Hello outnfree,
Thank very much for you kind words. Much appreciated. I have had a little more time on my hands lately.
Anyway, here is another little writeup on the same topic about the WTS:
---------------------------------------
No false alarm!
There seem to be no end to embarrassing statements in the Watchtower literature. Statements that scream and shout out the fact that this is the work of an incredibly bungling and totally incompetent organization. Take a look at this hopeless statement from “Gods channel”:
“w53 648 - These events began to occur on earth in the year 1914, and continue to assert themselves to the present day. Not just one or two of these momentous happenings have come upon this generation, but all of them. NO FALSE ALARM THIS!”
Well, we all know what happened to the “Creators promise” about the “1914 generation”.
One wonders what it takes to make a “false alarm” in Brooklyn? When one looks at the totally wacko statements made by the Watchtower up through the years about this obvious “false alarm” it is really quite hilarious:
“w62 132 - So while this doomed world is in spasms of fear and perplexity, Jesus' true followers lift up their heads with joy, knowing that this generation that is still alive from A.D. 1914 is the generation Jesus said would see "all things occur," including this world's end. Deliverance for Jesus' true followers into God's new world is due within this generation!”
“w73 61 - We know that Jesus Christ will take such action within this generation. Bible chronology clearly establishes that in 1914 C.E. he was given rulership over the world of mankind."
Look at the statement “WE KNOW”. As time has revealed time and time again with the Watchtower Society, they have absolutely no clue whatsoever about any “action” on Jesus part. For decade after decade the Watchtower ranted on about the certainty of this “generation” would see the “fulfillment” of all the insane Watchtower fantasies, only to back out in 1995, telling the dubs that some mysterious entity named “Jehovah’s people” had made some vague speculations about the length of the “generation”. How dumb can you get?

That's what they say when it is obvious that they have failed. In many other instances they want to create the opposite picture of their abilities.
The Watchtower Society, whose members call themselves Jehovah's Witnesses, is widely known for their many failed prophecies about the ”end” or ”Armageddon”. This totally hopeless track record has for long been a constant source of embarrassment and headache for the Watchtower leaders, something that is demonstrated in the following quote:
“Alertness or Sluggishness?
It is easy for the established churches of Christendom and other people to criticize Jehovah’s Witnesses because their publications have, at times, stated that certain things could take place on certain dates. But is not such line of action in harmony with Christ’s injunction to “keep on the watch”? (Mark 13:37)….. True, some expectations that appeared to be backed up by Bible chronology did not materialize at the anticipated time. But is it not far preferable to make some mistakes because of overeagerness to see God’s purposes accomplished than to be spiritually asleep as to the fulfilment of Bible prophecy?” The Watchtower December 1. 1984, page 18.
Up until then this was the closest the Watchtower Society had come to admit its failed prophecies. Of course they didn’t go very deep into the material. They try to excuse themselves with a pretty lame trick of pretending that there are only two extreme solutions possible. 1) Be totally quiet about it. 2) Or yell about the “end” all the time.
Let’s look closer at this particular part of the above quote:
“True, some expectations that appeared to be backed up by Bible chronology did not materialize at the anticipated time.”
It the Watchtower Society had been anywhere near being honest they should have said the following:
“True, ALL the expectations that appeared to be backed up by our own fantasy chronology, which we passed along as Bible chronology and truth, and presented as established and indisputable facts did not materialize at the anticipated time.”
It remains very dishonest to use terms like ”some expectations” to create the impression that they have only occasionally missed when they in fact never ever have been right.
One of their recent magazines, the March 22. 1993, issue of the Awake! Magazine, Brooklyn again makes an attempt to gloss over this miserable track record in an article with the title: ” Why So Many False Alarms?” The article quotes Deuteronomy 18:20-22:
“The prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. And in case you should say in your heart: ‘How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?’ when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak.” Awake! March 22. 1993, page 3-4.
Awake then gives us its latest definition of the concept ”false prophet”:
“There are some who make spectacular predictions of the world’s end to grab attention and a following, but others are sincerely convinced that their proclamations are true. They are voicing expectations based on their own interpretation of some scripture text or physical event. They do not claim that their predictions are direct revelations from Jehovah and that in this sense they are prophesying in Jehovah’s name.Hence, in such cases, when their words do not come true, they should not be viewed as false prophets such as those warned against at Deuteronomy 18:20-22. In their human fallibility, they misinterpreted matters.” Awake! March 22. 1993, page 3-4.
