Elmer, this scenario is not as far fetched as you might imagine. 50 years ago, the Governing Body was still a new arrangement as was the Elder arrangement. New procedures and rules were being considered and implemented and others discarded. In 1972 I was 17 and serving (I hate that word) where the need was great. I was told that if I stayed at this assignment I would be made a Ministerial Servant (pre-approved by the Service Department) and at age 19 I would be made an Elder (That appointment I was told needed to go before the Governing Body for approval but the Circuit Overseer did not see an issue). You can take SeaBreeze at their word.

Internal Watchtower Statistics Re: Disfellowshipping and Shunning
by NotFormer indoes the wt have a person/department/section tasked with compiling data and analysing it statistically.
or have they started doing something like that now that they are hiring external consultancies?.
i ask the question because i'm wondering if such studies and statistical analysis would show any link between the harshness of the disfellowshipping policy as it is applied and the dropout rate of people within the organisation who have just had enough.. in previous threads it has been pointed out that the old approach isn't effective any more.

How will history treat Judge Rutherford?
by Vanderhoven7 inmark jones writes:.
how will history treat joseph rutherford?.
like ben gorden has said, it would depend on who’s looking back.

One correction, Van. Rutherford was not living alone in HIS mansion. There were two others with him:
Bonnie Boyd who was 31 years old, single and worked as a servant.
Donald Haslett who was 34 years old, married and worked as a servant.
(According to the 1930 Federal census)
(Interestingly enough, Hasletts' wife was back in Brooklyn Bethel)
Much has been written here about a possible relationship between Rutherford and Bonnie. I wouldn't put anything past him.
In the 1930 Federal census he is listed as owner of the house and as an interesting side note it was the most EXPENSIVE house in the neighborhood by far.

I think you missed one, Harold:
"The year 1925 is a date definitely and clearly marked in Scripture, even more clearly than
that of 1914..." - Watchtower July 15, 1924 page 211
A+ for EFFORT.
F- for truthfulness of content and historical accuracy.

Is a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses marries a disfellowshipped person, what is the outcome?
by EdenOne inhello all.. i need a quick answer, and also a solid reference in the literature, please.. if a jw marries an unbeliever, there is reproof, it's frowned upon, it's disloyal, there will be loss of privileges, etc, but there's no other more serious consequences.
but, in a scenario where two people are free to marry, but one is a baptized jw and the other is disfellowshipped / disassociated, what are the consequences?.
thanks for your help.. r..

"My favorite part of the tour ", said DisgruntledFool, "was the adults only section. I especially enjoyed the scene depicting King David committing adultery with Bathsheba, plotting her husbands murder and then being forgiven by Jehovah while other men who committed lesser crimes were stoned to death. As an Elder, this gives me insight into how to handle modern day moral indiscretions; especially those committed by my fellow Elders."
