God has allowed us to see the light of life so that we might make of it what we will. Our decisions and how we respond to our thrownness and to existential everydayness determine who we ultimately become and how we fare in this world. We cannot blame others for the decisions that we make in our field of being. We are free rational substances with a high degree of autonomy. We rational substances possess volitional freedom and the ability to experience individuation.

Therefore one should not abdicate the responsbility of living authentically (Existenz). Do not blame the Society for the decisions you make. Even the decision to use one's thrownness to become a jw is an act of freedom. Freedom brings with it responsibility. Fredom also includes the potential for enjoying blessings or suffering maledictions.

Use your freedom wisely and responsibly.

Split infinitive ruins society

a couple of years ago the queen in her address to the nation used a split infinitive for the first time.

needless to say, society has been reeling from the consequences of this lapse of judgement ever since.

Wrong! Why could not Jesus be "godlike" or "the image of the invisible God"? Why could one not understand John 1:1 to be saying that the Logos was god of a sort? Check the way that German translations handle this passage.

The Logos is not to be strictly identified with Jesus. So your premise is malformed on one count. It is invalid on another count since it is not correct to reason that if there is only one true God and Jesus is not the one true God he must then be a false god. Add logic to your list of study projects.

Sanctum is a first/second declension neuter adjectival form of sanctus. Sanctorum is the neuter genitive plural form of sanctus. Look it up for yourself, dude.

Do not change the subject. You made an assertion and it is up to you to provide support for your assertion. The account says nothing about keeping virgins for sex slaves. You are just adding your own thoughts to the Bible. You wake up!

But what I meant is that there is no definite article used in John 1:1c. The construction is also an example of a precopulative predicate nominative which is anarthrous. The construction is either qualitative, indefinite or definite. P.B. Harner argued that the construction is qualitative. While we take issue with the implications that Harner drew from his research, we think that the construction could be syntactically qualitative and thus indicate that the word was godlike. In that case he would not be God.

Notice that the word was also with God.

John 1:1 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god." Are you implying that the Word was a god as in another god? It sure sounds like you folks are talking about more than one God.$$$

There is one God but there are many legitimate gods. Do you understand what I am saying?

The word was a god means that the word was godlike. He is theos without the definite article. While it is not the definite article alone that negates the word's deity, however, the whole syntactical structure in John 1:1 seems to undermine the Trinity doctrine.