The definition given here is quite sensational. Why? Because with this definition NO ONE is a false prophet. Earlier only other “end time” cults were false prophets. Of course the Watchtower is different. Why? Because today they have“the evidence required, all of it.”:
“True, there have been those in times past who predicted an "end of he world", even announcing a specific date. Some have gathered groups of people with them and fled to the hills or withdrawn into their houses waiting for the end. Yet nothing happened. The "end" did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was missing? Missing was the full measure of evidence required in fulfilment of Bible prophecy. Missing from such people were God's truths and the evidence that he was using them. But what about today? Today we have the evidence required, all of it. And it is overwhelming!”
Awake! October 8. 1968, page 23.
Isn’t it really hilarious? Imagine writing anything so totally meaningless as this: "But what about today? Today we have the evidence required, all of it. And it is overwhelming!” If any of the Watchtower leaders was capable of feeling shame, this statement from 1968 would have been very embarrassing. It is difficult to find any religious organization so utterly clueless, with so many failures behind them.
Another really funny point with this new definition is that it means that the only organization on earth today that has the potential for being false prophets is the Watchtower Society. Why? Because according to themselves they are alone in using the “divine name”. And to qualify as a false prophet you have to issue such prophecies in his “name”. Since none of the other churches use the name, they are simply incapable of issuing false prophecies.
The main reason for this latest definition of a false prophecy is of course the flow of well-documented information, which exposes the Watchtower Society’s tragicomic track record of failed prophecies. There simply isn’t a chance to hide it completely anymore. So why not make a whole new definition of the whole concept. And make it so fuzzy that no one including the Watchtower Society can be termed false prophets. And when they made this new definition they also knew it would be very handy when their next false prophecy about the 1914-generation was blowing up in their face in 1995. In 1993 when this issue of Awake!, was published, the master head on page 4 in every Awake said this in the last two lines:
”Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creators promiseof a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.”
As a monument over the shameless dishonesty and falseness of the Watchtower Society this issue of Awake said on the very same page:
”They do not claim that their predictions are direct revelations from Jehovah and that in this sense they are prophesying in Jehovah’s name.”
Now, here they first claim that the ”Creator” has ”promised: ”a secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.”
Then they turn around and on the very same page say: “They do not claim that… they are prophesying in Jehovah’s name.”
Well, Who is the Creator? Isn’t it Jehovah? If you print that the Creator (Jehovah) has promised a certain thing, which is connected to a date, and this doesn’t happen, have you, or have you not, made a prophecy in Jehovah’s name?
In a footnote in the same article this statement is made:
“Jehovah’s Witnesses, in their eagerness for Jesus’ second coming, have suggested dates that turned out to be incorrect. Because of this, some have called them false prophets. Never in these instances, however, did they presume to originate predictions ‘in the name of Jehovah.’ Never did they say, ‘These are the words of Jehovah.” Awake! March 22. 1993, page 4.
Let us take a look at the claims made here. It said:
“Never in these instances, however, did they presume to originate predictions ‘in the name of Jehovah.’”
Awake! March 22. 1993, page 3-4.
Well, nothing could be further from the truth than this. It is quite clear that Brooklyn is confident that no one of their ”faithful and loyal” followers will bother to check these obviously outrageous false claims. They really count on the average Witness complete amnesia and total lack of knowledge about the Society’s history.
Let us examine the reality in the bold claims the Watchtower Society makes in this Awake!, article. Do they speak the truth, or is it all lies? Is it an attempt to cover the fact that they are indeed false prophets? Take a look at the following and judge for yourself:
Brooklyn claims:
“Jehovah’s Witnesses, in their eagerness for Jesus’ second coming, have suggested dates that turned out to be incorrect. Because of this, some have called them false prophets. Never in these instances, however, did they presume to originate predictions ‘in the name of Jehovah.’ Never did they say, ‘These are the words of Jehovah.” Awake! March 22. 1993, page 4.
They do not claim that their predictions are direct revelations from Jehovah and that in this sense they are prophesying in Jehovah’s name.
Awake! March 22. 1993, page 3-4.
