My situation had pretty much nothing to do with doctrine. It was more the kind of people that were "rewarded" by Jeehoober with positions in the congregation. I was on the fast track to be one of them until one day I listened to myself become the shallow person that so many of the elders in our cong. were. I didn't want to be that person, so I started quitting my assignments and refusing new ones. Eventually, because of other reasons that I won't go into in this post, I found it easier to just stop going. Afterwards, I started seeing lots of fallacies within the church doctrines.

We had the Comet too here in the US, they just weren't as prolific. Kind of the difference between a Marquis and a Crown Vic. The Mercury was supposed to be a bit more refined.

I live in Florida and, not only is it great on gas and a perfect second "around town" car, but it's also the least expensive convertible on the market. I love my little Smart car!

This one was my first - and of course, there is always a special place in one's heart for their first car. I bought mine for $25 and towed it home. I drove the crap out of that car - that slant six was one of the best and most bullet-proof motors ever made in Detroit.

Next was my first "cool" car...an 81 Monte Carlo with T-tops. I ended up selling that car when I got married the first time. Ended up in an Escort station wagon because it was more family and "service" friendly.
And, believe it or not, I really really love the little car I have now. This was the day I brought it home....

the people who laugh and scoff at preaching against beer have never stood over the graves of a mother and child killed by a drunk driver.
i'll never forget that little casket being lowered alongside the mother's casket, because some drunk driver killed them.

Sure you can friend her, but immediately disallow her viewing of any number of things on your page. That's what I did and it works great.
i had to share this sad experience... even if it's not in my top priority list.. my older brother from my mom's first marriage unfortunately passed away last night.
he had been struggling with health issues, the last few years.
this is a very sad time in the family as you can imagine, specially because my mother lost her youngest son just five years ago.
I will say that, in respecting Mom's wishes, I had to put up with the typical JW info-mercial funeral. The elder who she wanted to give the talk did make the point to me that it would not be any sort of eulogy. Since I knew it was my Mom's wish to have this kind of service, we just swallowed it. However, a day or two later, my siblings and I - plus a family friend that was nearly an extra sister to all of us - chartered a boat and scattered her ashes at sea. No JWs - just family. We took the opportunity to talk about our thoughts of Mom and what she meant to each of us. It was the best compromise under the situation.
My deepest condolences about your brother's death. It's never easy to lose a family member.
i have heard quite a bit about the july 15th watchtower magazine on this sie.
so i went and downloaded it and read several of the articles.. page 16 paragraph 6 states : "well, apostates are mentally diseased,and they seek to infect others with their disloyal teachings".
how horrible, they seem to know sooo much about menal health !.
Haha...sounds like one of them listened to the Michael Savage radio show and just replaced "liberals" with "apostates".
