There did seem to be fewer people getting baptized last time I went to an assembly...(dang...that was probably a year ago by now, as a sidenote, hooray!)

What would WTS do if a KH with a loan didnt pay them back ?
by mP inwhat if the brothers and sisters at a cong ran into bad luck and couldnt afford to pay for a while.
what happens ?.
yes i know about the menlo park thing in california, but this is a slightly different case..

Maybe they'd disfellowship everyone involved...

I think the WTS is going to get crazier over time: more controlling, more restrictive, more insane, with crazier ideas and "commandments." I think at first people will stay in (esp. born-ins who've never known the outside) but eventually the whole thing will start to slowly, and then more and more quickly fall apart and probably splinter some more, i.e. smaller, even wackier groups.
OR...it may get bigger and stay exactly the same. Only time will tell.

Common JW phrases that aren't in the Bible
by biometrics ini'm interested to know common phrases jehovah's witnesses use, but don't actually apear in the bible (even the nwt).
especially phrases most jw's would assume are in the bible.
e.g.. "paradise earth".

Anything with the word "class" like John class, Jonadab class, faithful and discreet slave class, etc. I never understood what the hell that all that was growing up.
Technically "this system" because most Bibles say "present age"
The "new order"
return visits
going door to door (only once in the Bible, Jesus didn't go door to door, he went from town to town and synagoge to synagoge.)
field service
circuit overseer (and any other type of overseer)
render sacred service (only in NWT I believe)

They don't think you can truly be happy "outside"
by lilbluekitty ini was on the phone with my mom last night (she's an uber-dub with a don't ask, don't tell type policy where we basically just don't discuss the fact that i celebrate holidays and go to church regularly etc.
) and she said she was talking to one of my old friends from the hall there.
the friend asked my mom how i've been and my mom said she made a face and kind of went "ehhh..." and talked about my lack of meeting attendance (she doesn't know it's way more than that) and my friend shook her head and said, "aw, that's too bad, but i've been in ruts like that before" as though i'm just depressed and don't feel like going lately.

I don't know how to quote on here but MrsJones, my mother does the same thing about my "walking corpse" husband. She already brainwashed me (when I was still a dub) to leave him once, then I got my head on straight and he thankfully allowed me to come back and I won't listen to her anymore about the things she says about him. Every time I'm sick she tells me he's not taking care of me properly, she thinks it's all his fault we're poor (though she isn't rich herself and I try not to seek riches) and so on. I keep telling her it's wrong to talk about him behind his back, and really to talk about my husband that way at all but I guess it's a JW thing. I'm glad I married that "worldly" guy, he was one of the things that helped me out of the JWs. :)

If you've left JWs for Christ - will the end still come?
by flamegrilled insomething i don't see supported much on jwn is the notion that the end of this system is indeed coming, even if later than wts has predicted over the years.. now for those that have left and become complete non-believers (in the bible) that is understandable.
you guys are welcome to comment of course, but i'm far more interested in some feedback from the people who have left jws and pursued a christian course.
are you still convinced that there will be a war of armaggedon or do you now interpret the scriptures a different way?.

tornapart, I agree with what you said.
I do still believe Armageddon is coming, but I believe Jesus is coming literally, that you can see him like the Bible says. I don't believe anyone can know the date except God and that anyone who predicts a date is a false prophet. I don't know about the whole thing JWs believe about the UN being the eighth king and the dual world powers of the US/Britian...I've never heard another religion say that. I have heard some Christians speculating that it could be China or North Korea, but who knows. I try not to focus on that. If I truly am saved by Jesus' blood he shed on the cross, then what do I have to worry about, except to keep myself from deliberate sin and from rejecting God or Jesus. I think everyone overthinks THE END...and if you're a true Christian, it won't be the end.
Oh, and I do sometimes find myself watching for "Peace and security" but I know from reading the Bible that certain things have to happen first, JWs forget that and flip out if anyone comes even close to saying that. JWs live in fear because they have something to fear, true Christians don't live in that fear because they know they will be saved, because otherwise we'd have no faith in Christ's sacrifice.

What annoyed me is I said to my mom, "Well you could have told her I'm doing just fine and I'm happy and busy and enjoying life" and she cut me off and said, "Oh but you're not going to any meetings, so I told her the truth, that you're just not doing well."
Sometimes it sucks to be a fader, I wish I could just explain how much happier and free I finally am after so many years of depression in that cult.

I can't remember the 'Most Important Date of My Life!' Can you?
by Diest ini honestly cant remember the exact date when i was baptized.
it does not bother me one bit.
i didnt have it stamped in that shitty reasoning book/babel that i got at the time, so i guess the only place i could find it would be my cards, which are far away..

I unfortunately can...Sept. 14, 2003. I was 18 (so OLD! people used to say, what's holding you back?? My sister was NINE and 2 years younger than me so I always had that hanging over my head...)
I managed to convince the elders to let me get baptized at one of their houses in their outdoor pool because I was too nervous to do it in front of all those people. I was a cutter then and it was hard hiding all the slash-marks on my arms while wearing a bathing suit but they managed not to show up in the photo, maybe because my mom stood fairly far away. It was NOT a happy day for me at all, I just wanted to die then. Otherwise I would have gotten dunked in Natick MA like someone else said, which circuit were you in? I went to Norwich North in CT for a long time, then to Preston (which used to be Norwich South I think).
I plan on getting baptized as a Christian soon, just trying to decide on a date.

Here are 5 reasons that the FDS is imaginary
by Terry infive reasons why the "faithful and discreet slave" class is imaginary:.
1 the wts has been inconsistent about who the slave is.
until 1895 it taught that the slave is the whole body of christ.
