied by jesus.

God has impressed in me eternal life and now whether I live or die I have eternity in my heart ...I don't fear any day or days

Amen. Hallelujah! I really don't care much if we are in the last days. My reward is the same regardless and I already have a taste, I am not just waiting.

this particular individual is particularly concerned that jw children will become godless, upon learning that wt is not the only true religion.

Doom! Really? Oh my god do you really have to think about your child's future in terms of doom if she doesn't ask jebus into her heart or some such cliche? How totally depressing. You are right. I didn't word things very well. My god is faithful in perfect justice and I am not worried for my family members the way JWs are.

as a side note, I don't have to preach to my daughter. She sees my life.

And my children see mine. How arrogant to think a christian life is a better example. Your words, not mine. You don't know what I mean. I am not talking about morals or example. I am talking about how my life is changing. My parenting improving as I understand unconditional love and the correct use of authority. Fruit of the spirit and faith. Mark 10:29 being fulfilled before the eyes of all. God using me to pull others out of the cult.

Love, Joy, Peace in the face of trials, truly a miraculous gift.

I tend to teach those same things.

Of course, each person must decide for themselves what is considered 'sufficient' evidence.

(Well, I try not teach my children to laugh at people for their beliefs... but certainly to apply that whole doubt and non-submission to opinion thing. And then show them 'with evidence' how those threats are misplaced/misapplied.)

Me too! Especially this one.
