I don't know how far into the last days we are, perhaps not as much as JWs say but I think things are getting worse and that it will come when you don't expect it but I don't know if I should worry as much as I used to about it.

Do you think that we are in the last days?
by stuckinamovement indo you think that we are in the last days?
i really don't think we are in the last days.
i came to the conclusion that 1914 is false and is no more than another year in man's history, so hence we are not living in the last days prophesied by jesus.

The only thing I can say that I liked about giving my first talk at age 6 with my mom is the subject: "Silencing A Terrifying Storm" about Jesus saving the disciples on that boat when there was a bad storm.
I feel bad for this little girl, she looked really nervous, you can tell by watching her squirm in her seat. The mom looks like she forced her to join the TMS too, poor thing =( I always hated how I couldn't write my own talks, I had to "stick to the script" and it was always stupid and stuff I wouln't normally talk about, like explaining evolution to a skeptical teacher at age 7! *shakes head*

Tons and tons of literature
by pontoon inhow does the borg count placements, what is reported and tabulated by the congregations or by how much goes out the doors of their printing facilities?
out of all the lit printed, how much of it gets read?
how much lit gets stacked away gathering dust, thrown away and discarded each month?

I had a whole box-full of literature that I just put in the shed to let it rot (I don't agree with JW beliefs anymore but I can't seem to get rid of the books and things since I spent 26 years of my life a JW), and let me tell you, it was heavy! I was getting bad with meeting attendance (I was fading but didn't know it at the time) and I don't know why but every time I went to the meetings they'd give me huge stacks of magazines I'd missed and then my family up north mailed me the same ones so now I have this giant collection and don't know what to do with it other than let it get all rotted in the shed. LOL. If we had recycling here I'd probably recycle that stuff, I feel bad adding to all those landfills. If I had pets I'd probably shred the magazines and use them as kitty litter LOL.

Overheard at Airport
by KingDavidwasframed inwhile in line at the tsa pat down line i overheard 2 women talking about how they couldn't (or shouldn't) eat pepperoni pizza from a certain national chain because they heard from a cousin of a friend in a neighboring congregation (i never got the whole chain of source info) that the meat ingredients listed "animal by-products" and how everyone knows that means blood.. .
well i couldn't help myself, so i leaned over the velvet rope separating us and i excused myself for eavesdropping and asked "are you 2 young ladies jehovah's witnesses?".
to which they blushed, giggled a little and replied "yes".

Were Jehovah's Witnesses Correct In ANYTHING They Taught?
by minimus inor are they as correct as any other false religion?.

I think the only thing I really still believe in is that we're in the last days, but I don't know if we're in the last days as much as they think we are, certain things haven't happened yet, which is why I don't think Jesus is here "invisably" since 1914. A bunch of other things have to happen first. Otherwise, I only agree with mainstream Christians, the heck with JW doctrines. =/
Oh and perhaps the no buring hell too, but I won't know about that til I die...where I will hopefully go to heaven or maybe paradise...but I will be able to ask God if there's a hell or not.

JW prayers (from the platform, and sometimes even at meals) are basically another chance to give a mini-public talk. Anyone notice that sometimes the ones that go on and on are the ones that seem like they're trying to teach Jehovah what we just learned?? I wish I could remember some instances but alas, my brain would explode.
My grandmother told me Fred Franz (she loves to go on and on about him, and "don't you say anything bad about him, missy because he's in heaven right now and can hear you!") said some hour-long prayer at a convention in the 60s or something. I definitely remember some 10 minute long prayers, maybe even longer. I remember my legs would start hurting as a kid and I'd kind of rock back and forth and squint my eyes to watch people and see if their eyes were still closed and I'd get slapped by my mom (what were HER eyes doing open?) for not paying attention.
By comparision, at our new church a LADY prays and the prayers are pretty and I enjoy listening to them, plus they only seem to be about a minute long, if that.

todays WT study...the picture...?
by stillin ini wish i could scan it and get your thoughts.
it was a picture of a happy group of witnesses during a meeting for field service.
there was a. comment from a local high-horse-rider about a brother in the front row in the picture being disobedient.

It's Korah who ran ahead and it's in the Bible. I'm not saying I agree with the dubs, just correcting
For those of you who haven't seen the picture, I'll post it. I seriously see nothing wrong with any of the brothers in the front row...?

It depended...and this sounds weird but there's a really noticible difference between congregations with mostly black (they sing well in my experience) and white people (they sing like crap in my experience.) The last few congs I was in had pretty bad singing, and I noticed it doesn't seem to matter whether I was way up north or way down here but if the cong lacks black people, the singing sucks, no clue why. My last congregation was almost completely Hispanic people and the singing was very soft and almost monotone, the congregation before had a very diverse mix of people (Nigerians, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, white, etc.) so some people sang really well while others sang crappily. Probably the worst was the same cong. that shares a hall with my mom because there had been some very strange older people that would sing the complete wrong words or the right words but the wrong tune (how in the world they did that with the music playing the correct tune is beyond me) and so on.
When I was really in I loved to sing the songs fairly loudly, espescially at conventions or if I was with someone else who sang loud. I'd get weird looks if I tried to harmonize with people though =(
As a side note, I really like my church's music, there's a woman who leads the group in song and who plays acoustic guitar and her husband (I'm guessing) plays the bongo drums. Even the big screen that shows the lyrics has pretty graphics, the background they used today looked like it was snowing!

I feel Bilious, now, help
by Judicial Committee inme and my wife took a nice pumpkin pie and some brand new pajamas to my dear mother who stays at my sisters house, she is ninety one (91) mind you, ok it was her birthday but there was no candles or a birthday card and she did need some new pajamas.
ok, two weeks later, my brother in-law comes to our house and practically forces his way into the house, and proceeds to tell my wife who has never been a jehovahs witness ever but does know their rules because i explained them to her, that he does not want no more holiday food in his house of any kind, (of note) his wife who is a witness ate some of the home made pumpkin pie and if truth be known my brother in-law did too.
anyway i am trying to make some sort of sense of this, he comes to our house laying down the law of jehovahs witnesses and insulted me and my wife all over a simple homemade delicious pumpkin pie which is my moms favorite, two weeks after the fact.

New CO talk: Be loyal to Org. even if you get weird instructions or can prove them wrong doctrinally!
by sir82 intheme was something about "loyalty to jehovah's visible organization".. i have neither the time nor inclination to summarize the whole thing, but a few points stood out:.
even if it causes you personal hardship.
example: joshua & caleb returned from spy trip to promised land with good report, but were "outvoted" by the other 10 spies.

Hope it's okay to bump this even though it's old, I was "out" for a little while so I don't think I ever heard this talk. Freaky!!
