Memorial Invites from Door to Door?
by NeonMadman inis this the first year that the jws have been out aggressively handing out memorial invitations from door to door?
i've been out for about 12 years now, but as i recall, congregations used to receive a relatively limited number of memorial invitations, and they were pretty much reserved for bible studies, good rvs, inactive persons, and others who had some sort of connection to the organization.
they were not just randomly handed out from house to house - that was what the "special talk" invitations were for.. it occurs to me that this might be an attempt by the wts to pump up the memorial attendance so as to maintain the illusion of continued growth.

I haven't recieved an invitation yet...actually no JWs have come by in weeks. I think they think I've moved away and someone else lives here now. Or something. I have no clue. It could be the giant cross on my door though

conscious of my spiritual need, what next?
by stillhurts inso once you leave, what next?
have you found anything from a spiritual standpoint that brings you happiness and satisfaction?.
have you been so scarred by the teaching that "all religions are wrong", that you can't see the truth anywhere?.

The thing I did when I left was first I researched about the JWs and found out they were lying about practically everything. Then I just kind of took some time off to myself mentally and tried to relax and not jump into anything. It took me several months to feel ready to do anything really. I started slowly reading the Bible, both NWT to see the lies and other translations to see the real truth, espescially about Jesus. It took me several months to feel ready to visit a church and I am of the opinion that you do not *have* to go to church even if you believe. I had decided I was going to do my own thing by myself and took things slowly. After awhile I personally realized I wanted to be a Christian as I've always believed in God. I read about the different denominations and though I now go to a Baptist church, I consider myself non-denominational and will go to any church that shares my beliefs about Christ. (I do not, by the way, believe the Mormons (latter day saints) share my Christian beliefs, but that is up to you to decide, as you read the Bible. :) ).
Above all, no one can force you to do anything so don't listen to anyone that tells you there's no god or all religion sucks because it's for you to decide in your heart on your own with no one telling you what to believe/not believe (though personally I do believe in God).
What helped me the most was prayer and Bible-reading/research. I tried so many translations and I think most of them are good for different reasons. I like the English Standard Version best though :)
God bless you in your search :)

2013 District Convention Program: Gods Word is Truth!
by bats in the belfry in.
unlike god's word, that jws believe to be absolute truth, any one of their directives given at the 2013 district convention could be subject to misinterpretation.. .

OMG how many times does it say TRUTH???? If you have to say it that many times then how can it really be TRUTH? Um, let's see, because if it were, you wouldn't have to try to prove it by saying it's the TRUTH so many frickin' times!!! GOD they are such a CULT!!!!

Things we missed out on :(
by lilbluekitty inanyone else get really mad sometimes about the fact that we missed out on proms, dances, sports games, being in sports, being in band, being in clubs, or going to college, or even getting good grades since armageddon was always "right around the corner"?
even if i went to college this year (at age 28), i'd be 10 years behind everyone my age!
i'm still going to go back but i feel so upset sometimes how far behind my peers i am in just about everything, including in the working world, where i am an entry-level employee with only a high school diploma (thankfully i didn't quit school to pioneer!!

It just makes me sick sometimes how much of my life was taken from me, ya know? I am counting my blessings now but feel angered how far behind my life seems sometimes due to that damned cult. :(
I posted this on Facebook but deleted it because I forgot it was on my personal account...would rather post it here. Sorry for the weird formatting.

What is the best way to celebrate ?
by Phizzy inwhat is the best way for an inactive/ fader like me to celebrate the anniversary of my walking away from all things jw ?.
as my last meeting was the memorial several years ago, it always falls around this time of year.. my first instinct is,........ wait for it............. you've guessed it............... lots of beer !.
but what i was looking for was something that would send a message to jw's, especially family that are in, without them having a way to dismiss it as me being provocative or whatever.. any ideas ????

I'm thinking of doing a JW book burning and playing Led Zeppelin or some other music JWs hate. My "anniversary" isn't til July though.
Hey, does anyone have any fun ways of destroying those books besides just burning them? I let my cat destroy Watchtowers for me 2 years ago.