Facts:
“So God’s servants know what this world’s rulers do not. They know Jehovah’s purposes and his seasons… Since Jehovah’s servants of today obey him as ruler, God’s holy spirit also reveals to them what season it is from his viewpoint.Amos 3:7 says: “The Sovereign Lord Jehovah will not do a thing unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets.”The Watchtower April 15. 1986, page 18.
The claims made in this Watchtower is totally destroying the Watchtower Society insane idea that there is a difference between being “spirit directed” and “inspired”. The above quote give us a crystal clear picture of how the Watchtower Society leaders view their status as Jehovah’s prophets. Let us number the claims made:
1. The Watchtower leaders KNOW “Jehovah’s purposes and his seasons”
2. “God’s holy spirit reveals” to the Watchtower leaders “what season it is”
3. “Jehovah will not do a thing unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants” in Brooklyn!
In other words “Jehovah” is telling them everything they write about his “purpose and his seasons”. When comparing these quotes, it is easy to see how false and dishonest the Watchtower Society is. Here we have a clear claim that they KNOW ”Jehovah’s seasons”. Why? Because Jehovah’s ”holy spirit also reveals”it to them! If Jehovah’s spirit reveals something you, how much more ”direct” can it be?
Of course when all their bold claims and predictions fail miserably they print such articles as the one in the above 1993 Awake!, trying to excuse themselves with lame explanations. But in between the embarrassing failures this is how it sounds when Brooklyn wants to convey the directly opposite idea, and bolster their authority over the rank and file:
"Spirit of Life from God Entered into Them
The announced purpose behind God’s pouring out of his spirit upon all sorts of flesh was that the recipients thereof might prophesy. The facts substantiate that the remnant of Christ’s anointed disciples have been doing that prophesying to all the nations for a witness in favor of God’s kingdom. Logically, then, they must be the ones upon whom God’s spirit has actually been poured out. That spirit is behind their worldwide preaching. Why argue about it?”
Holy Spirit, 1976, page 148.
“No obstacle put in His way by the enemies will prove to be insurmountable for Jehovah. Just as at Mount Sinai He put his word in the mouth of his chosen peoplethrough the mediator Moses and thereafter he led them under the protective shadow of his hand into the Promised Land, so he has done for the remnant of spiritual Israel. He has put his word, his message of the hour, into the mouth of the spiritual remnant for them to confess openly before all the world, for their own salvation and for that of responsive hearers.”
Holy Spirit, 1976, page 175.
In one moment they have never tried “to originate predictions ‘in the name of Jehovah.” In the next they tell us that Jehovah has “Put his word into” their “mouth”! Which is it? Well, those of us who appreciate the truth will of course see this for what it is. Those who are only interested in an emotional “truth”, a kind of label that the “Truth factory” stick on anything, including outright lies, will of course be more than satisfied with the Watchtower Society lame excuses.

The WTBTS has figured out the perfect solution to all of mankind’s problems.
They mainly use the Awake! magazine to tell us about the wonderful future that awaits us.
That magazine will have articles with headlines like:
Homelessness - will it ever end?
Unemployment - will it ever end?
Child labor - will it ever end?
War - will it ever end?
Poverty - will it ever end?
Hunger - will it ever end?
Then usually they paint the worst possible gloomy pictures of how horrible “our times” is and the sheer hopelessness of it all. Then they present the solution which will come in the form of “the kingdom.” All this is presented as “Jehovah’s Wonderful Purpose for mankind”
For some reason we are never actually given much details of how this wonderful bright future is to come about. Some times we are offered euphemisms like Jehovah will “remove” or “bring an end to” wickedness etc.
Somehow the Watchtower Society writers sense that it is no longer wise or politically correct to say it like it is as they did here:
*** w58 10/15 pp. 614-615 What Will Armageddon Mean for You? ***
As for humans upon earth, on the side of Jehovah will be all those fully dedicated to him and who are faithfully following Jesus Christ; compared with earth’s billions these are indeed few. They are the few that walk the narrow way or cramped road that leads to life. These will not share in the fighting but will merely sing God’s praises.—2 Chron. 20:20, 21; 2 Cor. 10:4, 5; Matt. 7:13, 14. On Satan’s side will be all the rest of mankind, more than 99.9 percent, even as we read: “The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” That includes all the governments of the world together with their supporters, the commercial, religious and social institutions. Even the professedly Christian organizations? Yes, because all such that are friends of the world are making themselves enemies of God.
