Thank you Tammy. I never related the two scriptures and that is very insightful.

I forgot to say that Cornelius was called by God before receiving Holy Spirit. In other words, being called was not the same as having the Spirit.

I personally believe that God was calling to me but I had not received the Holy Spirit as confirmation of belonging to Christ until later.
My husband's story is similar to justmom in that he didn't feel condemned before we were Christians.
Neither of us were baptized in Holy Spirit until after we were saved and had accepted certain truths about Christ. Definitely not while believing the JW lie.

Either way, please get some therapy because your view of the world around you is deluded and dangerous.
I agree.
This is where it comes from:
From its inception the Watchtower Society consistently has been preaching doom and how unliveable life is.
Watchtower 1894 July 15 p.227 "… Our readers are writing to know if there may not be a mistake in the 1914 date. They say that they do not see how present conditions can hold out so long under the strain."
To be a Witness requires a special thinking process, one that motivates a person to urgency in these unprecedented wicked 'last days'. Negative imagery is constantly presented to keep members in a constant downcast state about the people around and the times we live in. Global catastrophies are welcomed as 'proof' that few years are left before Armageddon.
For instance over the last 53 years, the Scripture "critical times hard to deal with" is referred to 897 times whilst the well known verse from Psalm 23:1 "Jehovah is my Shepherd. I shall lack nothing" is only mentioned 111 times in the Watchtower. The following are typical Watchtower statements.
Kingdom Ministry April 2005 p.1 "Critical times are here. Civil strife, ethnic wars, natural disasters, and other horrific events are common place. Now more then ever, the human family needs good news."
The reality of the times we live in is quite different. A study of history shows that now is a time of comparable peace. Human rights, particularly for women and children are far greater than ever. Medical advances mean that the life expectancy in many countries has doubled in the last 100 years and can be enjoyed with far less pain. The average person living in developed countries enjoy luxuries few Kings had access to in centuries gone by. It was stated in the March 24-28th 2005 Australian Financial Review that we are living in the healthiest, most peaceful, best period of time in all history.
The Watchtower needs to prove conditions are far worse than they really are to prove it to be the Last Days and create urgency in followers to devote themselves to growing the organisation. Healthy religions do not need to create negative urgency as they are based around serving God rather than serving for salvation. Positive religions focus on improvement in life by establishment of schools, hospitals and charities, whilst a Witness waits and waits for a future time when things will get better.

I never did as a JW. When I prayed to Jesus, "I will never listen to those men again Lord, only to you." He started guiding me. I have felt His Spirit strongly at times when I needed it. I have some gifts of the Spirit as well.
I am not a Pentecostal, but I believe from my experience with them, some Pentecostal's fake the whole experience. Others really are granted gifts of the Spirit. In every group of Christians you will find some that are false and some that are true. JWs are not Christians.
I was surprised that not everyone has the same experience as me, but found this scripture was a good explanation.
1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. 6There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. 7But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common

Answer to the OP: http://kristenfrihet.se/english/truechrist.htm
It was posted in another thread. Here is a quote to get you started, but please read more:
The answer is given by Jesus himself in his parable of the wheat and the weeds (Matt. 13:24-30, 36-43). As this parable shows, Jesus Christ sowed the "fine seed"--the sons of the kingdom (verse 38). He knew, however, that "the enemy" (the devil) would oversow "weeds"--the sons of the wicked one--in among the "wheat" in the "field", (= the world, verse 38). But He would not allow his servants to collect the weeds, because "while collecting the weeds, you uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest." (Verses 29, 30)
So what does this parable tell us about which group is the "one authentically Christian group"? It shows that there would be no such thing as one group of true Christians separated from all other groups of false Christians. There would only be true and false individual Christians. True and false Christians would all exist together in the same world of Christians, mixed like wheat and weeds in the same field.
Notice that it was at the "harvest" (= at the "conclusion of a system of things", verse 39) that the angels--not Christ's servants or followers--would remove the "weeds" from "the kingdom" (= the world of Christians) and gather "the wheat" into Christ's "storehouse." (Verses 40-43, 30)

Do JWs have a biblically normative relationship with Jesus christ?
by Vanderhoven7 ini would say that that would be impossible...given that jesus christ is simply an angelic being in wts eyes.. jehovah's witnesses have about as much a relationship with the angel gabriel as they do with jesus.. and, no...tacking on the name of jesus at the end of a prayer is not evidence of relationship..

I will be quoting one of my mentors here.
Some people think that their denominational beliefs are more truer than the word of God and therefore try and make the word conform to their denominational belief. This is why I am non-denominational because it puts nothing between me and understanding the Word of God. And I have taught Carmen to do the same.
When a Christian allows the Holy Spirit to be their guide more than man then they will find more truth concerning the word than allowing a denominational belief be their guide. Now does that mean Me or Carmen don;t go to churches that may teach things we find wrong doing it this way? Nope. There are no perfect churches perfect denominational beliefs. So we have to filter out what does not belong while trying to hold on to what the Holy Spirit tells us.
Doing this I can tell you, and so can Carmen, that we have found more truth about the Word of God than we could have ever learned through man made denominations. And would we give this up to be like most Christians? Nope. We have found a direct line to God through listening to the Holy Spirit and that is something that can reveal to a person more truth than they ever thought possible. If you found that type of connection to what you seek would you change?Me again:
I feel His spirit directing me almost every day. 1 John 2:27 For me, the freedom of being led by His spirit is amazing. Christ's Spirit started leading me when I accepted Him as my only mediator and I intend for it to stay that way. In fact, "I will never listen to those men again, only to you Lord" is exactly what I prayed. And His Spirit granted me joy and my heart began to sing and I understood unconditional love for the first time in my life.I know that I have been saved, and baptized in Holy Spirit. My Lord has promised that if I ask for Holy Spirit I will receive it. Luke 11:13 He has also promised that no one will snatch me away from Him, so I know that He is guiding me. And the result of His Spirit? Exactly as He promised. Galatians 5:22-23 I will never turn away from Him in order to follow what men say. John 10:1-5; 27-28
Tammy is causing divisions? No! Quite the opposite! If only everyone would follow the words in these scriptures:
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. 6There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. 7But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. see also 1 Corinthians 2:2 and Romans 14
