Any tips for safe web surfing?
by compound complex ingreetings to all who surf shark-infested internet waters.. after i was hit by ransomware the other day, i did research on so-called safe sites.
it seems more and more sites are being infected deliberately by hackers.
i went to a legit-looking site on a famous artist and -- wham!

Vacation Destination: Looking for Input
by confusedandalone inso when the kids get out of school we plan on going away for 3 to 4 weeks for vacation but we want to go somewhere that is actually enjoyable and not just packed full of things for the kids to do.
cruises are out, to confining.
i live in the u.s. so i want to abroad an continue to get the kids passports stamped so they can be exposed to as many cultures as possible.. .

Have you considered Romania? Not as exotic as New Zealand, but there are some nice places to visit and quite a bit amount of culture too,a few medieval styled cities and mountains as well as the Danube Delta. While here you could also visit Budapest, Hungary (also an awesome place). These two countries are adjacent to eachother.

New to The Jehovahs Witness Faith and need some help

i am very excited and hungry for the truth and have not missed a meeting or study since the memorial.
we do about 2 bible studies a week.

Main reason JWs are JWs
by Batman89 inwhat is the(or what was your) main motivation for serving god as a jw(or any christian)?.
a) love for god and genuinely trying to learn more about him and bible truths?.
b) to escape punishment/death at armegddon?.

For me it was B, but I'd like to rephrase it as "to gain everlasting life". It wasn't the fear of death at armageddon that motivated me, but what was promised that will be waiting for me after.
It's a bunch of lies anyway, what does it matter now?

Can White JWs Have Mustaches?
by Space Madness insomeone mentioned in another thread that white jws can't have mustaches but black jws can.
i noticed that the only governing body member with a mustache is black.
can anyone confirm that this is an official policy?

In my ex-cong one of the elders had mustache. I know many others who have. Beard on the other hand is a big no-no. You can't have privilages if you have beard.
Jam, that's insane. What a bunch of fools. One angel can kill 6.42 human/second but can't tell the difference between a jw and a non-jw? That's their logic. My brain is melted from this one.

My Story
by objectivetruth ini'm 30 years old, and i was raised in the organization, my parents and grandparents are witnesses.. i grew up in a small town, and due to boredom or adhd or rebellion, i never took 2 minutes to look into the religion.. i always went to meetings and field service.
my parents were regular, but never "super-witnesses" so it was always the thing we did (meetings and service) not much more and nothing less.. the congregation, that i grew up in was for the most part friendly and enjoyable.. small towns, are very unique and they cannot be compared to larger city congregations.. i honk that they are a living and breathing organism, depending on the coordinators personality, so goes the personality of the congregation.
thi king back, most of the people in the town that i grew up were good people, just simple hard working & honest people... i really long for the innocence, of the time when this was the truth, and there were no worries.. driving to the conventions at 3 am with my dad and another brother, them slicing meat, me sneaking around the halls of the college, getting into all kinds of things.. conventions were a really special time for me... when i was young me and my friends would run around, messing around, pulling pranks on people, getting into forbidden areas.. running in the hall ways.

Accepting the reality was the hardest thing in finding out TTATT. I'd lie if I said that I don't wish it was true. I wish it was, i wish we could live forever but there's nothing I can do about it, but to accept and try to get the most out of my life. I appreciate life much more now then when I beleived the jw doctrines.
I do agree when you say small towns are different. I couldn't imagine though that such parties you described would happen here in my country. People here are generally more 'moral' let alone a jw having oral sex at a party. We don't even have parties here. No dance at getogethers, and I couldn't imagine more then 10 young jws throwing a 'party' without at least two ms present. Now I'm from eastern europe, things are different.
The moral of the story: jws are not that united nor such saints they say they are. Young jws from the US must be a pain in the ass for the GB.

And there goes another wasted life.. To the op: you'll need every last part of your critical thinking skill. Don't rush anything, just ask and question everything jws tell you. They forced me not to talk to my mother for 3 years when I was still a kid. Because that's their policy. QUESTION EVERYTHING THEY SAY!

Same thing here. Judged for attending college, judged for talking to my df-ed mother, judged for having a unique hairstyle (lol, yes). After a while you get fed up and ignore them totally.
