At the memorial a couple of years ago, an elderly brother was chosen to say the opening prayer. He started the prayer with: Jehovah our father in heaven, oh this is a most sacred night. ‘‘Twas Nisan 14 and your glory was seen......and he just droned on and on and on........ really, your using a now defunct kingdom song as your opening prayer?

Midweek Meeting looooooooong prayers.
by Davros inone thing that aggravates me is long concluding prayers, especially at the midweek meeting.
you work all day, rush home, grab a quick bite, dress up in meeting clothes.
then, go to the meeting.

Oh...how I can relate to this thread! You'd think Davros & I attend the same congregation
I won’t tell if you won’t 🤐😬
but seriously it’s not a talk. It’s supposed to be a prayer. So many self righteous around. Guess they are just about everywhere.

One thing that aggravates me is long concluding prayers, especially at the midweek meeting.
You work all day, rush home, grab a quick bite, dress up in meeting clothes.
Then, go to the meeting. Listen to not only the parts, but the comments, most of which are just so repetitive. Yes, Sister Self-Righteous just made the same point 2 comments ago. Then listen to the recap and what’s coming up next week.
THEN, they call on Brother Blabbermouth who doesn’t shut up to give the concluding prayer, but he’s not really giving a prayer, he’s giving another talk, it’s ANOTHER recap of the meeting and it’s the same points we just heard three or more times already.
It’s late, most people are tired and want to go home. But Brother Blabbermouth won’t shut the blank up. 5 to 7 minute prayer sometimes. Drives me nuts.

Kingdom Hall Scheduler

No, that doesn't sound right. Anyway, a phone number is all that is needed for texts to be sent out. Who they have their phone service through doesn't come into play at all. Unless one of the elders is trying to get as many people to switch over to a particular carrier as part of some sort of business or pyramid scheme he may be involved in.

Self Righteous Ones
by Davros indid every congregation have one or two self righteous suck ups?
you know the type.
the one who always has a platform assignment.

Davros
Really your actually asking that ?
Yes I am. Perhaps there are some congregations somewhere that didn’t have individuals or families that are total jerks. But I guess not.

Yes. Enough to make you nauseous. They were all bucking for eldership.
Yes. Exactly. And in my experience, they get even worse one they are appointed as an Elder. Some even act as, for lack of a better term, Super Elder, where they think that every utterance that comes from their mouth is inspired by Jehovah. When in reality they are clueless, ignorant, and quite frankly, stupid and naive.

Did every congregation have one or two self righteous suck ups? You know the type. The one who always has a platform assignment. The one who gets to always lead the congregation in prayer and does so with his eyes closed the tightest, head raised, and just goes on and on and on...and on....and on, especially if it’s a concluding prayer and the meeting is already running late.
The one who tries to act more spiritual than everyone else, and let’s you know that he is more spiritually mature than most every chance he gets.
Does every congregation seem to have one of those? Do they all get to become elders?

Funny, I'd have thought that any JW who voted on the sly would've leaned more rightward
I would have thought so too, but I think it depends on where in the US a person would be located. In most major cities, most people lean left and it seems that JW's in larger areas on both the East and West coast tend to lean that way as well.
Also, I think the admiration of the Obama's come from more than politics, but I'm not going to bring that subject up cause that's a whole other issue that I see as well, and JW's aren't supposed to be proud of their heritage or nationality.
