Please help me figure out my dreams
by Socrateswannabe inhi everyone, this may be the stupidest post ever.
i am stumped for an answer and would love to hear your opinions, though.
every week or two for the last couple of years, i have a dream--or at least that's what i'm calling it--that consists of me waking up or thinking that i've waked up, and seeing the ceiling of my darkened bedroom filled with algebraic equations.

@ Xanthippe, interesting observation and thank you. However I don't believe that I am sleep deprived, meaning I get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. And I don't believe I have sleep apnea, so I'm assuming that those hours are good sleep. -

Thank you everyone. I appreciate all of the suggestions. Is there anyone besides me that has had this sort of experience? -

Hi everyone, this may be the stupidest post ever. It looks like something from Albert Einstein's chalkboard, except that the figures are swirling around the room and they are always in bright, neon green. It seems to last for a minute or two after I "wake up", and then it fades to black. I was for the most part a complete dolt in public school and at university I took only rudimentary math courses, so it's not like I'm dreaming about something that I am familiar with.
Thirty years ago when I was a true believer, my naive self would have attributed this to an apparition caused by demons. At least I've learned that's not a possibility. But I do wonder where this comes from. Do our brains have the ability to imprint things that we've seen but have no understanding of, and involuntarily recall them in this way?
If you think I'm crazy I won't deny that as a possibility, so don't hold back!

"Lets imitate faithful Lot of old...."
by stuckinarut2 ini know we have all discussed at length the account / story of lot.... another thought occurred to me today...lets analyse his real personality,.
in the very beginning of the account, lot is shown to be a selfish man...one that chose the better land and area..... then he was opportunistic and materialistic and kept living in a nice city, even though he was supposedly shocked by the immorality and lawlessness..... then we see him to be cowardly when he decided to send out his daughters to be pack raped.. later we learn he was heartless as he allowed his wife to turn around and look, and didnt protect her from doing so.. then we know he was lacking in self control and allowed himself to get drunk...twice.. then we know he was dismissive and unrestrained and a general sicko when he had sex with his daughters...twice in a row!.
oh, but no...lets all praise him for being a righteous man.????!!!.

Peter called Lot a righteous man despite this criminal and obscene behavior. That, along with the ridiculous flood story, were two major factors that led me to understand, as freemindfade just said, the bible is a crock. -

Even if everything about the "truth" was all true...........
by pontoon ini will say that one of the most distasteful teachings for me is the idea of praising, thanking, worshiping, god every day for all eternity.
what kind of ego needs that?
like if i ever saved a person's life i would say buy me a bottle of scotch and we'll call it even.

This is so true, Pontoon. If he were real, god would be a megalomanic. -

A Question for Underground Apostates, How Many Are There?
by Village Idiot inwhen i first came to this forum i was of the belief that those of us who were still in due to family reasons were few in numbers perhaps one in a thousand in the jws.
soon i came to the realization that there were many more.
we have dozens of posters here who are mentally out but still in.

1. Still in for family but mentally out
2. No one in my congregation is overtly challenging JW beliefs, but many are zombies and seem to be going through the motions. That could be for any number of reasons and not necessarily because they've learned TTAT.
3. I have heard of a few people that I knew when I was younger who have joined other religions and I know of one who even started his own church. But I know of no one in my current congregation who seems so inclined.

The "preaching work" is just laughable!
by cookiemaster inthe "preaching work" they're so eager to brag about is just laughable.
they say their number is an indication of god's blessing.

They've gotten expert at beating their chests over the little progress they do make though! -

Welcome! I too am stuck with this religion for many of the same reasons as you. It's liberating to know TTAT but it would be better to be out. Sometimes that's just not an option. I wish you the best. -
