i am technically still a jw but not a believer.
Depends on which definition on "witness" you use. Either the new or the old...If you are going by what I always grew up with, I am still technically a witness...inactive, but a witness. According to the new stuff, they say no...but no announcements have been made in regards to my official status.

I don't have any tats, but my friend has quite a bit of ink. The last time we were in L.A. he got one on the inside of each bicep. He said that they hurt pretty bad, but that's because it's a tender area anyway. They look really good now. Next time I get out to L.A., I'm going to have our friend Mike do one on my right shoulder w/ my daughter's name on a heart. It will be one that I can show off when I want but can cover too.

i finally decided it was time to throw away my decrepit austin montego and get something for work that was a little less..well, tatty.. i need to carry ladders and tools and things.
however having had the experience of losing (stolen, actually) the tools from a van on 2 occasions, i know the value of having a car for work that has at least got a boot large enough to be able to hold my gear, without actually advertising the fact that, hey look, easy pickings!.
so, a car is what i needed.
Okay...a little trucker wisdom here...
Of course, the engines I'm used to are 500 H.P. Detroits or Caterpillars. But, the principles are the same. I would recommend using a really good diesel injector cleaner as well as (when the weather is cold) using a good anti-gel addative. This will definitely ease your starting troubles. An engine block heater is also a really good idea.

someone asked simon recently if the name jehovah's witness was copyrighted (referring to part of this forum's name) and it reminded me of a note i had taken while reading old publications at bethel about a quarter-century ago.
here's the trivia question.. what (or when, or where) was the society's first specific reference in print to a "jehovah's witness?

Yep...I had my porno stash and cussed like a sailor at work. (that could be tricky since the P.O. worked where I did 3 days a week.) I too, had the "gift" of ginning up any amount of horse-s*it, even at the last minute and presenting a bang-up talk. I was asked to do all kinds of things. I was not an MS but was doing Literature, Mags, and Territory all at the same time. I was so glad when I started turning down those jobs....and quitting the ones I had. I was finally free when I quit the TMS.

Hey, guys...I would love to, but it is now a closed community. I just got in because I was already there and am a good actor and BS artist. It used to be that anyone could go there and look at the posts...now they've locked the community and if you aren't a member, you can't even read the posts in the forum.
If you can get loads of current JW info, and are a really good actor...maybe you can get in there.

So, I was in a JW chatroom the other night. I found it interesting to say the least. I couldn't copy and past the chat, though I would have liked to. The first subject that came up was about "headship" and all that. It was amazing to me to hear a woman who was married to an abusive man for 28 years and then he finally left her, tell me that even though he was abusive and an a-hole, she still respected him.
Well, you know me....I couldn't keep my big mouth (read fast, fat fingers)...and I just had to say a few things about "submission". There were those that put forth that marriage and it's success is based on a couples spirituality. I told them that they were way off and there were too many factors that have little to do with a person's spirituality.
it was interesting to say the least. It was also a cause for several to bail on me out of the chatroom. Of course, I tried to make nice so I don't get banned from there. I figure some were positively effected. I had 2 different ladies pm'ing me voicing their agreement. One of them even expressed her amazement at the way some continue to wear their rose colored glasses.
So then, Mr. divorced elder starts talking about their DO...he was DESPERATELY trying to change the subject...he says that their DO was giving the talk and brough out how when Jesus was baptized that "the heavens opened up" and how "this was not literal" and "this showed his being revealed his pre-human existence."
I said...that's an interesting theory...what scriptures do they use to support that? Well, Mr. elder left the chat without answering my question. So, I made the statement that the interpretation is an assumption. Those that were still there immediately began researching like crazy. Of course I apologized for asking a nitpicking question but that I just don't like suppositions and loose ends. Well...by the time I left....there were only 3 left in chat. 2 were stumped to the point of "jehovah will reveal it in time" and "new light"...but the other (yes, she's "weak" already) said that it really bothered her....that she had assumed that she had read scriptures that supported this and that "this is bad" to have something like this presented as fact. My hanging out there from time to time is working. For some, it's starting to get them thinking.

i saw my first robin of the year today.
spring is finally on the way and i am feeling a little pagan.
i believe that some sort of spring celebration combined with a happy dance is in order.
I have a ritual every spring. Immediately after I see my first daffodill blossom, I conduct my ritual. I wait until the twilight hours and I set about getting ready. I place small pieces of wood that have passed through the fire and place them into my ritual cauldron. I pour a secret formula distilled in places far away from me...and then I light the contents on fire. I then proceed to take the flesh from gallus gallus and bos flesh....and I place it in the fire and char it. Then I gather those of my circle and we injest the remains that we pull out of the fire and usually we have prepared other potions and we drink exotic brews that have been made from secret recipes in far off places.
Of course, then I usually fall asleep in front of the TV watching the Race or a football game....

The concluding statement of the Psalmist as given in our text is that he would pay his vows "in the presence of all His [God's] people." It is not enough that we shall be loyal in our hearts; but the Lord desires a public confession, a witness before men. "With the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:10.) And all the witnesses for the Truth must be martyrs for the Truth. They must, in other words, be willing to suffer for it. And so it will be to a large extent with those who are faithfully, courageously, holding up the banner of Truth. They will be targets for the Adversary.
Our Master said that whoever would not confess Him before men, He would not confess before the Father and before the holy angels. Only those who are thoroughly loyal are to be of this very select company of which our Lord is the Head, and which is soon now to be gathered into the Heavenly Garner.
Then let us appreciate more and more this "cup of blessing" which we are privileged to drink with our blessed Master; and let us "call upon the name of the Lord" for grace to help in every time of need. We need Him daily, hourly, momentarily. And we may come to the Throne of Grace at any time in the name of our great Advocate.
Our Father's ear is ever open to the cry of His children. They are as dear to Him "as the apple of His eye." They "are graven upon the palms of His hands." "As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you," is His promise to His own. All that we can render will be at best very, very little in return for all His bounties, for all His matchless grace toward us. But the measure of love and zeal that accompanies our little all will indicate the measure of our gratitude to our Heavenly Father and our great Redeemer.
