Jonathan Drake, I'm so proud of your progress (even though I had nothing to do with it).
You are a fine example of rationality
omg i've never read this before or if i did i never caught it... .
13 [a]if a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,2 and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you, saying, let us go after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them, 3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the lord your god is testing you to find out if you love the lord your god with all your heart and with all your soul.
4 you shall follow the lordyour god and fear him; and you shall keep his commandments, listen to his voice, serve him, and cling to him.

a local elderette at my former hall (the same type person who posts selfies while out in "service") posted this public admonishment.
the responses are so pathetic.
these are all adults, but they still act like scared children:.
i was deleted as the cobe after i let my adult child move back home and he admitted that he fornicated under my roof while my wife and i where away on a rbc project.
of course the elder mode in me kicked him out of the house.. the elders moved quickly to remove me because i was too involved in "theocractic activities", i had neglected my adult son.. i accepted this primarily because i didn't want to serve with a boe that did not want me.
i was devastated however because it was the only life i knew.
James is now talking to a multitude of DFed JWS but he didn't have the balls to attend his own son's wedding ...
I am now talking to a multitude of DFed JWs, but I didn't have the balls previously to not shun my close friends that were disfellowshipped.
I deeply regret contributing to that abuse, however, I towed the line at the time because I thought it was right or that I would get busted and get in trouble.
There's nothing wrong with changing your viewpoint.
... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.
As a JW I would simply have replied that saving a sheep on the Sabbath was never against the Law. Jesus was showing that the Pharisees had gone beyond the Law. In the case of blood the law is very clear. There cannot be any compromise.
Ah! Now I see. To me, this principle Jesus introduced was enough to convince me differently about the Blood doctrine.
But I can definitely see a JW reacting the way you mentioned.

Where and when did you ever hear or see a JWS DFed for attending another DFed JWS wedding ?
Particularly when they are family ?
Like their own son ???
..... and be honest !
Finkelstein:
I personally know of a couple that were publicly reproved for attending their DF'd daughter's wedding. The charge was "conduct unbecoming of a Christian."
However, I've never heard of anyone getting DF'd for this. But the fact that they can form a Judicial Committee for it to begin with means you could be DF for it.
it just seems to me religion in general primarily makes truly bad people worse, not genuinly good people better; and in many cases has even made good people do bad things in the name of their religion.
just curious, a personal poll if you will.
what are you guys' current views on religion as a whole?

broadcasting a message to doubting jws on their way to the convention about watchtower pedophilia coverups: $3,272.
