Add your favorite JW prayer cliche'

you know what i'm talking about: the trite, often-repeated phrases that convey the person offering the prayer has drawn a mental blank, and utters these words while their brain desperately searches for the next cliche', so they can conclude the ritual with the required tag, "in jesus' name we pray".... (is that like the postage stamp?).

ok, i'll kick this one off, and take the most obvious:.

"forgive us where we fall short....".

I had forgotton those cliche's. I was in a cong where every single person who prayed at a meeting asked for a special blessing to the pioneers and servants. Once in a while would not have bothered me -but EVERY meeting? At least once a month there was a talk counciling the dubs not to associate with the weak or those that miss meetings.(NO matter what the reason) Get togethers were limited to the pioneers and servant body and their families.

I was so lonely I signed up to Aux pio. just for the invites. LOL I was turned down because they said I missed too many book studies. I explained that my 5 and 7 yr old had the flu for weeks . They still refused. They wanted to keep pioneers as a special elite classand pray for them every meeting. Sorry, I digress.

No more blood card

what a day!

first of all one of my electronic devises broke so the store said they would replace it i just needed to show id, i removed my license from my wallet and saw my blood card staring me in the face i couldn't stand looking at it so i took it and crumpled it up and threw it away, upon leaving the store i had a car accident it the parking lot, nobody was terribly injured but it was my fault so i feel bad...but i also feel elated that i tore up the card, what if i had a really bad accident and i needed blood?

what could have happened to me?

Lostinthought, Wow talk about timing! I had to have surgery last winter soon after I had torn up my blood card. It was such a relief not to have to even discuss the issue with my doctors.

Yes, NC, you're right. Sisters have not only been disfellowshipped for not following their screaming rule, I know at least 2 victims personally who were told they could NEVER speak the name of the accused to anyone or else they would be back in the comittee room with charges such as slander, walking disorderly, and causing divisions. Not surprisingly, they are now EX JWs.

Incidently, threatening a person to shut up about a crime is illegal in California. It is called Conspiracy to intimidate a witness. I hope victims will persue their legal remedys now while the climate is favorable.

Will Watchtower Bible and Tract Society staff or Jehovah's Witnesses ELDERS be convicted next ?

about an hour ago the first criminal conviction of clergy involved in child abuse cover-up occured!

considering the power of the the catholic church, and the percentage of catholics on the jury this is incredible!!!!!

how long do you think it will be before before elders and bethelites among jehovahs's witnesses are convicted of criminal conspiracy with no jehovah's witnesses in the jury pool ?

Diamonddiz, You hit on an important point. The attorneys for the Watchtower (both JW and non) need to be sued for their part in the conspiricy to protect pedophiles. Once one case is won the legal prescident wiil be set for the rest. I can't wait for the Watchtower to continue to bleed $$$$$$$$$

To Longhaired girl, If the rapist is a non-JW , there would be absolutely NO reason to tell the elders. However, if the purp is a JW, she is programed to tell in order to to do her part to warn others within the cong and to keep it clean. The problem is this: The way the Elders handle the situation is often deplorable! They turn the victim into a consentual participant. She is then judged and executed by the people entrusted to care for her spiritual welfare. This is a horrific abuse of power.

Additionally, by mislabeling it consentual, others are put at risk as well. In other words we can't blame the victim for being a dumbass for not knowing better than to trust the elders. WE know better but these innocent victims don't.

Punk got shunned HURRAH!!!!

so i was da'd last september as a 'mentally diseased apostate'(tm) that the 'jehu elders'(tm) should 'slaughter'(tm) if the law of the land allows it.. i now get shunned in the street and i think it's so childish of the dubs to do so.

one family that shunned me was a family i bent over backwards to help them when they had to move house.

their loss...i won't help them again!.

we bees leave for our trip this afternoon - a river cruise from budapest to the black sea.

everyone on the ship is a tandem cycling couple.

we will visit hungary, serbia, moldav, romania, austria, germany and croatia.. it will be a nice break from politics and the world news since we don't watch much tv on these trips.. hold down the fort - see you in a couple of weeks!.

i hope the powers-that-be in brooklyn are paying close attention to what is happening in state college, pennsylvania with respect to the hideous pedophile scandal at penn state university because it speaks directly to their own handling of pedophilia.

here is a news release about the matter:.

(ap) -- penn state's investigation into the jerry sandusky scandal concludes that the administrators who fielded a 2001 complaint about him created a dangerous situation for future victims by not reporting the matter.. the freeh group's report issued thursday said that in order to avoid bad publicity, president graham spanier, football coach joe paterno, athletic director tim curley and vice president gary schultz ''repeatedly concealed critical facts.''.

Another related issue is that in many of the cases of child sexual abuse within the Watchtower organization, the victoms and their parents were THREATENED to keep silent about the abuse and the idenity of the purp.

In California threatening or intimidating a witness in a court case(or potential) is against the law. The Elders who made these threats broke the law. They are personally liable. The WTB$ claims the elders are independent agents. The elders will have to foot the bill PERSONALLY for these threats as well as cover-ups.

That might make them think twice about obeying WBT$ protocol. After all, In the real world "I was only obeying orders!" doesn't cut it.
