Ding...it would not be the first time that I have done this. I challenged another elder over disparaging comments he made regarding non-believing or spiritually weak mates. I guess I get away with it because I served with the body for so long. I am planning my fade-exit strategy and can't wait for the last time I ever set foot in a Kingdumb Hall!

Last week I was caught off guard when a Brother asked me to close the meeting with prayer. (I have been deleted from all my assignments and so-called privileges without a spoken word from anyone-not surprising) I used to pray all the time having served as an elder for 12 years until I stepped aside, although I still pray; my prayers are the not usual fare you would hear at the Kindumb Hall. When I delivered my prayer I asked God to be with all those going through hardships around the world and was very specific, such as the unrest in the Middle East, earthquake survivors of Turkey, under privileged children and victims of injustice. I did not specify that God only consider JW's, rather I included everyone and did not mention the brothers, the GB, faithful slave rather just "all sorts of men".
After the meeting I had quite a number comment that it was so refreshing that I included all these people and not just JW's. The one exception was an elder that questioned my prayer and asked why I generalized instead of praying for my "related to us in the faith". He is nothing but a pompous ass. He has been removed as an elder three times and yet these idiots continue re-appointing him. When I told him about the positive comments I received by some in the congregation the only thing he said was "who said this to you". (How loving)
I told him that nowhere did Jesus teach us to pray this way. His model prayer does not include this feature of praying which in my opinion has slipped into the congregations and is not scriptural. I told him to the contrary the scriptures tell us that we should pray "for all men" and challenged him to do show me a scripture to the contrary. He said, "Show me this scripture". I said "you first, you are the one offering me counsel without any scriptural backing" Then I got in his personal space and said, "show me from the bible, any translation why I should only mention fellow JW's then I will show you my scriptural grounds." This moron is obviously not familiar with1 Timothy 2:1-5
I highly doubt he will challenge me and if he does he will hand pick scriptures where we are encouraged to pray for our fellow believers however the scripture in 1Timothy says; "I therefore exhort, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, offerings of thanks, be made concerning all sorts of men" NWT
I can practically write the script of what bible texts he will read but 1Timothy will trump all of them. Typical elder; does not know his bible, just scripted clippings from the WT and the secret elder's owner’s manual. (I should know I was exactly the same; however since my awakening I now know the bible better than I ever have!)
Cheers!

Shunning is so stupid
by AwSnap ini cannot seem to shake the visual image i have from about 5 days ago.
i went over to my mom's house, and apparently she didn't mention it to my younger sister (who lives in their downstairs apartment).
she and her baby were visiting with my mom, and when she saw me walking up the side walk, she grabbed her toddler up in her arms and i saw her hauling ass down the stairs....the toddler didn't understand why she was just snatched up and hauled away and started screaming.

Well you can't really blame your sister; afterall the rhetoric as of late from the WTS regarding the "mentally diseased". Most JW's believe that this condition is extremely contagious and if you are within close proximity to run to the other side of the road and duck for cover, or like your sister, seek shelter in her home proteced by Holy Spirit (on loan from the annointed class) and to pray fervently to Jehovah to please have this Mentally Diseased one pass over your household. Don't be surprised if she keeps an ample supply of goats blood to paint her door posts for protection!

I had a discussion last night with my fleshly brother that is dug in to the Borg like a tick. I challenged him on Matthew 19:28 as I have always taken issue with this scripture even before the figurative scales were removed from my eyes!
I asked him so the anointed are judging the anointed? He replied, “I understand how this could be confusing, however the WT says it is a special reference to the other sheep”. I said “special reference? When does Jesus say that this is a special reference?” Paragraph 1 says that spiritual Israel usually applies to the anointed. I said this is misleading statement by the WT because this expression ALWAYS refers to the anointed, not usually. In fact this is the only reference that the WTS has decided to classify Spiritual Israel as the great crowd. In addition this was Jesus himself speaking; why would he say something so confusing? Why wouldn’t he say something like; “you who have followed me will also yourselves sit upon twelve thrones, judging a great multitude of believers” or “Judging men of the earth”…anything?I said perhaps, like the rest of the entire book of Revelation the number 144,000 is also figurative. He then turned white as a ghost and said “well that’s where faith comes in”. Then he quickly changed the subject. I am sure he now considers me to be of the “Mentally Diseased Class”.
I feel sorry for the multitudes of such good hearted, sincere people caught up in the mire of deception from the WTS. Makes me very sad!

"The Brothers"

the longer you spend away from the organisation, the more utterly cringeworthy this term sounds when you hear it.. like they are all one big happy family.
what jw phrases make you cringe?.

One brother I know always refers to the Kingdom Hall from the paltform and in his insincere prayers as "the center of true worship in the community'. GAG

Next time I submit a post I will do a much better job of proof reading. Sorry for the "faux pas" of attributing Paul as the writer of Revelation.

I know there are numerous examples that I could attack, however of all the misapplication of scriptures Hebrews 10:24,25 really annoys me. Nowhere in the context of this scripture does it refer to formalized worship. It merely encourages the gathering together of individuals. If this was so important why did not the Apostle Paul say in verse 25; “not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together at the temple, as some have the custom…” Paul was simply referring to being hospitable. Why do I make this claim? For a couple reasons; If you consider the passage at Rev 7:15 (penned by Paul) he stated that “they are rendering sacred service day and night in his temple…” Then in Mark 14:49 Mark emphatically states; “Day after day I was with you in the temple teaching…” So if the admonition was to be construed as Temple Worship or gatherings why not just state that. Was this a foreign expression to Paul the bible writer? NO.
My opinion of the application has a direct correlation to HOSPITALITY. After all this would not be the first time Paul reminded his followers to be hospitable as a matter of interest when outlining the qualifications of older men in the first century congregation; hospitality was a quality that these men should possess. In practical terms how many times have you been invited to a fellow worshiper’s home and the conversation turns into a spiritual discussion. It gives you a platform to express your viewpoint in an open and candid environment. I know from personal experience that in a forum such as this I always felt more encouraged and uplifted than any formal meeting at the Kingdom Hall. The most annoying point the WTS makes about this scripture is when they state that "Paul's words were a command and that regular meeting attendance is not optional." How the WTS loves to twist and manipulate the holy writings to exert control over the common people-disgusting!
I have shared my opinion as to the true meaning of this scripture to several people and surprisingly the majority ot them tend to agree with me. Although these days I need to be careful how forcefully I impose my opinion so as not to be labelled as “mentally diseased”.
Comments? What are some other misapplied scriptures that you would like to share.
Cheers.

MrFreeze...it is ironic that I was washing windows. It was more of an excuse to try out my new power washer. It is true that you have your choice with MOT (members of the tribe) that is window washers, carpet cleaners or janitors. I was a rebel and attended University, my daughter is in her second year of University and my son will also be getting an education.
