I normally would be at the meeting this time, but what's better than watching George Carlin making fun of religion, and reading your funny posts? You guys made my day, thank you :)) I'm LMAO.

How Do You Come to Terms with Being Just One of the 7 Billion?
by will-be-apostate inbeing a jw makes one feel special, no doubt.
when i found out ttatt i realized i'm not special at all.
i'm just one of the other 7 billion human beings who will live and die being nobody, the world will forget about them (and i'm not talking about relatives and friend), they didn't make anything special in their life, they didn't change the course of history, were not famous nor rich, didn't invent facebook, google or anything awesome, didn't have an article published in newscientist, had no imdb profil, not even a wiki page, didn't write a book etc.

Ok, I think you misunderstood me. By special I meant that I thought I found the backdoor of the system, a hack, that I knew how to live forever whereas "wordly" people didn't.
Vidiot I can't see how the pressure is gone. I watch my favorite TV show or the Cosmos and I don't feel like the pressure to be someone who matters is gone at alll.
I hated being that weird kid who didn't join in at school
I can relate to that.

Hi to all of you who posted on this thread. You shared some valuable thoughts and quotes. I'd like to say something nice but I was working for the past 12 hours and have literally no energy to phrase more complex sentences. Rise and shine you from the west, I'm gonna go to bed now.

Describe What a Jehovah's Witness Elder Is Like
by minimus ini know what they are supposed to be like.
but at this point in time, do you think the elders look joyful?
are they serious bible students?

In my town a few of them are d*cks but the majority are genuin persons who are just as victims of the wts propaganda as we once were. This is the impression that they made in the everyday life. I haven't been in a jc yet, can't say whether they maintain their nice behavior. As forthi one of our CO and one particular elder from my cong: these two I could turture with my apostate speaches all day long. They said I would die at Armageddon if I said even hi to my df-ed mum. This was when I was 14.
Most of the elders I know would be really cool persons if they weren't brainwashed. I have no full insight in their personal life though but I often hear things that shock me

Hi Phaedra. Thanks for sharing your point of view. Death is the great equalizer indeed. As for myself I found that when I accomplish something that makes me happy. Probably that explains my desire to make something big. However I feel the same way you do when you, that it's all stribing after wind.
Mynameislame said that finding out TTATT puts one ahead not behind, and I totally agreed. I don't prefer to be misled.
What I have decided is that I'm gonna try to get the best out of my situation. It's also comforting to know that many of you understands me and even feels the same way.

Thank you for sharing your opinions on this matter. I agree that we can't be all famous. I guess I need to be a lot more positive. That song by Kenye West has an interesting lyrics. CultBgone, I've sent you a pm :)
It sounds like you are all beleivers. I'd like to know what do atheist members think about this subject.
Mynameislame: I often think if those kind of quotes really reflect the author's point of view or they just say cuz it sounds nice from a people in his position to say such things.
Stuckinarut2: Yeah, we used to knock on people's door saturday morning and "preach" to them the "good" news.

Being a jw makes one feel special, no doubt. When I found out TTATT I realized I'm not special at all. Now, there is a moment when you start calculating your chances, the odds for big things to happen with you, and you realize: nope, that's not gonna happen, you were born in the wrong place and wrong time, needed to fight for things that for others come with the package.
Being raised up as a jw, I think I'm not starting life from zero, I'm starting from minus (insert three digit number here). It's like fighting in a war of which outcome has already been decided. I realize I can't get out of this situation without hurting myself and all the people who are important to me. I want to be able to become an insensitive person and just stop caring about how others might feel if I did this thing or that thing. Sometimes it happens but that's just despair and anger claiming my brain.
A reset button would be handy. I'm not making the depressed, low-selfesteemed guy here, just am trying to be realistic. If you understand anything from the above I'm open for your thoughts. And no offense for those individuals on this forum who did achieved something big in life; I know there are such members; better said no offense to anybody.

I NEVER Hear A JW Talk About Never Dying & Living Forever In Paradise Anymore!
by minimus ini was raised with this belief, that we would never die and actually make it into the "new system".
mu faithful jw aunt still talked about my mother (her sister) and her walking together into the great tribulation--- and never die at all!
she spoke of that 2 days before she passed away.. i believe most witnesses expect to die and then get resurrected.

I can see that in my town every jw counts in the strong possibility of dying in this system when they speak about the future. I noticed that some in their late 40s don't beleive they will get through Armageddon alive. My grandma recently reasons a lot in the following way: "where could we go? the wts gives us the best life we could ever have". It's like she doesn't beleive anymore she would get to see the paradise and is trying to lie to herself that she didn't waste her life for nothing.

Thank you BU2B and the others for your kind words. I'm happy that finally I can contribute to the community, but it's you guys who have a lot of experience and an amazing way of reasoning and logic that always makes me drop my jaws and ask myself: "why didn't I think of that one?".
Two of my friends have already asked me about the letter (I've posted it on facebook) and I'm sure others have noticed it to. I told them what was the letter about and that it's their business to draw conclusions, as for myself it makes me think. I hope they start thinking. :)
Also, Paralipomenon: your post is priceless, thank you for sharing that letter. KiddingMe: Sure it's okey. The whole reason of this thread is to provide all the possible ways and sources to disprove the WTS' respond to Brant and prepare for eventually debate with jws on this matter.
