I sure don't make my living in a cubicle. I quit my job and started driving a truck. Was thebest thing I have ever done. I make good money, don't have a boss looking over my shoulder all the time...and I get to see the country.

what is it with hardcore jw's who think that everytime an elder speaks everyone should drop what they're doing and listen?.
i was over a relative's house the other day when two elders came by for a shepherding call.
they wound up talking to the wife because the husband, who fell away after the 1975 fiasco, was hiding out in the back of the house.
The Elders and I have Religious disagreements
They think they are God, and I disagree.

my door!
can you imagine that?
don't they know i'm a filthy apostulater!
Well, hell...I had a carload of them come into my neighborhood...no one knows me here as a witness, so they were surprised that the bearded dude who was trimming the yard walked over to ask them if they were lost. They said they were just looking for a place to park while they did their thing. I was hoping to invite them in for a cup of iced tea where I could quiz them on pedophelia in the cong. and I told them they could park off the street in my drive.
Next time they come back...I'm going to use some of the points brought up here....not necesarrily to "de-convert" them, but rather to get them to use their own brains that god put there for a reason.

in reading the gospels about jesus ministry i cannot help but be moved by his message and manner and i know i am not alone in feeling like this.
i marvel, smile, and slowly shake my head as i read about the miracles that he performed and have, at one time or other, wished that i could have been there to witness those marvels and to hear his voice.
perhaps like many others i have also wondered at those people who heard him and yet walked away.
This makes me think of the book "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Robert Heinlein. It was heavily edited when it was first released. I think something like 130 pages were cut out of it because it was considered "Blasphemous". The reason why is it put forth the idea of a coming of Christ at a future date and the reaction of the world to it. Yes, it took alot of liberties, but the thrust of the book, especially in its uncensored form is thought provoking. Of cours, Michael, the main character, is eventually put to death, just as Christ was.
I would like to think that I am enough of an open minded person that if Jesus came to earth today, I would at least consider what he had to say and not dismiss him or his message out of hand.
Just a thought...

when i left the jehovah's witnesses, i spent a couple of months attending local christian churches.
my wife and i did this because we thought the christian path was still ours.
later we learned that our path went in a far different direction.. .
I don't know if I was in a renegade congregation or not....(am NOT defending JW's here.) but when I was a kid in the early '70's, our cong. used to do all kinds of skits. I remember a couple of brothers dressing up in robes and everything and act as Paul and Timothy walking up and down the aisle as if they were visiting our cong. in the 1st century.
Another nite at the service meeting, they turned out all the lights...and used flashlights like spotlights...and we had our version of the tonight show...."With your host...Johnny Caresome. HeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEERS JOHNNY!"
Seems like right after '75, it all became serious and dry.

wholewheat:.
jehovah is nothing more than the very primitive concept of who and what god is that was held by a primitive, savage, illiterate group of nomads inhabiting the middle eastern lavant five thousand years ago.. jehovah is on a par with other middle eastern gods of the time; no more no less.
and we now discover through archaeology that jehovah had a wife.
LOL@ the foreskins....He also had david cut the peckers off all those philistines he slayed before he was crowned as king. Kinky, huh?
I like the song that says..
"I don't want to start any blasphemous rumors,
but I think that God has a sick sense of humor.
And, when I die,
I expect to find him laughing."

what do americans in general actually really know about the big outside world outside of their own culture?.
it's certainly not just me, but for years since early childhood in fact, it has been commonly accepted by many, that americans in general are the biggest ignorant fools residing almost anywhere on the planet, yet they still do their damndest to have everyone believe what a great nation they are.
is it even beyond their comprehension how foolish they look often to the rest of the world, the fact that they have so little understanding of problems on the worldwide front?.
Invisible...yes the WTS started here...but only because they were guaranteed the freedom to worship however they wanted to...And while we're on that subject...The big reason many coming over and their decendents becoming the founding fathers, was the desire to be free to worship in the way that they saw fit. Thus the puritans left the great empire of Britain to seek the religious freedom that they were not granted in their homeland.
P.S. I am glad you had a good laugh over this.

invisible...you are right in saying that as a whole, our nation is ignorant of world events. I addressed this somewhat on another thread. Because this nation has enjoyed a bounteous prosperity for so long, most have become oblivious to the happenings in the outside world unless it directly effects them in some way. If not...why be bothered with happenings in Turdistan or Shithapenztan? All our cell phones, computers, nintendo, new cars, fashion trends, oh, and let's not forget...all out Hollywood movies and Dawson's Creek-like shows would be a better way to occupy our time and energies.
I for one, really strive to take a broader world view. I try to find other sources of information when I can rather than just depending on government or special interest controlled news agencies. I find that limiting my world view to what is put before me by Dan Rather is akin to going to an "all you can eat buffet" and only hitting the appetizer bar.
"yet they still do their damndest to have everyone believe what a great nation they are."
We must be doing something right....Look at all the people from other countries who still do their best to get in through any means. We may be a "young" nation, but that's part of what is titillating to other nations. We have a vigor that many "older" nations seem to have lost. We have been willing to take risks that older nations have shied away from. Yep...sometimes we get burned by it, but at other times we've reaped great rewards.
As far as the whole "ass licking" thing...well, i'm not too into that. I'd rather lick other parts of a female anatomy.
I beg pardon for the ignorance, but see nothing wrong with showing the pride that many interpret as arrogance. As far as being "stupid", this is defined as wellgiven to unintelligent decisions or acts : acting in an unintelligent or careless manner . I think all nations continue to be guilty of this, not just America.
Just some random thoughts...

i was just reading over there and thought some of them should really think before they post!
some real jerk posted this: umm, don't count your time spent eating lunch - unless you witness to the waitress.
give her a real tip - how to get into the new system.. .
My JW exwife once tried to spell the variant of y'all...you'ns.LMAO She also told me that snow mixed with rain wasn't sleet, but snain. I think the GB could have used her on the writing comittee to make up words like "happifying" and other classics.

P.S. I'd like to get on PLN to check stuff out and innocently post...but I don't have a referral name that is required. Anyone care to help me out?
do you remember these two gems of spiritual insight?
``at times explanations given by jehovah's visible organization have shown adjustments, seemingly to previous points of view.
but this has not actually been the case.
LOL...Maybe someone's smokin' somethin' rolled in zig-zags that's making them write all this contradictory crap.
