thw wts likes to play games with their statistics.
one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?
if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.

ok. so i admit i'm stumped.
i left the jws and became christian and have been going through bouts of atheism, agnostisism and back.
that isn't something i want to delve into right now.. i remember seeing on the tv how a couple had their daughter murdered and they said that as christians they forgave the killer.. eh?.
Nancy and Gary Thank you too! I didn't mean to hijack this thread. I'm trying to make the point that 1st: It's probably a moot point. Punk, you probably will never be in that position in the first place.
2nd: I want to clarify that my decision was not based upon my interpretation of Christianity. It was based on preserving my mental health. I was too fragile to make a stink at the time. The race course was dangerous(a separate issue) and my
sons father was stalking me at the time as well. So I simply couldn't bear taking on any more drama. I also had my other child to think about as well. There were many factors that made me leave the whole mess alone.
The Jesus described in the Bible is not unreasonable. Johnnie the Bethelite makes some good points about the context of Jesus words about forgivness. He also recognized Ceasers role in keeping order. Murders, rapists, etc. can and should be prosecuted. Jesus never said his followers should be doormats or tolerate abuse.
Hope this clarifys a little.

LV101, Thank you!
well, the latest yearbook tells a sad story: 263,131 baptized versus 294,368 in the previous year.. a nasty decline...... obviously, this situation calls for something fake and superficial to remedy it, governing body-style!.
the glorious masters of time and space discerned some malaise in the organization, so they cut hours for auxiliary pioneering and got a huge increase!
in previous years, they cut the minimum time per month needed to be a publisher from 1 hour down to 15 minutes!
LOL

To Cofty and Tammy, Thanks so much for your kindness. It really means a lot! The truth is, a lot of what happens in our lives is out of our control so all we can do is try to control our reaction to it- but it is a process.

Dear Punk the example you gave is extreme and (fortunately) few experience the murder of their child. Seven years ago, my firstborn and only son was in a motorcycle race. He tried to pass the more experienced leader of the pack. The leader refused to yield and forced my son into a tree. He was killed instantly.
I neither forgave that person nor hate him because it would be damaging to ME. I miss my son every day of my life but nothing I do or think will bring him back. I decided to leave ALL of it to God and Jesus INCLUDING the forgiveness. After this kind of trajedy it's best to try to focus on positive things or else your own life is ruined. That is not what your loved one would want.
been lurking for a bit, and feel safe enough now to tell my story (condensed).. i'm a third-generation born-in, but my parents were inactive for most of my upbringing.
this means i got the worst of both worlds--no worldly friends (home schooled all but grades 2-3), no witness friends (since we never went to the hall except for memorial), and a generally isolated upbringing in a tiny, tiny town.
needless to say, my emotional, social, and personal growth were stunted.
Welcome Iwantobelieve, I am a 3rd generation born in on both sides. To even question JW's being Gods sole organization was unthinkable to me not so long ago. Now here I am hoping to give encouragement to "Apostates". You have joined a great group of folks who really know what the process of leaving entails. Their advice comes from trial and error and with the sole intention of being of help. All the best to you on your journey!

i'm delighted to announce that the 2012 annual survey has now been launched and is ready to receive your votes!!.
please visit www.jwsurvey.org and give us your votes at the earliest opportunity.
this latest survey is obviously available to all those who voted in last year's survey, as well as to those who have never voted before.. so, what's different?.
I also had a problem answering the question about WTS reform. There was not an option to say it should not be reformed because it should be destroyed. Or at least an option to say it is too bad to fix.
british dubs are invited to attend a special convention next summer in dublin , irish republic.
o k, this kind of trip has been done many times before.
however i have never seen such a crude and rigid set of rules that would apply to their own people going on a trip, at their own expense of course.
What's next? No bald people? No wrinkly people? GEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZEEEEEEEEEE
