  How Many Here Have Been Shunned?

  as most of you already know, the jehovah's witnesses are covering an article in their august kingdom ministry to be discussed the weeks of 8/19 and 8/26 which details how they are to shun and avoid those who are no longer members of their organization, even immediate family members.. .

  undoubtedly this article has been written to reinforce to the rank&file jehovah's witnesses the shunning policy, so as to tighten the ranks and prevent members from having the opportunity to learn the abundant contradictions and hypocrisies found within watchtower doctrine and practice from any who may have left.. this policy also serves to divide families and attempt to shame or abuse those whom have chosen to no longer be jehovah's witnesses, for whatever reason.. that much is obvious.

  I left the WTBTS in October 2000, and separated from my JW husband in July 01. haven't been DA'd or DF'd (can't think why, i haven't exactly been keeping a low profile!).

  I have been shunned by JWs in the street, JW neighbours won't even look at me (these neighbours of mine are just like the Flanders family from the Simpsons!!)

  My JW (soon to be ex)mother-in-law saw me and my four year old in a supermarket the other week. (Soon to be ex)Mother in law saw us, turned the shopping trolley around, and walked quickly in the other direction, dragging my (soon to be ex) father in law in tow. I had to laugh, they are elderly , my father in law uses a stick, it got all caught up in the trolley and caused confusion because he hadn't got a clue what she was up to and why they were suddenly turning round!!!

  But it made my daughter cry and say "There is my nanny". She couldn't understand why her nanny wouldn't want to talk to her. Don't worry folks - I explained it to her as best I could.

  To make a child cry just to comply with the JW shunning rules is TOTALLY UNFORGIVEABLE.

  But then my (soon to be ex) mother in law isn't a nice individual anyway - fully of duty towards family, but no real feeling of love for them. The JW organisation suits her down to the ground.

  just curious as to who is single and who is not on this board.i have been with my boyfriend going on 3 years now.

  we just moved in together in feb.for the most part we get along great but he has some weird habits.he also thinks i spend too much time on this site(which i do...but heck i finally belong!!

  )so its hard to relate to him on the subject.he thinks i should just forget about it.sometimes i think i might be better off with someone who has more or less been where i have.

  Elsewhere: Trouble is that now i know what I want and what I definitely DO NOT WANT!!

  I am not going to play metaphorical nurse maid to another unaffectionate, nasty idiot!

  But I am enjoying life at the moment - my time is my own (well sort of!), and my life no longer revolves around meeting attendance and field ministry!

  It may be that Fred is unable to comprehend the seriousness of the allegations being made against the Watchtower Society.

  It could be due to a mental disorder that Fred is suffering from - an inherent defect that he will never be cured of, maybe even medication and the odd ECT treatment doesn't touch.

  Or it could be that he is so brainwashed by the WTB&TS that if they started telling him that the sky is now brown - he would believe it. You wouldn't be able to persuade him otherwise.

  Bill:

  Does the management of the Ramada hotel have written confirmation of the booking, can they confirm that it was Jehovah's Witness elders who booked the room?

  If so it might be worth passing to the Governing Body to complain about their behaviour? Or better still get the Ramada Hotel to complain.

  Causing more problems within the organisation will help i think - divide and conquer and all that!

  I married a JW at age 18, we separated 6 years later (2001), divorce proceedings are now being sorted!!

  Although technically I am not yet divorced, I am legally separated, so I feel free and 100 times less stressed than I used too - and this is despite the fact that I am now a single mum with a 4 year old and full-time job!!! Amazing huh!

  So anyone out there interested? You must be caring, intelligent, have a sense of humour, love children, and be willing to live on the south coast of the UK!

  Tell me what you did on the doors?

  me and my pioneer partner used to play a game while going door to door (we were obviously bored).

  in our rural territory, we had a lot of time between doors to make things up, so various games evolved.

  just about the naughtiest was to give your partner a word which they had to use at all costs in their presentation.. this started out as 'kingdom' and 'jesus' but soon became 'tractor', 'dog' and then even 'honda 250' and so on.

  If it was obvious that no-one was in, we used to stand at the door for ages, talking about anything but the ministry.

  I actually watched some witnesses do the same thing a couple of weeks go in my road!! How I laughed!!!

  I used to HATE anyone asking any questions - I was ok if they just took the magazines, but to EXPLAIN anything was just too much!!

  The ironic thing is that NOW I think I have a far better knowledge of the religion and could "hypothetically" put myself in "dub mode" and give the "approved" response to a householder.

  Although my CONSCIENCE wouldn't let me do it now.

  It is a simple mail distribution

  - an individual can send either one envelope, ten envelopes or hundreds - whatever they can do in their circumstances. (remember the widows mite everyone??)

  - or look up addresses in your local area(WHEREVER that is) and email them to me to pass on to individuals who are able to post.
