Occupy Watchtower
by OnTheWayOut ini stole the idea from a fb friend.
just like occupy wallstreet (and the spread to various cities), imagine people without a single voice picketing wt at brooklyn and having warming barrels loaded with burning watchtower literature.
if you did, what would your sign say?

It would make the watchtower and the bethelites feel like it was undeniable proof that they had God's blessing. Plus it's too cold.

Is this question just to test our imagination? How could anybody really know the answer to that? I think only the arrogant would provide an answer with confidence.

New Field Service Policy - jw's assigned to neighborhoods
by skeeter1 ini am looking for confirmation on the following:.
jws are now being individually assigned to smaller territories, and they are told to consistently work that same territory over & over again.
the reason is that the watchtower wants the jws to build relationships with the people in that area.

I think the average householder would immeadately think, "Nutcase!". That is how they would appear to me.

I cant say what you should do but I can tell you how I handled my situation. I am divorced with shared custody of my 7 yr old daughter, and I am DF. My ex side of family are JW's. So my daughter lives in 2 households. I had to get into the Xmas thing slowly. If I went all out my daughter would feel like she is being "bad" and not enjoy it. My first year was wrapped gifts. Second year was xmas lights and wrapped gifts. She thought the lights were pretty. Third year was lights, gifts, and a xmas tree. I couldnt go for the tree right away because her grandma was teaching her Jehovah hates Xmas trees. But I reasoned with her that it is a tree. It is not lying, stealing or anything bad. And Jehovah made it. Now my 7 yr old daughter just thinks of their views as their beliefs and thats it. Hope that helps.

Why don't JWs do much in the way of charity work?
by ilikecheese inso i argue with the boyfriend a lot about the fact that i think charitable work is every bit as important as preaching when it comes to serving god.
every church i've ever gone to has some sort of community outreach, if not several outreaches, that have little or nothing to do with preaching.
and i made the point that if these people know you're affiliated with a church, they'll think a little more kindly about christians, too, which would help in the whole witnessing arena.

What is the actual PRODUCT being sold by Jehovah's Witnesses??
by Terry inmadison avenue became famous for selling the sizzle rather than the steak.. the point of advertising was to create an appetite for a product.. sometimes, in order to create desire for the product, advertising consisted of imposing an embedded fear that could only.
be resolved by purchasing the solution: the product.. .
four hundred and twelve billion dollars annually is spent on advertsing in the u.s. ($412 billion).

Terry... you could not make it as a good JW. You are way too rational.

It is important to keep control of the masses. That is why they have so much meetings and field service activities. And you cant have the publishers rubbing elbows with "worldly people", that would be terrible because they might find a freind who is not a JW or they might stop looking down on non-JW's once they see that many others have fine works too. Plus the borg wants ALL of your resources. think of all that you have to offer, the borg wants that too. It is clearly about....... C O N T R O L!

Sounds like an indirect admission that the preaching work had been ineffective, even right where JW HQ is located.
