  Any Buckeye's Here

  for those who don't know what a buckeye is, it is the state tree of ohio.

  it also grows in michigan, but most michiganders try to kill them off and burn them at ohio state - michigan football games when ohio state loses.

  the buckey tree produces brown fruit that look like a chestnut, except they are poisonous.

  The CO's visit

  this past week was the visit of our circuit overseer.

  i know what you are thinking so before i post some of his comments that i personally found interesting, i only went to keep peace in the family and not give rise to suspicion about my true feelings.

  so with that said, here are some things that grabbed my attention.. 1) his talk thursday nite was about being successful and how the world's view of success is far different than the organizations.

  I believe that "Ole Hard N Nasty" is no longer serving in CO work. I believe he may have left in the the late 80's early 90's....Never heard a good word about the man!!!! He was acontrol freak to the utmost!! He actually came to my wifes work(restaurant) and found out we lived in the territory that he was presently serving(we went to the hall's territory that was on the other side of the road) and told her we needed to switch halls!!! Got her pretty upset!
  Overall the CO's nowadays are alot different then they used to be, not as hardnosed about things more compassionate.

  just had our CO visit this past week. He on Tues. stressed...umm not sure can't remember......on Thurs was the big push on meeting attendanceand went over cong. numbers in our hall, all were basically down. He stressed the need for meeting attendance, and even how bros. quit jobs that didn't allow themto attend all 5 meetings. Then his "piece de Risistance' (lol) Illustration to drive point home....you guessed it how we have 5 fingers....could we afford to lose one if so which one....Boring........Sunday definitely mentioned 3 important things 1. bible Reading 2. Matt 24:45-47 FDS Pay Attention to them and the GB!!!!, yes he used terms to describe them.. "Organization", "The Society","Slave" ..so yes they still use these terms.
  I have noticed a trend tho with CO's they are not liked they used to be..(i.e Bro Hardesty(er Bro "Hard n Nasty") or Bro Woods..CO's from the 80s))

  How I Became a JW

  when i began to study with jws, i deluded myself into believing i was pursuing truth, when i was pursuing a closer relationship with my dad.

  i suppose keeping him happy by joining his new club didn't seem cool to me as a teenager, when i was meant to be rebelling from his authority.

  but having had so little to share with him emotionally, or intellectually for most of my upbringing, this seemed too good an opportunity to pass up.

  Interesting post.....I kind of feel the same way you do on this subject. I was baptized to fit in with everybody else and please Mother!! I'm still very active within the Org, but still many doubts. I guess I'm just still in to please everybody else............

  I was in 3 "Modern" Dramas(Ted in the mid 80s..Colllege???) and privelege to do 3 "Ancient" Dramas........My Question to All is ........Why after the DRAMAS are YA'LL Bum Rushing the Stage to Take My Picture!!!!!!!!!!! Never figured that out.....

  His parents lived in Logan, Ohio (btwn Lancaster and Athens). I believe Kays folks lived in western Pa somewhere. Yep, I knew Ron went to OSU!! Boy did he love Sports too!!! He was the 1st one to telll me about Lou Whittakerand Chet Lemon being Bros!!!! He also was the only CO I knew that always brought his USA Today paper out in service!!!

  I had Ron Soliday as an Instructor in Pio School in the mid 80's. One of my personal Favs. He was probably the smartest Bible wise that I ever came across!!! I heard he dropped out of CO work innthe early 90s, his parents became Ill and haven't heard much from them since. Wasn't his wife Kay somethin!!!!!!!

  Here is the All Time Most Embarassing Moment in My JW Life......

  Thursday night before Ministry School, I looked at my TMS Schedule and I had Talk 4 in the Young People Ask!!! I did not prepare and did have my slip which gave me my assignment and what I was to work on. The subject was Masturbation, being a very good speaker(known for my demonstrative gestures by the way!!) I in haste threw it together. It was in the main hall not the library. I gave a killer performance gesticulated like an Italian(or so I was told)!!!!!!!! Guess what I was working on...........yep Study point 26!!!!....Repetion For Emphasis....and Gestures!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I about DIED!! Of course I was a GOOD student and sat front and center like a good JW for my assignment..You should have heard the chuckles from the audience, not loud but I knew!!!!

  Cracks me up to this Day.....WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!
