New generation
by truthseeker1969 inone of my friends (non baptized) overheard his father, an elder and cobe talking with two other elders re; "generation" and he openly stated that "the society has stirred a great deal of discontent with this' and that is has "people talking".. apparently on the last co visit the co said the society at one point was inundated with questions regarding it and especially the word 'evidently' and what scriptural "evidence" there was and that the elders were told to "speak kindly" when discussing it and ask them to rely on jehovah to reveal the matter and evidence.. he spoke with this father re the "reaching out" articles and it has been noted by the society that many young men are refusing to take the 'lead' as they are not seeing "joy' in "reaching out" and that the society needs more elders drastically.. i am wondering how long it will be before the society attempts to mark brothers for refusing to accept responsibility or making it an "offence' to not reach out in order to force people to do things in the congregation and when if ever they will change the generation thing.

Unappointed men are definately treated as second class.
Based on the genuine biblical requirements for appointment as ms/elders, plenty of men would qualify (and plenty of those that are appointed would be disqualified).
Based on the WTS requirements, few men qualify.
If the WTS used the scriptural requirements, I would have been appointed long ago ... maybe it's a good thing they don't!

Yes ive read Alastair Reynolds Rev Space , can you tell he's an astro phisician (cant spell!) .I started Chasm City but got sidetracked. I really should read it as its a signed copy when he came down under last year.
Yes, with Alastair Reynolds being a former rocket scientist, it seems add a bit more authenticity to his work.
I would definately recommend you give Chasm City another go .. it's another of my favourites.

My favourite author is Alastair Reynolds. His style is huge, dark space-opera.
His first novel, "Revelation Space" is probably my all-time favourite book.I also love "The Many Coloured Land" series by Julian May, and the "Mars" series by Kim Stanley Robinson.

Another Point Against Disfellowshipping (Even the WT can't deny)
by arko_n9ne ini have been shifting some ideas around and the threat of disfellowshipping may actually help me in this instance.
if you've read my other posts, you know why it is i'm on here.
and you know that i am adamant.. but in the research of disfellowship, i've tried thinking of good, alternate arguments or points of reasoning before pressing the red button.

Did you ever "feel" the holy spirt "apon you"?

No I didn't.
I'll add that near the end, I deliberately avoided praying at the field service groups. I didn't notice any difference - if anything, I was more successful (I guess I was more relaxed in the ministry as I didn't care anymore). -

All I remember were the series of ridiculous good dad/bad dad illustrations.
The last one (where he reads the bible before going to bed) is Jeff from 'Rules of Engagement'.
