what is the wackiest...strangest....most unusual jw teaching or practice?
I was just discussing this with a fader friend this morning.
One of the things I can't just get my head around is, why can't they just have a calm, rational discussion about doubts? and why can't they just agree to disagree, have a drink and move on with their lives instead of making a federal case about it?
Anyway, that's not nearly as wacky as getting together every year to pass a plate of bread and a glass of wine that not even 1% of your followers will partake of.
i must say that i have always loved jehovah and his son jesus christ.
i have a 12 inch diameter telescope.
i would go outside and listen to the psalms that praised to my god.

Though I haven't come to the same conclusion you have, I'm glad you're moving on from the org.
I do encourage you to keep reading. Read things that challenge you. It's okay to challenge your beliefs. If your beliefs are true, it won't be a challenge and you'll understand the world and universe from someone else's perspective. Read some Dawkins or Hawking to understand how your fellow ex cult members feel about the world.

It's so liberating being rid of the Borg mentality of having to defend every belief.
Or maybe it's the new Dharma mentality I'm taking on.
I can disagree with this guy now without having to get mad or get in a discussion that might get me mad.

a week or so ago i posted that the forum was 15 years old (15 years of jehovahs-witness.com) and hinted that there may be some news to announce about the site:.

well, now i can announce it - i sold it !.
while working on a comments for one of the articles in the march 15, 2015 watchtower (on types and antitypes) i decided to make a transcript of the talk that turned into that particular article.
as usual, the article that finally saw print had evolved quite a bit from the original.. anyway, here's the transcript that i also put up on the ad1914.com site.. the 2014 annual meeting program video can be found on tv.jw.org (currently found under programs and events).

I have to say, this talk was very instrumental in my waking up. I had just researched 607 BCE using non-apostate sources (purely secular sources) and had decided to just accept 607 for the time being on faith alone.
But then I heard this talk and it clicked - they're denouncing types/antitypes in one sentence, and lauding the 100 year anniversary of the made-up kingdom in the next breath.
All the reasonings for abandoning the type/antitype stuff can be used to abandon the reasoning for 1914.
Then it all came crashing down.
And then Tightpants happened and that very next week I started looking at JWN, JWfacts and downloaded Crisis of Conscience and read the parts about 1914.
Took me another month or so to completely wake up, but here I am.
Thanks to the Governing Body, I have come out of this cult!

is it just me or does anyone else see more newbies joining this site this past year and especially in the last few months .. we would love to welcome you with genuine friendship ,support ,encouragement ,a place to vent ,and not judge you.. you have the freedom to express whatever view you like and you won`t be kicked off the board.. and to learn more about the "truth" about the truth , you will not hear at a kingdom hall .. smiddy.
