Imbue.. The opportunity happened so fast and I took it..I was more scared before it happened. I knew that I was going to have to make the changes in my life and wasn't sure where to start. Being married for the past 19 years I had become so dependent on someone else and in making the arrangements he was sure to let me know that I'll never make it on my own. It was a little intimidating but then I have had enough of that being a dub all my life that I figured once I break from that grip that I will overcome those insecurities. It is a huge change and I'm glad that it snowballed so fast or I may have lost the nerve to go through with it. I am nervous knowing that I have a child to provide for. I guess this is my welcome to the real world. Mango.. I will have the company of the most wonderful and supporting daughter that anyone could ever ask for.

Lessons I've learned...
by WildTurkey inlets post lessons we have learned:.
i've learned that no matter how much i care, some people are just assholes.. .
i've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and only suspicion, not proof, to destroy it..

Actions speak louder then words. Love is a four letter word. Life is what you make of it. If you don't give a 100% in what you believe in....you don't really believe it.

Out of 14 paragraphs in the study article I counted at least 11 times where it said to refer to the Watchtower....hmmmmm maybe they are afraid that the scriptures they cited wouldn't be enough to convince the readers.

DID YOU EVER RAT ON SOMEBODY???
by minimus inthe congregation was always being told to root out any person who was engaged in wrongdoing.
if it was a best friend or even a family member, you were to inform the elders so that they could look into the matter and investigate any possible sin.
the elders pretty much told the brothers that those knowing of a sin and not reporting it were as guilty as the person that actually sinned!

Nope..not once did I rat anyone out..besides, if I did there was usually much more to tell on me. I liked to call it covering my own a$$.

HAVE you CHANGED???
by minimus inafter reading so many comments about our collective personalities, i wonder how we were percieved by the congregation in general.
some of us on the board seem to be shy, others appear to be stronger type personalities.some stories that i have read, suggest that when you left the organization, either nobody was surprised or everyone was shocked.
do you think that you are basically the same type of person , now, as you were when you were attending meetings?

I have changed..some for the good and some for the bad. I am more compassionate now, a freethinker..(yeah!!!) much more independent. On the down side I think I am more selfish maybe because I'm thinking more of how I feel verses how others think I should feel. Maybe that happened because of the free thinking. It would have been much easier to have let things stay the way they were but then I would always have to be heavily sedated. <g> Yes, I have changed and the change is good. Now If I can just get some people (OK, one person) off my back and quit trying to tell me how I should feel and what I should be thinking I'd have no complaints. *damn I hate when someone begs. Until then, the only thing I know to do is let out a very loud scream...I hope the neighbors don't mind..now if you all will excuse me

An example of the way JWs are Brainwashed

i heard this with my own ears!

Why they want you to avoid the Internet.... Internet = Free thinking Free thinking =Apostasy Why? Once you are able to decipher between truth and lies you see it for what it is. Apostasy = Truth

Mistaken DF Anouncement!!!
by voltaire inmy brother's visiting and natually we got to reminiscing about the congregation back home.
we recalled one of the most astonishing things that ever happened in our congregation(that's saying plenty, too!!!).
names have been changed.. an elder is called up to the podium, obviously about to make a judicial announcement.

Karla.....
Lmao.... those were the days..that's when I would give your X-hubby a hug and kiss on the cheek just to shake things up a bit..ahhhhhh...I do miss that, the looks I would get were a riot. Not to mention they didn't know what to do when I started going around talking to everyone. Maybe I'll go for a visit.