Only some decades ago the Watchtower Society was refreshingly straightforward, yes they even seemed to enjoy and revel in describing the upcoming bloodbath in gory detail, you can almost see the writer salivating:
*** w61 12/1 pp. 725-726 United Against Nations in the Valley of Decision ***
58 Never before in all human history will so many human creatures have been slaughtered. Blood, as representing human lives poured out, will run deep and over a vast distance. Revelation 14:20 paints the appalling picture, saying: “And the wine press was trodden outside the city [God’s organization], and blood came out of the wine press as high up as the bridles of the horses, for a distance of a thousand six hundred furlongs [or, 200 miles].”
59 To a completion Jehovah’s judicial decision will be executed. The nations and their grapes of wickedness will be trampled out of existence, to leave the earth a cleansed place for the righteous to occupy and enjoy. Not all flesh will be in that symbolic wine press. Not all flesh will have its lifeblood trampled out of it. There are those who make Jehovah their refuge and their fortress. These will be kept safe and be preserved, while Jehovah by his King Jesus Christ crushes their enemies and His enemies in the wine press or “low plain of the decision.” These preserved ones are the remnant of spiritual Israelites and the “great crowd” of their dedicated companions who unite with them in calling upon the name of Jehovah for salvation. (Joel 2:32) They are the ones to whom he has prophetically said: “And you people will have to know that I am Jehovah your God, residing in Zion my holy mountain.” With breathless awe they will have looked down from their safe heights into the valley of decision and witnessed how Jehovah gains his magnificent victory by Christ over all the combined nations of Satan’s visible organization.
Much of the same obvious malicious pleasure can be detected here:
*** w55 7/15 p. 436 War from Heaven Brings Peace to Earth ***
Men can spray a field with chemicals that kill weeds but spare crops; too bad they cannot spray cities with bombs that blow the bad to bits but leave the innocent intact.
*** w55 7/15 p. 438 War from Heaven Brings Peace to Earth ***
15 Men have a saying about “dying with your boots on.” At Armageddon Jehovah God will grant their wish and let them “die with their boots on.” He will allow them to build up to peak strength and go down fighting.
*** w55 7/15 p. 438 War from Heaven Brings Peace to Earth ***
So let this old world die with its military boots on if it wishes, but let us live with our theocratic boots on, preaching the good news of peace and singing the praises of Jehovah God!
Of course some of the faithful dubs upon reading this and as true Christians no doubt enjoying it immensely they had some misgivings as to the gargantuan sheer logistical task it must be to get rid of all the dead, much the same problem although on a much lesser scale that confronted the Nazi’s during holocaust:
*** w53 12/15 p. 763 Questions from Readers ***
Questions from Readers
• Both Jeremiah 25:33 and Ezekiel 39:12 refer to those slain at Armageddon, yet one says the dead will not be buried and the other says they will. How are the two texts harmonized?—W. B., Canada.
Jeremiah 25:33 (AS) reads: “And the slain of Jehovah shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the face of the ground.” Those slain by Jehovah will not be gathered up by the survivors of Armageddon and given a formal burial or funeral accompanied by mourning and lamentation. There will be no memorial stones to mark where their remains lie and to symbolize a hope of resurrection for them. Their former existence is not held in the memory of Jehovah so that he will raise them from the dead, nor are these ungodly slain ones remembered with any respectful mourning by Jehovah’s servants that survive the battle of Armageddon. Their bones will be picked clean by the wild birds and beasts so long ill-treated by godless men.—Ezek. 39:4, 17-20; Rev. 19:17-21.
Yet the survivors of Armageddon will not let the earth lie littered with bleached bones, but will bury them to cleanse the land, as Ezekiel 39:12 states: “And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.” The Mosaic law declared unclean for seven days anyone touching a corpse, and the land would likewise be polluted by such remains. For an executed criminal to remain exposed was a defilement of the land, and the law required his burial to avoid this. (Num. 19:11; Deut. 21:23) Topheth of the Valley of Hinnom was defiled by its becoming a dumping place of garbage and dead bodies. (2 Ki. 23:10) Hence in time there must be a burial of the bones of those slain at Armageddon, but only to cleanse the land, and not to memorialize their existence or imply hope of resurrection.
