I've always taken offense to the JW's command to wear their ID badge at all times while in the convention city, at the hotel, and when eating out. Every other convention I've ever attended (non-JW) has ALWAYS recommended to take your badge ID off when leaving the convention center. Crooks see your badge and know you're an out-of-towner, leaving you more susceptible to robbery or attack. If the WTS really cared about their slaves, they would think more about their SAFETY and not so much being a walking advertisement for their ASSembly.

Why do Jws use id badges at assemblys?
by haujobbz ini have wondered why jws wear" id badges" at assemblys and not on the preaching work or at the hall,i know of someone who was stopped by an attendant because he wasnt wearing a badge.is it something to do with showing off our religious belief to outsiders, i must be honest i use to take mine off when leaving the assemblys but i noticed many wearing theres even when going home on the bus or walking home "i knew of 1 who wore his to bed", mormons wear id cards on their preaching work so do you think jws should.maybe due to the paedophile scandal jws may have to wear id badges especially paedophiles.

What do Americans actually really know about???
by invisible inwhat do americans in general actually really know about the big outside world outside of their own culture?.
it's certainly not just me, but for years since early childhood in fact, it has been commonly accepted by many, that americans in general are the biggest ignorant fools residing almost anywhere on the planet, yet they still do their damndest to have everyone believe what a great nation they are.
is it even beyond their comprehension how foolish they look often to the rest of the world, the fact that they have so little understanding of problems on the worldwide front?.

Haven't I read this line in the Watchtower magazine? I think Invisible is on the Writing Committee!!
It has also been commonly accepted by many that the earth is flat and the moon is made of green cheese. Just because "many" people accept something does not make it true...

Why dont JW's have a youth group?
by In_between_days insomething that has been alarming to my jw family is the amount of teens ("young ones") that have bailed out of the organisation, never to return.. they use the excuse, as would most jw's that "satan is getting them - he knows young ones are vulnerable.".
if you want my opinion, young people are getting far more educated - they are becoming far more broad minded than they were say 10 or 20 years ago.
because of the slow yet sturdy slackening of the "no college" rule, many more young jw's are attending university or college than ever before, and with further education comes more knowledge, more interaction with reasonable and intelligent conversations with educated people and most importantly -use of the internet ("satans latest tool, as put by a jw i talked to recently).

The JW org as a whole doesn't really care about the youth among them. But when the GB has an average age of about 75, this is not surprising. If they even did something such as establish a "Youth Department" at HQ, they would be making a great symbolic gesture that they actually care. They could even, God forbid, appoint a few younger people to the GB. (And, BTW, guys in their 50's do NOT count as younger.) Maybe then they would start to make strides in keeping their younger members.
This year's summer convention produced the first publication geared toward young people in 13 years. Thirteen years!! And it was just a tract! And if that weren't bad enough, it was nothing more than a tract plugging various aspects of pioneering and Bethel service (guess the numbers must be down...).
Until the organization wakes up and realizes that publishing a tract once a decade does NOT show consideration for young people - only a lack thereof - they will continue to lose their potentially most energetic and productive members. Until they realize that by banning (strongly discourage = banning) university educations, they bring about a shameful brain drain in the org, the WT will continue to lose its best and brightest.
Oh, I almost forgot! There IS one thing they do for the kids - they write all the mags on a 3rd grade reading level!

JWs Assigned to Fetch Lost Sheep Here?
by HomebutHiding ini have been pondering the whys of jws who regularly, and not-so regularly post to the board.
the possibility then struck me that maybe they are assigned--have special dispensation--to associate here in order to retrieve any "misguided" or "lost" sheep and bring them back into their fold.
or are they, thenselves, on the edge, wanting the freedom we now have?

Can I ask a very honest question?
Sure!
I remember endlessly hearing "bad association spoil useful habits"....Is it still preached from the podiums like it was then?
You bet... More than ever, in fact.
Are you afaid of being found out?
Nope. Not at all. When I'm in the privacy of my own home, I do whatever I well please! That's the beauty of the internet. The censors are powerless when you sit in front of your computer screen, with the FREEDOM and the CHOICE to look at whatever information you want.
And what if you were, what would the BOE say now-a-days?
Ha! That shouldn't happen, because I don't surf this site when the elders are looking over my back, anyway... If they did find out, they wouldn't be too happy, would they?

Well, I'm a JW in good standing, and have been one for several years, and I lurk on this board, and I even throw up an occasional post. I've been following this board for well over a year, now, and before that, I was a loyal reader of H2O. And before H2O, my eyes were opened thanks to the AJWR "Free Zone" graffiti board back in the summer of 1996. Dang, I really miss that board! Anybody remember reading the "Watchtower Unplugged" over there, over 6 years ago?
Not to get off topic too much, but I wish there were a site like that online today... Something moderate that even most 'loyal' JW's wouldn't mind reading. It was a 'kinder, gentler' way of having your eyes opened, if you know what I mean.
Oh well, just my two-and-a-half cents...

If I'm not mistaken, I believe I recall reading that the level of JW's with at least a bachelor's degree is 4.7%. That's just from memory, so don't quote me on it. I DO know that the numbers were recently released in a USA Today article (within the past year), and JW's were at the bottom of the list, making them one of the most uneducated religions in the world....

Do you all remember, maybe it was just my hall, when they really pushed the sisters to have informal witnessing as a setting? (I got told-from the platform-that next time I should use that for my setting) YEAH RIGHT! Do you know how hard that is?Your topic is: "The signifgance of the bride class for modern day christians" Setting; Informal witnessing at a Bus Stop. ...PUH-LEEZE!
How true! It just goes to show how much fakery is introduced into the TMS. Very few of the talks were realistic. And why can't the Botch-tower Society come up with more reasonable talks for #3 and #4. The last couple of years, the talks have been out of the Reasoning book, and they are always over the dumbest things! I feel sorry for the girls who have to do those talks!

I always would envision the brother speaking in mid-sentence and then....DoooDOdoooo....dooodoodooo
That actually happened to me once! I was giving a Number 4 talk in the 2nd School. In our hall it was customary to wait until the 2nd school was done to start the Service Meeting. But not this time!
The dope giving the instruction talk went over, so when I was about 3 1/2 minutes into my Number Four, the song started....and my talk? Well, it always helps to be in the Front School, doesn't it?

On this day, you can pick 7 sorts of flowers, and putt them under your pilloow, and inn the night you have a dream who tel you who you gone to married.
Hmmm, this sounds a little like superstition to me, happy man. I thought JW's didn't believe in superstitions like that, unless there's been some NEW LIGHT on the matter in recent months. SOMEBODY CALL THE ELLLL-DERZZZZ !!!

Hi, Mister Biggs. Nice to meet you too. I pop in here every now and then. I want to start posting a little more regularly.... Call it a belated New Year's Resolution!
Anyway, I would love it when an elderly person would go overtime and wouldn't hear the overseer call TIME. They would just go on and on and on and on. I bet it really flustered the overseer. I think the world record is NINE MINUTES, 18 SECONDS, which I personally timed for an 80-something brother named Arthur.
GO ARTHUR!!
