did it bug you as a witness that jesus only had to go from door to door for 3.5 years, and he was done; while he demanded that you do it for your whole life without preparing for the morrow?
i just remember a few years back reflecting on the daunting prospect of doing it my whole life if the end didn't come - "sooner rather than later".
what are your thoughts?.
if the apostles were here today do you think you would see them going door to door? or would thy veiw it like it was a waste of time and not care that it wa a ™ ?

i just cant see the apostles and first century christians going from door to door. they taught in the market place and in the synagogues. also they would have gone house to house as thats where the first century christians had where meetings. "do not forsake the gathering". does that scripture say only in one building or place. they would have met from house to house both teaching and declarig the good news.
i imagine the apostles inviting interested ones along to the local congregations home for further discussions.

i asked that once and the reply i got was "how many came into the Ark?"
this thread is dedicated to the judgemental fat and not so jolly elders and elderettes (non judgemental loving brethren, please disregard!)..
in my county, some of our appointed brothers and sisters are suffering from obesity, eating disorders and heavy drinkings.
what is the best way to approach brothers in charge, who are morbidly overweight, don't care about their physical appearance?
its a strange one , i have often wondered how usually the young ones get to the age of partying and drinking too much and the counsel these get from family and the elders is quite direct. now usually the young uns grow out of this phase and settle down.
what happens to the fatties then? i know i know it CAN be medical reasons, but not everyone has medical reasons to eat 3-4 deserts! or pile up their plate at the Carvey.
and that raises the other issue,
how do you know ifsomeone is a glutton? fat or thin ? it can be both
my name is michelle and from the age of 3 i was brought up one of jw.
my parents became witnesses whilst in germany when my father was stationed there with the british army.
we then came back to england where i lived in darwen, lancashire, and attended darwen, bolton and blackburn congregations over the next 18 years.
Hi Michelle
welcome
I dont think i know you or your family, but i know the area you are from quite well. we would most likely have been different circuits.
i'm hoping to produce a new new world translation of the bible and if you have any ideas i would appreciate your contributions.
the format is thus:-.
1. the book, chapter and verse.. 2. the king james version (authorised version) of the above in full.
The 'José Class' ! haha
i am feeling rather lazy.
has anyone got the answers for the oral review for this week?
and although i love the personal comments, i do not think my family would enjoy them, so does anyone have the clean cut answers?.
it is called the TMS Review.
for a few years now, im guessing at 5yrs or so
a loving spirit in the congregation.
be zealous in the ministry.
9. how does our attitude toward the field ministry.
Jesus said he without sin cast the first stone. when everyone had dissapeared he told the girl her sins had been forgiven and to Practice sin no more. she had been caught in the act and the law stated death penalty. no mention of the girl showing repentance. all done in a public place out in the open.
but love prevailed. Jesus did not condemn the girl.
like that would happen today
somewhat of a turning point occurred for me in 1966 when life everlasting in freedom of the sons of god book was released at the assemblies that year.
this you may know was the book that calculated 1975 would end 6000 years of humanity on earth possibly leaving the "thousand years" of revelation to complete the 7000-year "creative day.
" jehovah's witnesses jumped on this implication as "new light" with enormous enthusiasm.
oh dear freddy! what were you growing in the WT garden.
to think something like this while pondering on scripture is one thing but to put this down in a book which is distributed in the millions and then 'studied' as a text book is well, crazy.
i suppose freddy had to print this stuff if he was being passed the info by an angel.