In this next quote, Brooklyn addresses this fear and introduces the idea that Jehovah will actually use “highly scientific” means of disposing with the billions of carcasses:
*** kj chap. 20 p. 377 Land of Magog No More to Threaten Mankind ***
The unburied dead, “those slain by Jehovah,” will be so enormously many that even the carrion birds and scavenging wild beasts could never take care of their consumption. The burial of even what remains after these lower creatures have their fill would be stupendous. Doubtless the Almighty God will use some highly scientific means, whether including antimatter or not, to dispose of the surplus of decaying bodies in a speedy and sanitary way. This remains for the survivors of the “war of the great day” to see and witness. We remember that Noah and his seven fellow survivors of the global Deluge were not burdened with burying the human victims of that world catastrophe after they came out of the ark and renewed Jehovah’s worship on earth.
To those of the “faithful” that has permitted themselves to harbor a smidgen of human decency and compassion enough to find all this a tad distasteful, the Watchtower Society has this to say:
*** kj chap. 20 pp. 377-378 Land of Magog No More to Threaten Mankind ***
23 ‘How horrible all this!’ Should that be our reaction of mind toward this prophecy of the disastrous defeat of Gog’s dastardly attack upon the only remaining peaceful worshiper of Jehovah on earth at the end of this violent system of things? Not rightly so! No matter how terrible it may seem to people who as a community took part in gory world wars Nos. I and II, Jehovah has spoken it prophetically, and that means it will be sure to come to pass.
Even to the writers of this orgy of slaughter blood and gore, it is clear that it can be compared to the infamous holocaust of the Nazi times here in offering the only key to survival:
*** g84 8/22 p. 9 The Only Way of Survival ***
Among all the religious groups that claim to be Christian, which one freely uses God’s name, Jehovah, puts full trust in him and his promises and boldly encourages its members to be witnesses of him? (Isaiah 43:10) Without a doubt, these are the ones ‘seeking Jehovah.’ They urge others to join with them in learning the only sure way to survive the coming global holocaust.
So now you all know a bit more about “Jehovah’s Wonderful Purpose for mankind”
A plan that will make Hitler, Stalin and all other despot’s and evil rulers look like amateurs and boy scouts.
How perverted do you have to be to consider the wholesale slaughter of 99,9% of mankind a "Wonderful Purpose"?

Well, I guess it applies to all who promote myth and fantasies as real. Norm
Watching the Ted Haggard story unfold has been a trip into the bizarre world of conservative Christianity. In a letter read to his congregation Mr. Haggard let us get a glimpse of a person whose troubles hasn’t even begun. It is a man still in deep denial about who he is.
He calls himself “a deceiver and a liar” something that is of course correct but that is more or less in the “job description” of all Christians. The only thing that varies is the degree of lies and deception.
Having sex with a consenting adult is of course not wrong in itself. It only becomes wrong if you have sworn to be faithful to another. Still the poor man describes his desperate venture into his true sexuality thus:
"There is a part of my life that is so repulsive and dark that I've been warring against it all of my adult life,”
It is indeed tragic that a homosexual man has grown up in an environment where it has become necessary for him to deny himself, put on an act to the extent that he has married and had children just to play the “normal.” That he actually believes that he can continue the “war” against himself. It must be horrific to be so completely messed up.

where is the love?
Well, this guy is president in a church with 30 million members. A guy who has come out strongly against homosexuals.
If there is anyone who has been judgemental it is him and his followers. It is no wonder that people find it a bit interesting.
He has bragged about his chumminess with President Bush and claims to have
weekly contact with him etc.It can hardly be surprising that a person who has aligned himself with such prominent
homophobes will be met with some pretty tough scrutiny if he turns out to be gay himself.
http://www.tedhaggard.com/inTheNews.jsp
With the "outing" of several gay men within the ranks of a party that publicly condems homosexuality one must ask the question
if there isn't a pattern. It seems that those who are the most vocal gay bashers in that commuity is actually adressing the gay
person withing themselves in a desperate effort to control their true sexuality. Tragic indeed that US society still is so backward regarding such matters. In our last conservative government the minister of finance didn't face much problems as openly gay.
He is a brilliant politician and well respected based on his merits and actual performance in politics. We have had a gay female bishop
which was well liked and respected. This just remain a "problem" in certain backward societies because certain elements can use it to scare homophobes in order to get votes to gain power and keep it.
