so if I got treasures in heaven, thats where my heart will be also..cool.. but I cant 'Live' in heaven?
"The Home Is Where The Heart Is" must not be true.
i often heard the phrase "store up treasures in heaven" but never really knew what it meant.. if we're all going to be living on paradise earth, what good is it storing up treasures in heaven if we never get to see them?.
or am i missing something here?.
it would make better sense if we were going to heaven after we finish our life here..

when you were a jw did you get together with family or other jw's on christmas day?
most people have off so it would be convenient.
in my mind, if you got together with family or jw's shared a meal or drinks, perhaps watched a movie or played games you did celebrate the day.
field service usually. dragged out of bed on Christmas morning to go door to door every bastarding year
i was walking from my classe and i saw some old jw's.
we talked for a little bit about small things.
the discussion then took a more serious turn on world conditions and the unstable global market.
Yep, I thought I had it all figured out.

Bobcat thank you very much I'll give that another read through tomorrow.
the footnote just does not read right to me, was it Jehoiakim's 3rd year on the throne (8yrs remaining) OR was it his 3rd year as the Jeremiah book says "apparently" as vassal King in service to Nebuchadnezzar?
basically are the WT correct in stating that it was the 3rd year of Jehoiakim's vassalage to King Neb at Dan 1:1,2? If the WT/JW only accept 2 exiles and not the 3 I dont think they can be correct.....
gotta go to bed!
it is quite a lenghthy article.
there are similarities in how his friends tell him 'there is no where else to go' and in the 'disconenction' v df & da .
lots more.
Jason Berghe gets a mention in the article. The story goes Paul Haggis wanted him to read a script for a part and Jason Berghe said he should know he is x-scientology and 'they' wouldn't like him being involved.. Paul Haggis said that no one tells him who can or cant be in his film. It goes on to mention about the Youtube video that Jason Berghe put out and he said to Paul Haggis that he recorded it just after getting out and he was very raw, "I'm much calmer now".
I will watch his video, I dont think I know who he is or what he has been in... maybe I will recognise him.
I thought the same as I read through his experience how similar the methods are but different labels to keep people in line. The Sea Org and Cadets sounds like a great place to spend the best years of your youth.
Antony Kendall brother? pure guess?

THE RISE OF BABYLON
17 In 625 B.C.E., the Babylonians and Egyptians fought a decisive battle at Carchemish, near the Euphrates River some 370 miles [600 km] north of Jerusalem. King Nebuchadnezzar vanquished Pharaoh Necho’s forces, ending Egyptian power in the region. (Jer. 46:2) Nebuchadnezzar now dominated Judah, and Jehoiakim was forced to be his servant. After three years of vassalage, however, Jehoiakim rebelled. (2 Ki. 24:1, 2) In response, Nebuchadnezzar and his army marched into Judah in 618 B.C.E. and surrounded Jerusalem. Try to picture how turbulent a time that was, even for God’s prophet Jeremiah. Jehoiakim apparently met his end during the siege. His son Jehoiachin surrendered to the Babylonians after occupying Judah’s throne for just three months. Nebuchadnezzar stripped Jerusalem of its riches and took into exile Jehoiachin, the families of the king and of the nobles of Judah, the nation’s mighty men, and its craftsmen. Among the exiles were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.—2 Ki. 24:10-16; Dan. 1:1-7.
*** jr chap. 2 p. 24 Serving in “the Final Part of the Days” *** Daniel 1:1, 2 says that Jehoiakim was given into Nebuchadnezzar’s hand in Jehoiakim’s third year, apparently of his vassalage. This may mean that the king died during the siege, which ultimately succeeded. There is no Biblical confirmation of Josephus’ report that Nebuchadnezzar killed Jehoiakim and had his body thrown outside Jerusalem’s walls without a burial.—Jer. 22:18, 19; 36:30.

thank you for the replies, I did read them on the day posted, but have been away.
King Nevawaza was quite a character, the missing link.
not really good at introductions.
i am an active jw who has my doubts about certain things like the bible as a whole but im slowly but surely wading through them.
just of curiousity: what on earth has happened to this board?
I'd like to reiterate that my statement wasn't attacking, belittling, or denouncing the rationality/the arguments presented therein. I was simply trying to present a contrast between what I expected (JW-related discussions/debates) vs. what I saw (meticulous arguments surrounding the definitions of words like creationist, atheist, etc.) and a plethora of related subjects. I'm sorry if it came across that way.
I can't imagine how I can offer my opinions, perceptions, or arguments if a description like this is perceived as an attack or an insult?
