I have found that the witnesses will not get in contact with you after you stop attending meetings. Most of them purely out of fear of reprisals, even though individuals may be quite decent, they are frightened. Although quite a few of them are just downright nasty, and use the religion to provide themselves with a bit of power of people!

Dealing with Shunners

it was kind of fun yesterday when i was in line at the local coffee house.

a "sister" came up and stood in line right next to me.

now, my ex is df'd and i am probably "bad association", but technically they should not shun me because i never got dunked.

I get tired of the JWs piously ignoring me.

I am not DA or Df, but stopped attending meetings over a year ago. At that point a JW couple (wife is a nursing assistant - you'll see the point of that later on!) I got on really well with refused to see me in my house because I no longer attended meetings. I hadn't heard from them since.

Well last week, my little girl was in hospital. The sister casually strolled on to the ward and asked how my daughter was. The conversation went, EXACTLY, like this:

Sister: I heard * was in Hospital. How is she?
Me: You deigned to come and see me then?
Sister: How is *?
Me: You deigned to come and see me then? Even though you wouldn't see me in my own house?
Sister: We did explain to you why we couldn't see you.
Me: Goodbye.

At which point the sister, totally wrongfooted, didn't know what to do, just turned and went.

I REALLY enjoyed that conversation. I was the one in control. I was not going to be taken for a fool, and act as if I was grateful that she had actually condescended to talk to me!

This shunning thing can work both ways.

Dear Mr Jensen,

Thank you for your research into the blood doctrine that the Watchtower teaches.

My daughter has heart-lung problems, and because of this i started researching the doctrine. i found so many inconsistencies that i could not in all conscience stick to the Society's policy and refuse blood for my daughter.

My stand on this has caused incredible problems. My husband still believes in the Society, and sees nothing wrong in their stand on blood. He still believes they have never changed their minds about what is and isn't "acceptable" regarding fractions and components. Our marriage has now finished.

The way I see it is this: If the WT society was God's organisation on the earth, then they would get the information right the FIRST time. There would be no need for changes in policy, changes in direction, or any need for NEW LIGHT. The fact that they are continually changing policy is evidence enough for me that they are NOT Gods organisation on the earth.

Therefore they have no RIGHT to dictate and impose their own personal beliefs on others in such serious matters. This really does affect peoples LIVES.

Thank you for taking this issue up with the Society. I sincerely hope you do not suffer adversely because of your name appearing on the letters.

Please be reassured that there are thousands and thousands of people across the world, all ex-JWs, who feel the same as you do. You are not alone.

Hawkaw: You say you are in touch with Jensen??

If so, is there any way you could get him to read this thread? If he is in for a tough time with his local elders AND the GB, then it may be good for him to know he is not alone in thinking the way he does.

Personally, I believe that all blood fractions and components should be used to save a persons life. Life is special, sacred, and all are responsible for doing our best to treasure it.

as indicated by an article on page 56 of u.s. news & world report of january 14, 1980, if you assume that 10 is the age at which an event creates a lasting impression on a persons memory, then there are today more than 13 million americans who have a recollection of world war i. and if the wicked system of this world survived until the turn of the century, which is highly improbable in view of world trends and the fulfillment of bible prophecy, there would still be survivors of the world war i generation.

however, the fact that their number is dwindling is one more indication that the conclusion of the system of things is moving fast toward its end.. the above is taken from a 1980 watchtower which said it would be highly improbable that we would see the turn of the century.. is it just me or are we all still here in 2002!!!!

Global Stop on all Kingdom Hall Building Work!

i have heard today from 2 different sources that the wts has announced a global stop on all building work.

kingdom halls already being built are having the work on them stopped.. has anybody else heard this?

if it is true, what could be the reason.

I have heard that they proposed move of the UK headquarters to Milton Keynes has been stopped.

Not heard anything about Kingdom Halls though.
